Andorian Fleet Advanced Phasers

Forgive my lack of knowledge on the situation but I am posting this to find out for a friend. He purchased the Andorian Kumari escort today to get the Andorian Fleet Advanced Phasers. He has enough fleet credits, he has enough dilithium, and the fleet has enough provisions for him to purchase them. However, they still show grayed out from what he stated when all other weapons on the Fleet Weapons tab show up as purchasable. Before posting here, I checked to see if they appeared in the fleet store and read through the description for the weapons. They state a character has to be Lieutenent General to purchase them. When clicking them, it states the I must own a Andorian escort, which my friend does. Is there some sort of bug with the fleet store?

Just to try and be more clear, the character he wanted the Andorian Fleet Advanced Phasers on was his KDF Trill. These weapons do appear in the KDF fleet store.

I had thought that also but when I checked for him, there was nothing in any description I could find that listed the Andorian Fleet Advanced Phasers are for Federation characters only. He just uploaded a couple of screenshots for me to link to. I checked these on my account also but I couldn't screenshot them as the windows disappeared when typing hte screenshot command into the chat box.

You have to claim the ship.. I have the andorian and you cant use them KDF side.. Also Galor weapons show up grey even if you do not own the ship.. same with fighters from voth or jem'dread.
I know it kinda sucks.. its to bad that once you own a ship it doesn't unlock flavor weapon and fighters for the whole account.. but they do not
That's true, but there is also usually something to say that in the item description. There is no such mention in the item descriptions that these weapons are Federation only.
Thank you, everyone for your answers and suggestions. Although my friend isn't happy that he wasted 2,000 ZEN on a ship for weapons for his KDF character that he can't get. I appreciate the quick responses for me to pass on to him. Hopefully he can get some sort of refund.
Aren't the ships you mentioned Lock Box ships? Those ships are not account wide unlocks. The Andorian Z-Store ships are account wide unlocks. I don't claim to understand how this stuff works but I would say there is a lack of information in the ships description and the fleet store Andorian weapons.

Thanks for the clarification. I have never seen the weapons from the Galor so I had no idea they worked in a similar fashion. Are they supposed to show up in the fleet stores?

For my own curiosity with the thread subject. Why do the Andorian weapons list Raptors and Raiders for ships if they were not intended for use by anything other than Federation Captain's? If I am not mistake, Raptors and Raiders are KDF ship types only.

Do Fleet Elite Phasers show up for Klingon's and do Fleet Elite Disruptors show up for the Federation even though they can't be purchased? The fleets I am in don't have either of those unlocked and I haven't seen my friend around to ask if his do.

Seems like the Andorian phasers require the ship in the chars hangar. And the spiral wave disruptors are now an char unlock, too. :mad:
That's what I thought when looking at them. Why list KDF ships in the descriptions if you can't aquire them on KDF aligned characters?

Because the list of valid ships is based on the weapon "class." All Dual Cannons and Dual Heavy Cannons that aren't restricted to a single ship belong to the Dual and Dual Heavy Cannon "classes," which determine the ship availability (which is basically anything that's not a "normal" Cruiser, Flight Deck Carrier, or Science Vessel).
Andorian weapons are simply normal weapons of the "Andorian Phaser" "element," and Cryptic never saw fit to introduce additional restrictions for those weapons because KDF and Romulans never get the chance to purchase the weapons by virtue of never being able to claim any of the T5 Kumari variants... adding in additional ship class restrictions is redundant.
Also, there is one Raider (Breen Plesh Brek) and a few Battlecruisers (Avenger plus Lockbox/Lobi Battlecruisers) available to the Federation, so they can't directly eliminate those classes anyway.
like the part that says you must own the ship? a ship that a KDF toon can NOT own.
To me, that sounds more like owning it in the Z-Store. If it had said, you have to claim the Andorian ship on your character, that would make a lot more sense to me. Perhaps PWE should clarify by removing the KDF ships mentioned on the weapons and also mention that a player has to commission the ship in order to have access to those weapons.
Confusing stuff like that that others I play with in STO experience keeps me from spending money on ZEN and from spending it in the Z-Store

No, they should remove the Andorian Phasers from the KDF Fleet store. It's much simpler and won't introduce problems when Fed players try to use them on the Avenger (a Battlecruiser) or the Plesh Brek (a Raider), or if Cryptic ever decides to class a lockbox ship as a "Raptor" rather than the equivalent "Escort" class, and Andorian beams and single cannons don't have class restrictions anyway.

Well, it is Season 9: The New Accord. Since they gave us Space Hondas, why not cross-faction access to faction-specific items.
Actually, now that I read that initial half-joking response... let the Federation keep its Andorian Phasers. We all keep complaining about diluting faction identity, homogenization, etc. So lets keep that thought in mind when we ask for things to be applied in such a manner. It'd be nice if they cleaned up the Fleet Store, though. While an equivalent might be a appropriate (maybe crimson Ferasan disruptors, golden Reman plasma weapons, or the like), asking for something that such as that is similar to the lock box trades.
So, if we're going to dilute faction identity in such a manner, expect to see it in a lock box... and expect something better to go into the Reward Pack for the Federation relative to what the Klingon Empire gains. :P
