Is it me, or is this a one build game for PvP?

Been playing PvP in Kerrat, queues and fleet for about 3 months now.

I'm federation... and I don't cloak... this seems to mean that I should just give up on PvP unless I'm missing something very important.

Each and every match that contains a vaper is ruled by them... in premades... solo queues... kerrat... whereever

If this is seriously a 'get a scim and valdore and vape away' game then I know how to win already. Why the hell should I try to play anything else?

As I enjoy this game I do hope I'm missing something as 15-2 matches just aren't enough fun to keep me around.

There are enough possibilities to survive a vaper, or at least making yourself unattractive for one.

Share your build and ask your victors how you could have done better. Most people are good and nice chaps, as long you won't act like a child and calling hax or stuff.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

    Wrong. and so very wrong.

There is an infamous "that guy" in that a2b-dem-faw-valdore-marion scimi, but pvp is in no way ruled by that guy.

There is also hype about those infamous "vapers" but only few are good.

There are also those infamous FBPers or infamous zombie tanks, and cheeze lobi science, or infamous escorts, or.. and ..you name it.

They all die in pvp, it's just that kirk ships die more and kill less.

Valdore+scimi is in no way "i win" button. In fact one such a2b-dem-faw-marion-spiral disruptor-valdore-2pc borg set-elite drone scimi was pwned by a single shuttle.
    One shot. One kill.

You just need to find out what game mechanics are effective against which setups, plug your skill holes with some experience and plug enemies holes with super duper op weapons of choice.

    Direct answer? It's just you.

Essentially, maintain high defense figures and high resist, and you'll be fine - also, keep quick fingers on Tactical Team and Reverse Shield Polarity.

I'm Federation, non-cloaking, and I do fine. In fact, it's fun to pursue escaping vapers - science ships can be pretty zippy with the right abilities.

Cruisers will rely on resist with some defense.

Escorts will rely on high defense. Don't get held!

Science ships will rely on a mix of both, together with debuffing damage.

If you post what you are currently doing, I'm sure many people can help you with surviving vapes.

But even then, sometimes you will get caught off-guard, or the vaper gets a lucky ubercrit. That's normal. But you can survive at least half the time - and once you survive, you can pursue.

    I lol'd.

But no, actually vapers rule nothing these days. In premades, vapers are good at engulfing the own team in the abyss.

In the solo queues, vapers have to pray that there is no pugger in the other team hunting them down.

Scimitars are strong in the solo queues, but pretty much fail against a coordinated team.

What ship are you flying? Are you Tac, Eng, Sci?

Infamous Scimitar? Like, in a good way? Who would that be?

    Hi!

It is good to use Romulan-embassy-bridge-officers for sci/eng
places because of additional defence. Together with the
Deflector/engines of the Undine-reputation you will have
a lot of defence. Paired with an elite fleet shield vapers are
not that drama anymore...only the real good ones!

    Not in a good way.
On forums you see ppl that think that a2b faw scimitars are endgame bosses like the guy that made this topic, that was the point of that sentence.

There are just a handfull of really dangerous ones in game be it with FAW setup or DHC setup, not a reason in any way to make such infamy on forums.

Eh no, my dear old enemy! PvP is also ruled by the infamous damned terrific evul Bops when they can fight in open spaces like Ker'rat and the C&H queues!
Ask Mini or Thissler if you don't believe me...:D

Fed T'varo should have no problem hunting down any fragile KDF Birds of Prey...just saying. ;)

That's right, but I'm speaking about we Feds and the evul Empire...if a player wants to relive a Star Trek experience as it should be, well...a very bad surprise is awaiting him!

Given that the Fed T'varo got the TDF from being a Fed...one might see that it is the Fed part rather than the T'varo part, eh? :P

Mini's 5 vaper premade was actually quite scary, but fortunately we had speed and SCIENCE or we would have lost http://puu.sh/9cOiy

Yea we faced them and narrowly won 15-14. It wasn't easy and nearly lost if it weren't for the black poo console towards the end throwing it at a teammate in trouble. We had Science too.

1 Sci healer/hanker wasn't enough to keep them from popping.

If I remember this match correctly even their healer had cloak (not sure if battlecloak)

Nothing is impossible to him who would try.... except getting cryptic to care about pvp.

Lol, but in the REAL Star Trek the Fed Captains don't command a T'varo!:P:P

REAL Star Trek, eh? How do we know? There is no REAL Star Trek for 2409-2410 to say what they do and don't do during that period of time.

And the terrific Mini premade of battlecloaked vapers and an healer is almost invincible...only a phenomenal Fed team has the hope of winning!
For all the other average Feds, well...15-0 score is awaiting them!:D

Actually that match was all kdf players lol

    Really.

This was the end result of one of our fleet internal private test matches:

    http://s7.directupload.net/images/140603/pnuieyg4.png

    Team Red -> A very retro 2 JHAS / 3 Wells line-up

    Team Blue -> 4 cloaked vapers / 1 JHAS

All people involved were very experienced veteran PvP'ers.

Bottom line, vapers can be dealt with. If you can't, then you're doing it wrong.

Of course it's fun sometimes to goof it up a bit, but keep in mind there is a reason why a traditional line-up of 2 tacs / 3 sci was and still is the preferred choice of experienced PvP premades.

If you ever meet such a classic line-up, then feel free to TRIBBLE your pants.
