Multi-Vector-Advanced Escort thoughts

With the release of the Tempest Patrol Escort, most other Escort ships are going to be falling to the wayside. Personally I don't care for the ship, but I think revamping the existing ships over releasing new ships is a worthwhile idea.

So, I have been trying to come up with ways to improve existing ships to keeps them relevant. This gives players who already have those ships something to enjoy, and also provides a reason for people to buy the older ships (making more money for Cryptic).

The first ship that came to mind that would be easy to revamp was the Multi-Vector-Advanced Escort thanks to some of the recent advances the game has made.

An obvious first step would be upgrading the Multi Vector console to reflect the Saucer Separation consoles update, allowing it to be activated while moving at full impulse. Additionally the Vectors could be given carrier commands, something that Saucer Separation would also benefit from. That's not an upgrade however, that's just a tweak.

There are two ways the ship itself could be upgraded to keep it relevant. First is with the Dyson Science Destroyers gimmick, Dynamic Bridge Officer seating. The MVA separates into a Tactical, Engineering, and Science Vector, but the only difference between the three is minor power variants. Why not make the three Vectors actually DIFFERENT and worthwhile? Use the three Vectors to generate three different options for the player.

Standard mode having no Commnder Bridge officer, just run of the mill setup, but then based on which Vector Mode you choose dictate which bridge officer becomes Commander rank. This makes a single ship into a fairly effective multi-role vessel that can fight, heal or wield crowd control powers.

If that is too Over Powered however there is a second method that could be used to make the ships teeth sharper. Awhile back there was a short lied glitch that when a carrier ship used attack patterns (or some other powers) the fighters would also be granted the same buff as the carrier. Given that the MVA console separates a single ship into three, the ability to share buffs like this seems rather logical, the three ships are fighting as one individual after all.

I am fully aware that this post will likely be ignored or outright attacked as many of my other forum posts have been, but I wanted to at least share my thoughts for how Cryptic could go about keeping older ships relavent as time continues to introduce newer and more powerful options.

    New prometheus

    Commander tactical
    Ltc science
    Ltc universal
    Ltc engineer

Bonus, more robust mvam with "carrier commands" for pets

New defiant (i sure as hell hope cryptic doesn't make it this way)
    Commander tactical
    Ltc tactical
    Ltc universal
    Lt. Tactical

Bonus. Extra fore weapon, loss of aft weapon

I'm personally hoping for a boff loadout like this...
    Commander tactical
    Ltc engineer
    Ltc commander
    Lt. Tactical.
But I doubt cryptic will throw me this bone...
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

What did they do for cruisers that were obsoleted by the Avenger, or Science ships that were obsoleted by the Vesta, or all of the ships that were obsoleted by Romulans?

When they need a quarterly revenue bump, they will give you something to buy.

Well, if we're talking about reviving obsolete ships, nearly every ship needs to get improved. Because Scimitar ;)

Sovereign can easily make 18K. It's old.

My fleet MVAE could do 16K. No 5th weapon or tac consoles.

    DPS isn't everything. Relax.

Scimitars get boring after a while.

Personally I'd like to see the MVAE get carrier commands for the other two sections, just like the Gal-X should get that for the saucer section and lose the hanger(Gal-X never needed a damn hanger).

    MVAE needs an overhaul.

This has nothing to do with DPS, it has to do with viability. The new patrol Escort basically replaces every existing Escort thanks to its universal Lt Commander boff, it can copy the boff layout of ever other Escort.

Additionally the MVA has never really been that big of a deal, the three Vectors are virtually identical, why bother selecting Pattern Gama when its only bonus is 5% better shields than Vector Alpha and Beta yet its labeled as the 'science' Vector.

Make the three sections DIFFERENT. I would suggest unique abilities based on the three Vectors, but changing the boff layout would be more likely and easier to program.

kinda hopeing this gets the 'refit' treatment like the patrol did. just swap the LTC eng with an LTC sci and its done. the good old MVAM is more then enough to make up for the tailgun and console attack gimic the patrol got. we will proboly see it if they ever get gen 2 sep tech workin on it.
