What's a Defiant for in PvP nowadays?

Yes, I'm a known disappointed pvper about that ship, and as much as I try to mark it as doomed, I can't. But what's that little canon beauty of a ship anymore? Has uncomfortable bridge officer layout, weaky shields, mkay hull, cloak... can say many things on it.

That being said, as a pure escort, it falls behind JHAS, Hunter, Temporal Destroyers, MVAE in beta command, Armitage, and now heavily defeated by Patrol Refit. Shouldn't we see some love for it?

I decided to get the Retrofit even if I have Fleet Defiant already. Me and mini are trying to sort things out for it as a vaper, maybe cloak will find a decent use, and plan some getaway tactics. Honestly, it kinda freakened me out when I've seen a real new chance for it. After all, it's a Defiant.

What do you think?

    Dead in the water...make a vaper, better have some outrageous mes/impulsr capacitor shenangins to get the recloak

    Hopefully it will be the next fed ship to get the "refit" treatment that the fpe got

    It's kind of funny looking at it compared to the Fleet Saber.

    Fleet Defiant sports +8.7% Hull, -9% Shields, +1 Tac Console, -1 Eng Console, +1 Ensign Tac, -1 Ensign Eng.

    Yes, you compared it to some ships that outclass it all over the place...just thought it was funny even to compare it to a Saber.

    In the end, it's 2410. The Defiant, Intrepid, and Galaxy...well...are they really even in the game at this point other than to offer fans of those three series the opportunity to fly the ships? Even the non-Fleet versions are overkill for the PvE content...they're way beyond adequate for STO's average/casual gamer to hit up the PvE.

    PvP...? Seen some vapers...better the pilot, the more they can do with it, etc, etc, etc.

    And honestly, should it get a revamp - think it would be any different than the Galaxy revamp? Heh, wonder about those folks talking about the Intrepid revamp...they think it will be any different than the Galaxy revamp? Course, pretty sure the Galaxy folks think both the Intrepid and Defiant would likely get better revamps...cause Cryptic's only got beef with the Galaxy. Seriously, lol, the Risian Luxury Cruiser vs. Galaxy...that's just a /facepalm trip.

    Wouldn't make sense, though - no? There's already the T4 Defiant, T4 Defiant Refit, T5 Defiant Retrofit, and T5 Fleet Defiant Retrofit. The Patrol Escort was just the T5 Patrol Escort and T5 Fleet Patrol Escort. They added the "refit" - so that treatment took place.

    Kind of like the MVAM already existed for the AE. Kind of like the Regent existed for the Assault Cruiser. Like one might say the Vesta existed for the RSV. So would the next two be the Star Cruiser Refit and DSSV Refit? Heh, does anybody think they'd actually do those? Maybe for X2, eh?

    If it got a revamp...would likely be the Galaxy type of revamp. At that, probably wouldn't happen until after the Intrepid revamp - with the role Voyager is playing in the story at the moment.

    Yes, whatever you do to make Defiant competitive can be done for the other ships and they will become even better still. My point was that you need to have a healer on the team to make it work well, not that it would be on par with other ships who also have one.

    Defiant is good as a vaper in Cap'N'Hold. In fact, my main youtube series for STO is about that.

    Umm, I would say defiant is not bad ship at all. Offcourse it falls behind JHAS, hunter escort, Temporal destroyer, BUT those are all lock box ships, and there are meant to be superior to other ships. That being said, FPE-r is waaaay better than defiant, but defieant still got potential if u ask me, OR rather ask right person how to build one, and that person is Hank. I remember him flyin defiant as vapor few seasons ago and it was very powerfull !!

    You say that like it would in any way dissuade Cryptic from releasing another ship that would sell like hotcakes AND players want. The immersion ship sailed long ago, STO is 100% dedicated to fanservice now; considering the type of game STO is, this is a good thing.

    It's not only Defiant...All VA & fleet ships need bridge officer stations improvements like making universal stations or clear ensing stations to buff ltc...
    FaW+DEM+AtB in pvp = High score , no skill.

    Do they need improvements or do they need to be accepted as perfectly fine ships that are more than capable of handling all the PvE in the game...and accepting that they're older ships that just aren't going to be as good as the newer ships?

    They need to be accepted as roadkill from Cryptic's quarterly moneygrabs

    When you sacrifice balance for short-term cash bump, you get a catalog of trash ships. That's what they are.

    On a side note, I'll have the retrofit on thursday... we'll see then!

    Still I'd like to see it updated with a decent shield modifier, ensign universal. Just this would make miracles!

    Exactly what I thought after seeing the Love boat's stats.
    I own both Galaxy and warship VOyager.
    Where are the Nicor haters now? I don't think it's so canon that the Flagship is treated this way

    APO3 + Impulse Burst

    If you can't do that, then you die fighitng. Ramming speed is your friend.

    The fail rate for its decloak alpha depends on what kind of ship you trying to get, but usually it's around 1/3 of the time.

    This thread is funny, because when the Fleet Defiant & Fleet Prometheus were introduced, overnight, they made the entire KDF Raptor & Destroyer lineup completely obsolete. Freebie, C-Store, Fleet versions. Didn't matter, they were all obsolete, and the gap has gotten only wider by June 2014.

    Now Feds are complaining that the Defiant is worthless :rolleyes:

    It used to be, that 5 TAC Escorts outside the JHAS had to have serious concessions to get those 5 TAC console slots. Defiant & Prometheus paid for it with having Lt ENG stations. Today? Cryptic throws 5 TAC Consoles around like they ***** around Universal BOFF stations. The latest Fed Escort, the revamped Patrol Escort, is utterly ridiculous in both regards.

    Then again, there's the Warbirds that still make everything else obsolete no matter what you do.

    That Power... It be creepin', don't it?
