Well, I am on Tribble right now. So far I can see some "old" items like Aegis.
But where can I see the new shinys? Or at least details about them like what the Signal Enhancement Module does... ^^
The UI itself looks quite nice.
I think the Module is just a component you have to make for another item. And you are the first person who said the new UI looks nice..... interesting.
"We've got a problem- we've made Crafting into a grindfest that makes the Reputation system look like a handout, but people claim they can get better gear reliably from the Dilithium store!"
"Roll out Contingency Code Patch Zeta-9."
"What's that do?"
"Removes everything craftable from the Dilithium store."
"You know hard they'll rage about that?"
"Yeah. You think I care? Besides, it also lets us flip the bird to the 'casual 4 lyfe' twits by making random drops the only way to get the stuff if you try to boycott our treadmill...er...crafting system. It's a win-win."

If you don't like it... well just snip with your fingers ;-)
After a second look into the new R&D section I think you're right. It's just a component which is needed for another one.
btw: I don't like that my "crafting" skills are set to 0.

They've said crafters in the old system will get some kind of a 'boost'. Just not sure how much of a boost, and they probably aren't sure yet either.

outrageous, just outrageous... total fail... no sane player would even touch it...
they should just delete whole crafting system and don't bother with it.
Almost everything seems worse than before. Huge paywall thanks to dilithium costs, random drops from crafting, need to consume doffs to get better chance of getting something decent.
Also not happy to see an optional dilithium cost to autocomplete doff assignments. Seems like something out of one of those 'freemium' facebook games.
Wow another grind fest, how nice of you Cryptic, Really buying off timers wasn't Facebook games doing that ? Not pay to win but pay to go fast.... truth building arcs so to speak.
O thanks for the video OP

"Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised. It's got me through the worst of the last three years. I beat the Borg with it."
One thing they said would be that the crafting materials would have their own inventory space that would free up bank space. I'm not seeing that on Tribble as all of the previous stuff can't be put into the new slots.
Secondly Cryptic, are you guys drinking warp core coolant again?? Those dil prices are utterly insane, even if you lower it to 10-15K if rumors are true.
Thirdly, removing the dil store is wrong on so many levels. What about those of us who do not like crafting, how are we supposed to get consoles and what not now? Exchange?? Not an option, since the crafted items will have abusrd prices. Just watch it happen. Loot drops?? Nope too unreliable.
Sure, fleet store(s) are an option, but there are many players who like to play alone, and they are getting hit hard by this.
I'll stay with the rep gear, since I know what I'm getting...
IMO, the randomness of the rarity wouldn't be SO bad if they did 3 things
1. As previously suggested, lower the dil costs.
2. Make it so that the fleet mine dil cost projects affect crafting
3. Add a mod selection tool that pops up upon item completion (i.e. "Congratulations, you crafted a Mk XII Rare Phaser Beam Array. Please choose your item modifiers: [Mod 1 pulldown] [Mod 2 pulldown]).
As others have said - in its current state, and at the current costs, post-revamp crafting is still worthless (IMO).
The new crafting system is worse than I had hoped but is slightly better than I feared.
I'm absolutely perplexed at the costs. Not only at how stupidly high they set them but also at the fact that a mark 12 phaser pistol apparently costs as much dil as a mark 12 warp core. And the rarity and modifiers are completely left to the tender mercies of Cryptics notoriously fickle random number generator.
I'd love to see an explanation from cryptic as to why they expect anyone to use this crafting system over purchasing equipment from the reputation or fleet stores where they know what they're getting.
If they're dead set on this system I'd like to see them improve it by letting the dil costs represent the rarity of the item, we get to pick the modifiers, and the cost per modifier is lower. For example:
- If I want to craft a Mk 12 common beam array, no dil cost.
- If I want to craft a Mk 12 green beam array, one mod of my choice from a drop down list, 5,000 dil.
- If I want to craft a Mk 12 blue beam array, 2 mods of my choice from a drop down list, 10,000 dil.
-If I want to craft a Mk 12 purple beam array, 3 mods of my choice from a drop down list, 15,000 dil.
If they're dead set on this system I'd like to see them improve it by letting the dil costs represent the rarity of the item, we get to pick the modifiers, and the cost per modifier is lower.
Better yet, why not new DOFF Engineering quests (can be joined by relevant other category DOFFs) to break down bound or unbound equipment to get the modifier parts that can then be used to craft up better parts. A success in the DOFF mission results in getting the modifier. A critical success upgrades the modifier to the next level (if possible).
It all comes down if my max crafter is going to need to start over (for the third time I believe). We will see what happens...
You will have to start over, but we're working on a reward that honors your commitment to the previous system. You'll get a bit of a leg up on others who are starting fresh.
So, those that invested in the current system get some sort of other non-skill-conversion boost. It could be a discount maybe... or on the other hand it could be a paltry stack of common Components.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
There is no combination of words that accurately describe my disappointment in this.
Gambling for gear. Woohoo!
I would not mind the dilithium costs if I knew what I was getting. But getting a random item that you're not even sure will be useful is pretty much what my name is.
I
Under the new system:
1. acquire materials
2. use materials to craft middle-man component objects
3. craft the thing you want
That's how crafting has worked in damn near every game that I've played. Complex items need components that can be added to the lower end of crafting to get the skill higher.
Wait what, are they serious with those dilithium costs???
Anyway thanks for the video, it cleared a lot of stuff for me.
Hopfully they will reduced those costs to at least half, but i am now more worried about the catalyst that boost the chance for the purple drop, it seems they are going to be sold on the c-store, so another thing we need to buy to get at least a purple item. dafuq

First off, the Duty Officer system worked just fine. It was simple, quick, no BS, and to the point. There was no real need to "revamp" it.
Second, I don't like the "R&D On The Go" set up on this. It panders to the impatient and makes yet another hub completely redundant. This was a perfect opportunity to breath new life into Memory Alpha and the Forge. But they dropped the damned ball on this one.
Third, this isn't no more than a basic change that doesn't address what killed crafting to begin with. In other words, nothing worth crafting that can't be bought on the general Exchange for EC, and dilithium cost requirements. And then you throw in gambling to boot with crafting. Not cool.
Sorry, devs. This one is looking like a bust so far. I hope you guys take the test period to rethink some of your decisions with is supposedly "improved" crafting system.
Everything I see ecept for the massive dil cost looks preaty good. I was adding it up in my head but if I wanted 6 beam arrays. I suppose it would cost me 120000 dil. I may be wrong tho because that was to make the 2 items to make the beam arrary. Witch will probably cost another 15k dil to make. Its a good system but those prices are just way to much. What were they thinking. Not everybody has a Dr. for a daddy or have hit the Powerball a few times.

Oh, and this tends to hurt part of the reason, for levling a fleet mine, as it allows for a dilithium store discount Hmmm Dev's!!!

It probably took almost no time develop, it's literally what you get in Neverwinter.

Isn't that kinda like duty officer packs and lock boxes?

It is. They added a redundant second step to crafting.
Under the current/old system:
1. acquire materials
2. craft the thing you want

Everybody starts at 0.

If it ain't broke, break it.
If it is broke, cull it instead of fixing it.
Don't really do those either. Guess I'm just not part of PWE's target customer group.
