Does STO run really bad for anyone else since S9?

Ever since S9 came out I have been adjusting every setting in the game trying to make it run more smoothly. But nothing works, before S9 I could run the most missions perfectly on high settings, now I have almost everything turned down an it still runs like TRIBBLE. :(

Also, im using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 card.

There is definitely graphics problems. There are times when I'm walking on the ground and suddenly the screen goes completely black for a few seconds. Happens a lot on Qo'nos for some reason.

nVidia card as well? The Secret World also has similiar issue with nVidia cards that uses drivers that are newer then 332.21. So you could try rolling back the drivers to that and trying does that sort it out.

Yes, same issue. Turn everything to minimum still low frame rate, sluggish response time, and sections of map vanishing.
    Nvidia card as well.

I think they messed with the dynamic lighting and/or shadow effects somehow, and not in a good way.

Overall the game still runs fine most of the time, but there are a lot of fights where my framerate drops so low that the game is unplayable. Starbase 24 is the worst. Before season 9, I had no problems running that mission.

I'm also having problems with the invisible weapons/shields. I'm starting to wonder if there are any players that do not have problems with the weapons dissapearing.

    I'm also running nVidia

Yup, staggers on ESD or even in K7 orbit (Of all places) when it ran smooth as ice pre-S9.

In Heavy combat I have to activate my performance boost which REALLY heats up my CPU.

whats really odd is that lowering the graphics doesn't really affect the FPS too much anymore, at least here, so i put everything near the max, since i'll get 20-25 FPS anyway(in heavy combat), pre S9 i could easily get 35-40 FPS at dyson's sphere in heavy combat by dropping a couple of things like anti-aliasing and shadows to low, but now... no difference at all, i guess cryptic bungled up their code.

i wish they would stop adding new "shiny" graphics and focus on optimizing stuff.

Yeah I think this is the most likely culprit. They definitely screwed something up big time.

I popped into the No Win Scenario last night for the first time since S9 went live and my god my framerate dropped into the single digits. That has literally never happened to me before. I actually had to go into my graphics settings while I was being shot at and turn the lighting and shadows down so I could get more than 1 frame every second or two. Even with no enemies on the map it was still chugging until I did that.

Season 9 saw a supposed graphics "revamp" since then High Density areas become lag fests and framerate killers.

    Missing Weapon Animations
    Missing Shield Animations
Planet Killers Vanish mid fight for a few seconds
Undine Rifts and Bubbles cause MAJOR Lag in high density zones
Normal Single player maps are skipping and jumping
    The list goes on....

What was supposed to be an improvement in graphics turned out to be a nightmare for probably 80% of the people that play the other 20% are the people who sit at the exchange all day lol

They need to take a serious look at it ... and quite frankly they need to STOP testing this TRIBBLE on their high end machines ...

    I have a nice machine.. 2.8 gig 6 core Phenom II processor 16 gigs ddr3 ram 1.5 tera bytes of drive space Sata3 , Nvidia gt520 1 gig ddr5

Pre Season 9 I could run Full Graphics and NEVER LAG ever... now ... its very frequent

and before the trolls start in with "your internet suxxors" im on a 25 meg down 5 meg up fiber connection...

yes i've noticed the game certainly doesn't run as smooth as pre-season 9. Played with settings not made any difference.

my machine might be 4 years old but still should be capable of handling this game easily

i5 quad core processor 2.66 GHz
    8gb ram
    ATi Radeon HD 4850 512mb
    Windows 7 64 bit

shame really as the game graphically is beautiful.

It is also strange that my laptop that runs an AMD APU, has better performance now than before S9.

Something is going on, reported though...

I've seen odd lag spikes as well.
It's definitely not CPU, I have Process Explorer running while I play (all the time really), and there's no spikes when it happens.

I get it on ESD a lot, mostly near the entrance to the Admiral's area (and inside). I've seen it in other places as well, not normally on combat maps though.
The last time I got lag was after transwarping to Tau Dewa. The moment I arrived I was getting 5fps.
Once I accelerated and went about a ly, the lag instantly went away, back up to 30fps. I even pointed the camera back where I came from, no change.

It does happen frequently enough to be frustrating.

I'm using an ATI card, btw (Radeon HD 6790). Also a core i7 920 and 12GB RAM.

On the bigger downside, my laptop (Lenovo T500) has worse performance than before. I now have to play at half-resolution (now called graphics scaling), where before I could have my graphics at the native resolution and get about 20fps. Very unhappy about that.
    LTS Since Beta (Jan 2010).

Just for reference, ticket number 140511-000096As I said, please bug report if you're experiencing this, ink this thread into the report; it's a major problem for those of us experiencing it and, to date, the Dev's haven't even acknowledged that it's a problem.

I stopped reporting bugs because of the appalling responses and response times. They don't acknowledge these issues on the site, like the whiteouts, which I recently stopped experiencing, but has instead been replaced with lag. I preferred the whiteouts. I could just re-log.

Instead of doing what they want, do what they don't want. Ask what they are doing about lag on the Twitter accounts of the management. They might do something then.

I admit my game is far more sluggish post season 9, I thought it was my internet until a couple of fleet mates were on about it yesterday, and now you lot. I guess Season 9 changed something it wasn't suppose to.

Yep, I also have gfx problems, mainly massive lag. It was never like this before S9.

    My Build:

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD.
    2X 4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM.
    Intel Core I5 3570K Processor.

Should I start posting again after all this time?

I don't think its people systems. I build a PC to play Skyrim with max settings and lots of Mods, photo realistic mods.
    Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUAS V
CPU: I73770K stock processor speed is 3.50 overclocked to 4.2
    Ram: 32 Gigs Kingston supercooled
Video cards: 2 EVGA CLASSIFIED GTX680 with 4gb of ram each.
HardDrive: 256gb HDD KINGSTON x2 1 for my OS and the other for games.
    Powersupply: 1200 watt thermaltake

When I play sto, my weapons disappear, when im doing the undine battleground it drops framrates to maybe 5. I have problems and its not the rig. But like everyone else before season 9 STO ran smooth, smooth as melted butter. But Now it runs like a melted nutty bar (clunky). I like doing the STF starbase 24 cause of the good rewards but now FPS drop to around 5. Its unplayable. Another problem I have is sometimes things seem to freeze up and then they jump like 10 seconds ahead (I have awesome 50meg download and 2 meg upload speeds) so its not lag. Sometimes I blow up for no reason sometimes enemys disappear. Truth is theres just to many bugs to nit pick ATM. Maybe after a few updates cryptic will fix it.

Not just Nvidia, I have an Ati 7900 series card and I experienced a notable loss of performance after S9 in some areas, notably the dyson space zones. Disabling dynamic lightning solved it for me. Sadly it doesn't help with the missing weapons gfxs in busy areas like the new Undine BZ.

Yes, my performance went through the floor when Season 9 dropped.

No, I haven't wasted my time putting in any tickets since the last 4 I've filed all got responses which positively screamed that the person reading said reports learned English after Chinese, Korean, Latin, Ancient Aramaic, Klingon, and Ubbi Dubbi and has no clue what I'm talking about- if it didn't look liike they had 2 reports open and sent the responses for report A to the person who made report B.

Just one more reason I don't care for Season 9...Kit revamps interesting, everything else "why even bother?" :(

Dear god yes...i have had this same problem since S9 and am using Nvidia G-force card...

My internet is solid and was starting to think my laptop was burning out (bout 3/4 years old) or something... good to know this is something at cryptics end but also pissed cause that means it will take forever to be fixed :(

hopefully im wrong but i see this going on till S10... yeah

For the most part, I would say the game runs fine for me, though I do get a slideshow during certain events within the Dyson battlezones, even sometimes within the allied area near the minefield, and during 20 player PvE events.

I'm using an fairly mid-range notebook Nvidia GPU (GTX 765M w/2GB GDDR5 VRAM), but seeing as hyefather's monster setup is also having the same issue, it doesn't seem like this is a GPU bottleneck.

Disabling SSAO helps noticeably, but not enough to make large battles with lots of particle effects everywhere fluid. Maybe there are too many particles being spawned and it's killing the fill rate (ie. dust clouds, atmospheric haze) or the dynamic lighting given off from weapon fire is causing it even though the number of dynamic lights is at a fixed value in the options.
