Only Attack if target selected

I have the Controls option "Only Attack if target selected" to false. Therefore my ships weapon's should automatically attack with out me selecting a target, however this appears to be broken. If I'm not being directly fired upon, even if there are enemies in range, my ships weapons don't automatically file.

Switch the auto attack options to: maintain while button is pressed (options -> controls -> bottom of the page)

Press your fire button once when you enter a space map -> auto fire as soon as enemy ships get in range

Thanks! This is what I was looking for. The option "maintain while button is pressed" is totally missleading by its name. I was expecting that to require I hold the spacebar or something.
