I would play it this is the kind of update i've been looking for dose anyone know a possible release date
How can there be a possible release date for something that does not exist?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
We don't need an STO 2, it's only been out for four years. Wow has been out for ten years and it has no sequel, just several expansions, which is what this game is starting to get.
ok has anyone at least herd of a galaxy class pack with a cannon galaxy and galaxy-x class update on the inside just like the ds9 pack dose for the defiant class ship.
Read carefully, Cryptic is developing a MMO based game like Star Trek Online but the in the next style :
1. Command from your bridge
2. Battle from your bridge in ( Bridge Commander Style )
3. Navigate not from a dull space map but from your bridge.
4. From your ready room you can order crew to do stuff onboard your ship
5. Have Story related interactions from every part of your ship.
6. You beam down from your transporter room to visit world or take a shuttle craft
7. Fight the enemy off your decks in PVE or PVP Style
8. You get orders from Starfleet Command on the view screen or from your ready room.
9. Love story's can involve if the interaction is there.
10. Visit Starfleet Academy to hire your crew or Earth Space Dock to Hire experienced Crew.
This is a small part that would be possible would you play it, I certainly would and if they would give it the WOW factor I would even set aside the old STO for it.
Of Course this would be all voiced no more reading, just like SWTOR...
In style off Elite Force or Bridge Commander!!!
So what would you vote for ???
Yes I would support it with my wallet (the best support their is )
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

Not till after the summer event, at the very least.

PWE shareholder internal memos hint at something big coming in second quarter 2015. Could be ...
wink, wink, nudge, nudge
The more I think about this, a Trek MOBA makes sense.
They almost certainly had to buy extra rights after Infinite Space crashed and that extra money likely would go into making something. (Why spend just to avoid a loss?)
They're freer with voiceover now and according to Geko have rights to the audio library from the shows. (Curious if that counts music. But Geko mentioned they could use voiceover.)
Again this points to an expanded Trek license.
But given PWE's other acquisitions and how several games have gone MOBA... and given how the Transformers MMO was converted into more of a MOBA... I could see that.
Basically your team play Diablo type games. Could be ground and space in that format, particularly if it centers on playing canon characters and ships in a 3/4ths perspective dungeon maze/RTS setting. Wouldn't kill STO or compete that hard and would be strong as a cross promotion.
Dang. I'd have some opinions on the kinds of cross promotion they could do.
Judging by the shoddy work the dev's do even for weekend events, there is no way the current staff could do any better with a STO2 than what you see here. I don't think they can think big enough, and still have the discipline required to produce a new product without a massive bug infestation. If they were to open a new version and close down this one, I'll be gone...

While that is a compelling point, keep in mind that new projects (like sequels), get newer, bigger budgets and are capable of hiring additional or completely new and separate teams for development.
And Cryptic has shown agility in the past when staffing and developing projects concurrently. So they could assign current staff to a new project as additional resources to a project that has its own separate budget and sort of stack the deck for the crunch time (like they did with both Neverwinter and Star Trek).
And also keep in mind that Cryptic North is still a very real thing that the company does have and it is only nominally assigned to Champions right now.
I guess what I'm getting at is ... a sequel to any of their current games, is definitely something they could do if PWE is indeed allocating resources for such a thing.
It's all speculative, but it's all within the realm of possibility.
