The reason you see so many of us Gorn is simple. We love to party and make sandcastles! Woo!

More specifically, build sand cities and then stomp all over them. (Toho movies are supposedly very popular on Gornar, even with the hostilities with the Federation.)

To some degree for those in the KDF who have been around a long long time there was a time where they wouldn't even bother making it KDF accessible much less to rant about how its not for the KDF lol.

The only real gripes I have left that haven't been settled is pretty much costumes, c-store ship retrofit items example "wide angle torp launcher" type deals where we are too short. As well as like events like this we don't have access to the numerous Klingon and absorbed races items you would see for ground combat but on the topic of risa I am getting too no weapons are suppossed to be allowed but maybe they will write in something in story how the dominion and borg changed their view lol.

You realize the Winter Event is just as bad.

Oh, well, more for the rest of us.

    BLASPHEMY!
    HERESY!

    Hell no it's not.
The race for tags ALONE puts it above the SE and I get some good Marks for the alts.

My targ relieves itself on the Summer Event's leg then goes #2 on it's front lawn.
    NO to ARC

Speaking of Targs, my pup and I where enjoying a frolic in the shallows earlier, nothing wrong with enjoying the sun, surf and scantily clad women of various species even if I am from a warrior culture!

Agreed. The Risa is basically designed for your average FED whose mental age is not more than a 5 years old playing in a sandbox, and calls mommy (cryptic) once slapped by KDF, starts crying for KDF stuff while trowing toys out of his pram.

On the other hand, our presence is needed to keep an eye on FEDs

If you've been to Risa you may have noticed a lack of KDF players enjoying the Summer Event. I know we are a smaller faction but that doesn't account for the low numers of KDF players on Risa. if you're lucky you may spot a Gorn here and KDF aligned Romulan there but most zones are empty of KDF players. I'm thinking most folks who have toons on both sides are only beaming in on the Fed characters.

The reason for this is simple, there's nothing on Risa a KDF character would enjoy doing. I beamed down with my Orion to get a bird egg and participated in a few of the events. It felt utterly ridiculous for my Orion to be building sand castles, site-seeing, hunting for statues, or powerboard racing. I mean come on! On Quo'Nos we have pit fights! Where's the contests of strength and valor that would appeal to the KDF?

How about powerboard jousting now that would be fun! Or let us be able to get diving equipment and a speargun so we can hunt dangerous aquatic life. And allow us to hunt dangerous wildlife on land as well. What about an old fashioned arm wrestling contest or hand to hand bout? I would even go for a plain ole fishing competition.

It just seems to me Risa and the Summer event are geared around the blue side. I can't see a Klingon having a blast of a time buidling sandcastles unless of course they had consumed enough bloodwine to lose their minds.

What do you think would be a good event for the KDF?

As a primarily KDF player I think you have a great point. Good KDF events...hmmm. Maybe stabbing our feet on jagged rocks until they're bloody pulp and then hiking 20 miles up the peaks of Risa.
Or...hanging upside down while feather monkeys try to claw our eyes out and bite our faces off. The game would be to see how long you can wiggle out of the way of their fierce teeth and claws before you succumb and die.
    Or....

    Or....

All that sounds infinitely better than playing patty-cake in the sand. There's lots of stuff you can do when you go to the beach. Why Cryptic landed on sandcastle building is beyond me. I tried to think of stuff I do when I go to the beach and relate it to what we have on Risa. I jet ski and when I was younger surfed a bit so ya the powerboards I have to admit are a good add. I also dived, fished, and went spear gunning too. My kids were the ones who liked playing in the sand and only until they reached a certain age that they felt they had outgrown it. We also explored so the statue hunt isn't bad either. If someone likes to build sandcastles that's cool, I've even witnessed a few creations I thought were a works of art. But not everyone is in to that and it would've been nice if Cryptic would have added some other stuff to do as well.

Then I thought of all the shows and movies depicting Klingons and the Risan Summer Event seemd a bit tame for the likes of them. I can see a Klingon relaxing in the sun, riding a powerboard, and even exploring but the rest is really streching the boundries. All the games and past time activities I seen a Klingon doing were either contests of strength/skill or highly dangerous and risky. We don't know enough about Gorn or Letheans but we do know the Fersans, Orions, and Nausicaans are similiar in temperment to the Klingons so the events may or may not appeal to them. I'm not saying everyone has to play their character to canon accuracy either. But some folks like to do that and here again it would've been really cool if Cryptic would've added some more events to appeal to more tastes.

Diving, Spear gunning, & Fishing are all activities any faction can enjoy. Add in some dangerous aquatic life, tests of skill such as knife throwing/ target shooting, and some physical activities such as arm wrestling and MMA bouts and you have an event everyone can enjoy.

I go in my spacesuit to fill my mandatory grinding quotas, so as to avoid getting any of this filthy FUN on me, and have encouraged fleetmembers to do the same.

I really love some of the responses you get to these threads. I have to give this one credit for making me laugh long and hard.

I'm having fun there. Getting accolades, newbs asking me "How do you play a 10-foot-tall reptile?" people dancing with a Gorn, smashing sandcastles. The usual stuff.

I will be getting a KDF powerboard soon, so I'll be able to race competitively.

As for why a member of the KDF would be there? Reconnaissance. Seeing how your enemy behaves when not on duty can yield valuable information.

The powerboarding (broke down and got one) is a bunch of fun and has all the elements a KDF character would enjoy. Going insanely fast, avoiding dangerous rocks, and wiping out. Queue Wipeout someone!

First off, I like your username and avatar.

    Now for the main point....

Not all Klingons are chest thumping, TRIBBLE, bloodthirsty idiots. They are more complex than that.

Klingon culture, like many others, has an appreciation for beauty, love, music, the arts, etc.

There is nothing odd about a Klingon enjoying a day basking in the sun, and checking out all of the hot chicks strolling on the beach. Or enjoying a reflective walk through Risa's lush jungles. Or increasing his/her chances of getting laid by showing off some awesome moves on the dance floor.

As for the other peoples represented in the KDF?

Risa is also an Orion's paradise, with all of the opportunities for sex and fun in the sun. The Gorn, being reptiles, and Ferasians being cats, would enjoy the warm, sunny atmosphere (Until the Gorn throws the Ferasian into the drink for ***** and giggles). There are also plenty of pockets to pick for those fun loving Naussicans and Letheans.

My Klingon female character is currently on vacation on Risa, running around in a purple bathing suit, enjoying the festivities. And she's not the only one. I've chatted with some KDF players on Zone Chat, and seen more than a few running around. While outnumbered by Federation and Romulan players, they are not exactly as rare as hen's teeth.

This is another reason I feel the restriction on KDF players entering the Sirius Block should be lifted. My Klingon needs more vacations. :D

I have proudly showed off my razor-sharp back spines and incredible Klingon physique on Risa, much to the amazement and terror of the tiny Federation officers.

I can have fun without gutting someone. I'm not an animal who needs to be leashed. I'm not a human-raised Klingon Starfleet officer who overcompensates by grumbling in the corner while everyone else on my ship enjoys themselves after a long day of kiling Borg.

The day you put away your bat'leth is indeed the end of our Empire. That doesn't mean you have to store it up your hindquarters.

All very good points. But I bet we'd enjoy Risa better if we got to dive down and stick something sharp and pointy into an ill tempered, Klingon eating aquatic critter. Or hop on a boat with our fishing gear and troll for exremely large Risan marlin whilst we drink large quantities of fermented beverages then lie about the size of the fish we caught when we got back to the beach. Sounds fun doesn't it?

To give an honest answer. An old human game. . . Beach volley ball. Team combat that tests strength, speed, and endurance. With skill and tactics allowing smarter beach warriors the chance to stand against the superior physically. Punch, head butt, and spike your way to Victory.

Playing patty-cake in the sand doesn't match my idea of fun nor my KDF toons "rollseyes". I can't think of one time I've went on vacation and built a sandcastle. Snorkling, scuba diving, fishing, jet skiing, spear gunning, & hunting are some of the activities I usually do. It would be nice if Cryptic would add some more diverse activities.

True enough, though depends what "fun" is here. I find that doing anything in mmo's that hasn't to do with killing monsters or solving some relevant puzzle is a waste of time.

If I wanted to go to a beach, I'll just get in my car and drive there, and it will be far more enjoyable/tangible or whatever than doing it on my computer during the summer (no less, lol).

I play videogames to do stuff you can't do in real life. Driving a massive space ship and killing things of myth ain't happening yet last I checked... this is my definition of fun in video-games, not some stupid simulation of things done better in real life. Other than that I hope cryptic will continue to make serious content in the game as it is meant to be, and stop trying to fill the void with these bullshyt events.

I have seen plenty of fellow KDF officers on Risa.

Most are female... most of them are Orions.... hmmm... I can't figure out why....

I have seen some male Klingons (none wearing swimming trunks) and a handful of Gorns. One Gorn was wearing a pink and white swimming trunks. I have seen a single male Orion masquerading as the Incredible Hulk.

Ummm... try switching instances once in a while... There's plenty of KDF players on Risa... and the Gorn are having great fun on the power boards.

. It's the body mass.. they shift weight forward and hang ten, it channels the force of the repulser units to give them extra boost... scary fast.. and unstable as all get out.. seen a couple boards FAIL spectacularly so far! Word is getting around the fleet on how to mod the boards for extra speed.. the chance of the power unit detonating during a race just adds a little spice ya know?..

Oh, Voids the warrenty?.. like a federation product warrently is going to be honored to an imperial customer! Your better off dealing with shoddy ferrengi products! At least there you know that the ferrengi is going to try and cheat you! We Orion know all about federation "business law"... Mod the boards and have fun! What glory is there in victory without risk?
