Can we please get Dinosaur Mounts for the Voth Battlezone??

spacebaronlinespacebaronline Member Posts: 1,103 Arc User
It is really a lot of work running around the zone - especially if your toons missed the winter event and does not have the boots.

Since we can have Voth ships and the 'not very believable' Undine ships - I see no reason not to jump the shark even further and include some type of Mount for the game.

While using the Jet packs would seem more reasonable - I say lets go all out and include Dinosaur mounts.

The upside is that it would be sure to bring lots of players back to the ground battlezone!

We are killing these big and small dinosaurs by the millions - I don't see why we can't capture them and turn them into riding mounts.

Please make it so.

I would prefer C-store account wide - but do the lobi route if you must.

:P

I will only support this if we get them as combat mounts, complete with the "frikkin' laser beams on their heads."

In which case, make mine a V-Rex. :D

Put me down for a Stegosaurus. I'd like one with a little hat with the propeller on top. Thanks!

While I am sure that they could make them combat active - when you dismount - I am fairly certain that the T-rex would be a no go - Too Big:(

But the others are more or less "Horse size" - and not too different from the things ridden in the Star Wars movies(don't know about the MMO)

Listen - we are less than 12 months away from perhaps the biggest movie of 2015 - "Jurassic Park 4" aka "Jurassic World"

    $$$$$$

I'd rather they spent development time on Voth Mech Carriers...that allowed you to launch swarms of powersuits at targets. Yeah, I've got a Space bias...flying around in circles is harder than running around in circles. :P

Battle Mechs would be great too - but perhaps a little OP??

Having the Dinosaur Mounts would still force players to have to dismount to engage in the ground combat.

And like I said - the "Jurassic World" money train is coming to theatres in less than a year!!;)

I mean - what boy/man does not want to ride a friendly Dino pet?

I don't....I don't want Ground. Make it go away! Make it go away!

Honestly, I don't see why I can't just do multiple orbital bombardments? Why can't I send some DOFFs to deal with Ground stuff? Why...why...do I have to get out of my captain's chair? I crafted an upgraded one with a back massager!

Well if we remove Starfleet Captains and Admirals from going on dangerous ground missions - we really would be moving far away from canon.

Starfleet Captains being at the Front line of ground battle is as canon as it gets;)

Happy Days had this character named Fonzie. Happy Days was also on the air for a very long time. Lke many shows, it started to lose interest and they created an episode with a gimmick to draw in viewership.

This was in 1977, and the whole 'shark' thing was trendy in pop culture after the success of Jaws.

There was a scene where Fonzie goes water skiing (with his leather jacket still on), and jumps over a shark.

To many, this signalled the point where the quality of the show started to decline. Thus, 'jumping the shark' infers that it is the point where the show has already peaked and is on a steady decline and leads to little more than gimmicks and novelties to gauge viewership, rather than what it made it so popular to begin with.

Jumping the Shark means an end to creative evolution, focusing only on short-term gimmicks.

Enterprise did this quite often with their multiple fan service episodes that had nothing to do with the story of Enterprise, but knew bringing back plots/characters/actors from the previous shows/movies in a very gimmicky fashion would quickly pump up viewer numbers, even if it was quite obvious Rick Berman and Brannon Braga had nothing going for them in terms of story.

We joked about making mechs into fighters when we were making the Voth.

We also joked about Pterodactyl fighters.

Both of those things were jokes... sadly.

You know Hawk - I am kind of half joking about the topic - but....

Some type of ground vehicles/mechs or even the wacky "Dino Mounts" are something the player base has been asking for awhile.

Vehicles - maps not big enough

Mechs - nice - but could be OP

Dino Mounts? - that only carry you into battle in the Voth Ground battle zone - and act as an extra support for the times when you find yourself and your boffs all alone?? Could be - could be;)

P.S - Nice to see a Dev poke his head into these here parts again(other than Taco) you are always welcome :)

On the subject of vehicles: Given the addition of New Romulus, the Voth Battlezone, and Nimbus III... I personally think it is a good opportunity for vehicles to be introduced to STO now that there is some need for them.

I don't like running around the Voth Battlezone with Frosted Boots on and hitting Motion Accelerator to get to hotspots faster.

With the new larger maps - and lots and lots of running to do - I think it's time they start introducing some other ways to get around - besides the sliding frosted boots.

If they add any more of these large ground zones they really are going to have to take a serious look at some quicker ways to get around.

Sadly... whats really sad is that there is dinosaurs with laser beams on their heads in this game! That was the moment I stopped spending money on STO.

as far as a dinosaur mount goes, no, just no! :D. imagine riding a t-rex with freaking lazors on its head. it would end up destroying everything before you got it under control.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.
