Just wondering if anyone has noticed that there seems to be a problem with the Minetrap queue. No one is playing even though there are +50% marks, and the queue got to 14 and then it looks like everyone was removed from the queue.
I can't tell exactly what is happening that is why I am posting here and not just submitting a bug report.
Mine Trap died the moment they put the AFK penalties in. It was a popular map that the AFK farmers flocked to. It's also a long mission that involves ground combat, two things that people seem to hate in this game. All of that results in an unplayed map, even with an increase in rewards.
Personally I like that mission and played it a lot before it died off.
I've heard it suggested that people are even trolling the PVE queues and dropping out each time enough players are in the queue and it starts a countdown.
Probably not a problem with popular queues but that smaller ground ones might suffer though.
To be honest I reckon it's because people queue for it and have to wait ages to get enough players and them just get bored so go join ISE or something instead as it's always an immediate start for that queue.
It's not hard if you pay attention and learn what needs to be done. Keeping the miners alive at the end just needs the different teams to stick together. We only ever failed when some idiot went Rambo on the final escort part.
And with the new rep mark daily boxes it's a nice alternative to the same old space missions.
it wasnt an afk penalty that killed it, it was the removal of fleet mark bonus hours. those were the windows where we used to get enough people in the queue to get it to pop.
Basically, no one plays what is a great mission in my opinion, because the rewards suck for the amount of time invested. This is something that Cryptic should look at across the board and codify their mission rewards. 30 some odd marks is a terrible reward for the 15 minutes or more minutes it takes to run Mine Trap. (It's been so long that I can't remember how long it takes or the exact rewards.)
And then you have missions like ISE, which can be run in say 7-10 minutes in a PUG, and get a mess of marks plus a decent dil reward. Or worst yet is Epohh tagging, which takes maybe 3 minutes if you count getting a team member and teleporting to the fields. Do that for a few days and you end up with 400 marks for maybe 20 minutes of in game work.
Fixing this would actually get people back to often unused places like Mine Trap or Nukara.

And that's the problem with all MMOs today. So many players just want their shinies now. It is no longer for fun it seems.
Maybe people don't find the grind the fun part? Maybe they find the shinies the fun part. That's how Cryptic, and every other F2P MMO, make their money, so maybe that's a valid outlook.

Actually I was referring to the amount of satisfaction that I get from the mission... I already have all my Reps maxed... (not counting the 8472 ... Need another 3 days for that).
So your point is invalid... At least in regards to me.
Mine trap is boring and dull... I can do it on occation, but spending 10-15 minutes in that mission is generally not what I consider fun.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

As has been said, the only time this mission popped reliably was when the old fleet mark bonus was running.
Which is a pity, especially as ground has been getting dev attention recently. I know I've spent more time on ground and am coming to appreciate it more.
I often queue up for it if I'm just adminnning for a while but it never pops.
i like minetap, but the problem is, it's 4 different teams with people who cannot read and leave you to defend your area and go elsewhere. it is so rare for me to get into a game where my entire team stays in their assigned areas.
I was just referencing what you said about the lack of good rewards based on time spent.
Oh yes... This I generally agree on (although I think there are several missions that deserve more than 15 Marks rewards, but thats a different conversation).

I've seen it before and I don't think it's limited to Mine Trap. I've been in other queues for a lengthy period (KDF SBD for example), when without any notice, I'm no longer queued and the queue is empty.
Honestly, I don't know if it's a bug or some sort of timeout feature, but it's pretty damned annoying when it happens.

So... Theres your reason.
It gave great rewards if people actually played it right.

I'm confused...

perhaps people got frustrated with those idiots?
