I'm only doing the floater mission on 2 toons a day to unlock the ship disocount for the others. Occasionally I raise some birds for marks but that's about it. I'm sure others have fun with the event but honestly I can't bring myself to farm for stuff during the summer event that's only usable on Risa and only useful during the summer event.

Floaters aren't that hard to control, just practice more, things like turning early to get around bends etc (ignore the track, just aim for the "gates".

Basically all I do is the floater daily (on all of my alts included, the plan been to save time next year) and the horgahn hunt for bird eggs, as birds=marks, and the favours earned in the hunt can be traded for eggs if you don't want any of the usless stuff (beyond getting a half decent floater to make that easier). As to sand castles, dance contests or surfboard racing, no thanks.

If by lose interest you mean never went in the first place, then yes. Yes I have.

it was only matter of time, the burn out has reached me, i can stop now and probably regenerate some of the interest later or wear it out and have no further interest. interesting dilemma :P.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I had fun for a while running around doing new stuff, but it's lost it's long term appeal. Other than the ship (going for the corvette since I didn't get it last year), there's not much I want there enough to do the rest on a consistent basis.

If I got this right with the new crafting system fleet weapons will become much more expensive. So why on earth should I go to Risa?? I need Dili and not useless swimwear! In my opinion Risa can go to hell and stay there till I've got my Char's equipped. And afterwards I'd like a mission to kill the dance-instructor!^^:P
So you're a native speaker and I'm not. So what?:P

Got a bikini on my fed main, superior boards on 3 of my mains and superior floaters on 2.

Finished that a week ago, just going back once a day on my mains to raise monkies/birds and saving up pearls for next year.

No interest in the ship either.

I am doing the event on three toons. I didn't start doing the Summer Event until several days after it started so I am still grinding for pearls. Not exactly sure if I will buy the Cruiser or the Corvette. I look at some review before doing so I suppose. Or just save the pearls for next year.

However, I am making decent ECs selling favors on the Exchange. While I suppose it would be nice to purchase a bathing suit for my female toons, I'd rather sell the 500 favors on the Exchange. Sadly the value has dropped a lot since the event started, but still a decent way to make some ECs. I have made enough to buy a Plasmonic Leech for my Fed and Rom-Fed toons should I decide to do so.

Blocking out about 15 minutes per hour to do the "Risian Idol Hunt" 2 or 3 times per day is not a big deal. At 7k per favor as of yesterday that works out to 690k or 1,035k ECs per toon. I did a lot more grinding before the price dropped below 15k per favor.

    To the OP,

The thing to remember is that when flying a floater you are going to have a bit of momentum the needs to bleed off before you can come to a full stop. This also make turning a bit more difficult. The key is to probably stop pressing the WASD keys about 2 seconds before you actually want to stop or change course. Pressing "B" to go into shooter mode helped me a lot and that allowed me do the idol hunt on my 3 toons with just the rental floaters in the 15 minute time limit.

It is also good to have the "Risian Tribble" since that increases both speed and handling of whatever floater you are using.

Risa: login, do flying high on 2 toons, switch to one of other toons and stay the hell away from Risa.

With the 2 Risa toons I built a few sandcastles b4 having enough of waiting on build spots and low rewards... Danced once, just not my thing. Run the hunt if it's on when I'm there, nothing I really want but I'll sell the favo(u)rs. Raced once, realised the GTW boards and damn silly flag grab turned it from a fun race into a greed game, didn't run it again.

The place is beautiful, floaters & powerboards are fun, Pavyls little game of hide and seek was ok. Risa needs a side mission or 2, maybe an attack by sea creatures on the resort, similar to the snowman on the lake at the winter event.

I wanted to have fun on Risa as I missed it last year due to work but 25 runs of the same event, not enough sandcastle spots and a race that makes the flag grab even worse than the winter event, have taken my interest and bunt it.

So much potential for a fun & relaxing vacation map.

For some reason, probably poor coordination, I just couldn't seem to control the floater enough to comfortably make it through the courses in time, so I got frustrated and gave up.

Since the only "permanent" reward seems to be the ship from pearls gained from the course, after I did some castle building I just lost interest.

I suppose I could do the hunt once or twice. I do wish they'd expanded on the sandcastle building, that has great potential for a minigame.

Am I the only one? Am I missing something?

I went AWOL from Risa within 15 minutes. The one thing i found interesting last year had been taken away.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Well for me all three factions are going through the floater run until the July 17 cut off date. I had purchased the same floater for each next one up from the rental one so now I don't have to worry about the rental one again. That's all I am doing it the fly high for the 1,000 pearls.

Now and then I'll do the power-board race for the monkey. Rom faction has green monkey so he's done with monkey's. KDF working on a monkey for him. Fed had some issues with winning at the end to grab the flag. But now thanks to you all here he can grab the flag and get what is needed for getting a monkey.

    So basically...

    Flying High (daily)
    I want to Dance (hopefully)
    Horga'hns Hunt (hopefully)
    Wave Race (?)

    Flying High, Dancing, Horga'hns Hunt

I am saving up my Lohlunat Favors before I buy anything else with them. Each faction will get swimwear. Right now I made up off-duty multi-color summer clothes for each one. I going to get the Horga'hn statue to add to my collection.

Flying High is better to be done at night fall on Risa to me I can see the track layout in the night where as in the bright sun over the beach it's washed out. Sometimes I get lucky and I get everything down with 6 mins to spare. If not like 4 mins to spare. Track layout and location is so random lately.

Horga'hn Hunt I have plan already I either grab the first one off the beach resort then keep the south east of the island. I keep eye on what is left to finish.

As for Risa itself quiet place to go too and rest, but I would like to see horse back riding or some sort of beach sand buggy ATV (all-terrain-vehicle) so I can driving around in the sand or better yet a row boat so I could go fishing. Or a sea floater (inner-tube). ;)

I didn't have an interest in them at all because this is Star Trek, not DOA Beach Volleyball.

Whereas I think they're great, because this is Star Trek. :P

    ----

As to the main question - no, still happy to grind away. Except for the part where I've had a miserable cold for the last two days and haven't really been able to do anything. Blah! :(

Don't use the rental floater, use at least the standard version, or preferably the superior, and its pretty easy. I don't stay at Risa longer then it takes to do flying high though. The powerboard race was very badly designed, because you need to grab a flag at the finish line and its very easy to get disqualified when missing it. Sand castles are waste of time also, reward too low.

Dont waste favors on a superior floater, for god sake, not even the enchanted one. There is no need and those are A LOT of favors you are throwing away for nothing. Unless you already have favors saved from the last year and you can spare 1000 of em already on it.. With the standard floater (and if you can, you can fabricate the tribble, just buying some risian food and a white common tribble and it will give you as well a little boost), once you get how to fly the floater, you can do a run on 3 characters in the time the event last.

But as almost everybody said, thats the only thing worthy to do on Risa, not the dance thing, not the races, not the castles. Just the hunting horgans thing.

Have you tried using the shooter mode to fly the floater? i really hate it, but people says its easier using that fire mode. Honestly i dont think flying the floater is difficult, maybe the first 30 seconds.. but after that.. its just a question of knowing how to manage the inertia thing. Stop the thrusters a little time before you get to your destiny, then maneouver and accelerate just a little before you are going again in straight line.. its actually really easy. And once you get that, you can do it faster.

It's been a couple weeks, so yeah, it's starting to wear a little thin. Big surprise. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. Let's see:

    • I still find the races really fun and don't regret dropping 2550 favors on boards all total. Hope those are expanded next year. I want more courses and separate courses for each board category. I want a reason to own one of each board.
    • The hunt and dance clearly only exist for grinding favors and aren't much fun anymore, I'll still do the hunts to kill time. Dancing is only fun when there's someone to BS with in chat.
    • Castles were fine until I went through all of the designs.
    • The floater courses for pearls are fun, I wish there were more of them, I've done them all now and with a superior floater, they're effortless.
    • Why can't I hold all of these favors?

Overall I'm very happy with the summer event. Last year's sounds yawn inducing by comparison, so hopefully that means next year's will be even better.

Again, some of you make the grind for yourself. Not having fun? Stop. You can do that.

Swim wear cant be used outside Risa, so the only real prize is the battle liner. I do a floater run every morning, process any birds and monkeys that are waiting, and that's pretty much it. Will get one of the DOFFs later.

Mantain right button pressed down, then, just moving the mouse allows you to control the toon very easily.Hope it helps you.
On the other hand......I also get a little bit tired from risa, cause u have just 6 things to do ....Horghems hunt, sand castle (first 3 times is ok but....) ,races, flying high, bird breeding (or/and monkey) and dance thing. Its ok at first..but sooooooooooo repetitive after a while.

I think its worth getting superior floater on at least 1 character because you have to run the course 25 times on 1 character, and time is also money. I normally have 7- 8 minutes left on the clock when I finish flying high with a superior floater, and I am pretty bad at flying too.
You can get a lot of favors back with the superior floater also as its faster for doing horhgan hunts too.

Um, I never had an interest in Risa. I've probably gone their and beamed down 3 or 4 times total in the 4+ years I played STO. (And no, the Risa 'grind' events have held ZERO interest for me from their first introduction (YMMV.)

No its not worthy. Unless you want to do it on 10+ alts and you need it yes or yes, its stupid to waste 1000 favors in a superior floater. A decent dumb swimsuit cost already 500 favors, and you asking the guy to grind for 1000 right away just to get the superior floater, that he dont need anyways, because you already can do 3 runs with a standard one and the stuff you can buy with favors is stupidly expensive.

The only reason to buy a superior floater is if you have dozens of alts. I dont see any other reason.

You can do 5 hunts with superior floaters, and given the price of favors on the ah that extra 100+ favors means a ton of ec. Minimum of 700k ec per hunt.

My superior floaters have already bought me far more fun stuff (ships, costumes, etc) via the ah than the favors can buy.

    Your mileage may vary.

Let's see ... a seasonal event which is meant as a diversion and break from regular content, i.e. grinds, is way more grindy. P2W race and silly mini games ... yeah it is an epic win. I am stoked.

Kind of losing interest, yeah. I still enjoy the races and stuff, but I don't really care about the ship, so I'm losing the urge to go there every day for pearls. I may even have skipped too many days to get it already; I'm not sure.

This pretty much. The biggest and critical fail of the Risa even is the stupid ammount of favors you need to get most of the stuff, practically forcing you to grind even if it is supossed a vacational event lol. Specially when , with the exception of a couple of customes and a couple of accesories, you cant use anything out of Risa. This is maybe the major reason so many players just forgot about it. I think this event is a complete fail.

Its still worth having 1 superior floater for the simple fact that time is money, the more time I spend doing flying high, the less time I am making money other ways through doffing, farming battlezone, etc. I will gladly pay a 1 time fee of 1000 favors to minimize time and hassle flying high.

I have 4 superior floaters on my account actually, I wouldn't recomend anyone buy more then 1 now though. I just have 4 because last year you needed to do the run 25 times per character, but now it makes it easy to farm favors because I can do 4 horhgan runs now.

I've not lost interest in Risa, but I've gotten lazy in Risa. I have everything I want except the boat-ship and have realized that, as I process my daily 8000 dil, my comfortable cushion of surplus dil is melting away. So, it is back to other grinds for me. A little Romulan marks here a few 8472 marks there, keeping those hourlies rolling, various other things along the way...

Two things I still do on Risa regularly: Flying High (for 7 more days!) and Bird/Monkey DOffing for marks. Over the past 4 days I have not critted by the time my bird/monkey is a senior twice, so that's 720 marks I earned.

Speaking of critting on monkey missions, does anyone else think those things are cuter w/out the masks? I plan on keeping a blue monkey, but have yet to have one come out w/out the mask. Right now, I've got one coming down the pipes who I'm putting in the care of the worst DOffs I can get my hands on. As long as there is no critical failure that kills the poor thing, or critical sucess that means I sell him to the Risian Burger Joint, I should have a blue monkey pet in 2 days.
