I swear I get on these forums these days and yes I am going to generalize here but Federation players are becoming some of the biggest whiny babies.
"I want aceton assimliators!" "I want battle cloaks built into everthing!" Personal favorite "I want federation raiders!"And ofcourse the most asked for "I want a frigate carrier for the federation!"
Good god people? Are you all THAT LAZY? I am sure I just answered my own question there, but here's the better question, WHY do you need all that stuff? I mean seriously we're pretty much at that tipping point of everybody can drive the exact same thing all the way around, just a different cardboard cutout. Top it off Federation has more stuff than either other faction COMBINED.
Yet you must haz more stuff? Me personally I have 7 characters. 3 mains 1 in each faction, then 4 to grind EC and DIL when I need it.
Enough is enough. Want a frigate carrier. Roll a KDF and fly a vo'quv. Want battlecloaks on everything. Go play a Romulan. And for heavens sake. The Federation and I'll use big words and go slow for you:

But my fed main does have a raider.
The sad part: All that ranting about "cookie cutter," and the only way to do away with cookie cutter is remove all customization...which leaves you with pre-built cookie cutter.
I don't complain about stuff like that.
I think the problem might partially be that these forum voices you're seeing are the only ones you're seeing.
Who is going to make a thread or post saying, "I'm okay with not having <insert flavor of the month> on my <insert faction> characters."?
Don't believe for an instant that the negative or demanding loud posts are speaking for everyone.
Personally I, and therefore an indeterminate amount of others, enjoy the diversity.
No what I mean is each faction should have it's own strength at what it's good at.
Federation: Best sci ships around and tougher hulls.
KDF: They should have raiders and frigate carriers and a slightly higher alpha strike than Roms coming out of cloak.
Rom: Singularities and battle cloaks, and ofcourse the have the scimitars, kings of dps.
Granted I am sure there are other ways to separate each faction, but make them counter to eachother. Other games do this quite well infact. I watched a game, Battlestar Galactica online do this. Red vs Blue, literally THE EXACT SAME TECH, on both sides, just depended on which side ya flew for and it got BORING.
I am really hating to see STO slide the same way.

the federation doesn't have a carrier with frigate pets. that's a huge imbalance in pve.
the easiest fix is to make a JHAS hangar available in either the C-store or the Lobi store or, god forbid in the latinum store.
and here is a hint: most people don't play STO to be Kahless or Sela they play to be Picard, Kirk and Janeway. the game is centered around the federation, period. you PVPer/ Klink/ roms need to get over that simple fact. even the least successful fed C store items surpass the most successful klingon one monetarily.
If people want to be their favorite captain, fine. They want to fly a frigate carrier, wrong faction buddy and no it isn't a huge PVE imbalance. You're fighting NPCS for heavens sake. I mean good god federation more than make that up with ships like the Avenger, Vesta(aux cannons that barely drain aux power while using powers? yeah little strong there). Most of the cruisers doing Aux2batt and tanking npcs at will and doing FAR more DPS than a Vo'quv with carrier pets that seem to be drawn to that borg cube exploding.
Sorry PVE imbalance? Pfft more like the feds outweigh everybody else. And I'd know. Main is a Tac fed. Driven most of the ships out there on the fed side. Sorry Feds don't need anything else to tip the balance their way any further.

damn, klingons and romulan-KDF sided players must be INCREDIBLY lazy then, because they have all those. :rolleyes:
a fair bit of the fed stuff is obsolete, lets be honest, wherever you like it or not feds ship lack cloaks/battlecloaks/great consoles and have barely anything in return(lol extra 2k hull) isn't an excuse, and while they may have lot of ships, they still are generally weaker/less useful than the KDF/romulan equivalent.
the atrox is basically a bad vo'quv, the mogh is literally the avenger with a cloak inbuilt in it, so it doesn't waste a console, the bortas AND the scimitar are better flagships than the odyssey, the galaxy, which is a favorite ship of many, is amazingly weak(the d'deridex which is supposed to be romulan equivalent, both in game and most importantly as in canon, is vastly superior), the ar'kif is a better, more optimized armitage, i could go on, but come on, its pretty obvious cryptic does this to:
1 - sell more boxes
2 - maaaybe raise the population of the other factions, or at least encourage multiple characters, to they can sell more stuff.
one simply has to look at the profit contraband doffing/etc brings to KDF players to realize this(otherwise the feds would have an equivalent through the diplomacy or something).
also cryptic could fix 90% of those things by simply... making tac focused ships less optimal, why is a 5 tac ship ALWAYS good for most things, but a 5 eng/sci console ship isn't for instance?
people are asking for stuff because they want to be even with other factions(and at least for me, i want a FED carrier with fed frigates, cause i loved flying one in starfleet command II game, as well as commanding my own fleet in it as well).
i wish treads like these disappeared, they're so... stupid, its basically "people want to have fun i a way i don't like, its BAAAAAD!1", its almost amusing, almost.
also you're right, its not PvE imbalance, but IT IS FUN, that is the whole point of the game, to provide entertainment, i love carriers, i love playing with both huge ships and anything in RPGs/MMOs that can use pets/minions/etc and i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one.
Besides, it's kind of a silly notion to say that Group A looking at Groups B-Z will just take stuff from Groups B-Y. Or that Group Z will only take from Groups B-Y as well. Everybody takes from pretty much everybody...Feds, KDF, Romulans, Voth, Pakleds, you name it - they adapt or they die. A major exception would be the Borg breaking out the LOL at the Kazon, eh? But in general, it's what everybody does - we do it in real life too.

This arrogant attitude is why some of us will always hate the federation. you would be nothing and just an unneeded organization, if not for the other Empires or assorted would be powers out in the vastness of space.

have you ever even played KDF side?
the so called profit for contraband is mostly exploited by feddy bears cross over to smuggle things to fed toons. because items like duty officers on the KDF side cost allot more than they do for feds.
how many 5 tac console ships do you think the KDF has?
some complaints about ships are related to legal issues.
as for commanding a fleet none of us can do it.
Now, go young one, fight the good fight, for all non homosapien aligned factions.

By your logic, the Romulans would have never gotten the Ar'Kif, which you use, and the KDF would have never gotten the Dyson Destroyer, which you use, and the Federation would have never gotten the Avenger, which you use.
So, the counter-argument would have been..."Want a Dyson Destroyer? Play Fed. Want an Armitage? Play Fed. Want a Battle Cruiser? Play KDF"
erm, yes i have 3 regular KDF and 2 rom-KDFs, and i actually main one of the KDFs.
idk where you got the idea KDF stuff costs more, as long as you know when to buy, they're generally the same price(sometimes even cheaper), boffs are also ridiculously cheap compared to feds(it used to be opposite, but that changed several months ago).
the feds have 3 five-tac consoles, but one of which isn't optimal by any means, the kumari has only ONE eng boff slot, which is pretty bad, most people fly the charal for that reason, so only the fleet defiant and fleet prometheus are left, the romulans are honestly a joke with all their 5 tac console ships, but they can go either side, so if you to complain about something, complain about the romulans
also i actually asked many times for a KDF 5 tac console escort-like ship(personally i would like the idea of a 5 forward weapons BoP with 4 tac consoles), in any case i do want a klingon escort/BoP/raptor/escort carrier, KDF direly needs one, but this doesn't change the fact FED ships tend to be weaker than their equivalents on other factions, and that is one of the reasons people ask for stuff.
and to finish, i don't understand how a fed carrier is such an amazing impossibility, since it was allowed on SF:command II and there is even a novel with a fed carrier, remember the vesta was from a novel too.

considering they have been giving stuff people requested(even if they take forever to do so), they in fact do, they just don't post it.
i still don't get why the vesta is getting a hull increase though.
The TDF <--> AA trade has been suggested for quite some time by folks from both sides...there are folks from both sides who hated the idea of the trade.
If one were to look back at just the console trades...

Even the TDF <--> AA trade would be (Fed 1000 Zen) vs. (KDF 1500 Zen).
Then you've got to take into account how much folks are paying for the better KDF consoles, so that if the KDF wants the Fed item - they're going to be spending that much more EC on it. KDF got screwed over on the ZEN factor and gets screwed over on the EC factor...
...so one can see where certain members of the KDF playerbase might have figured out a way to give Fed players the finger with their feet as well, cause doing it with both hands just wasn't enough.
Unfortunatley, since LoR (I'm not sure why is this, but it's just my impression since I tended to see more intelligent discussions before) the intelligence level in this forum is - dumb.
Nothing more to say really. No wonder the devs. don't take the boards here seriously and that we're not getting the levels of communication we used to. If they have a good mind, they'd ignore this place completely.
