But seriously, there's nothing wrong with the phasers.

There are lots of things wrong with the phasers.

Eh, I can't really agree with that. I've been using phasers on every single Federation ship I own since I started STO and I have always done more than fine.
I don't understand what the whole fuss is about. *shrugs*

I'd be fine with fused mines on the "4th" aft slot on say a Raptor or something. *shrug*

I don't think this whole fused weapon thing is that big of a deal. The Galaxy-X did it first technically, even if there's no visual for it in the equipment window. Unless fused weapons are actually defined by the visual in said window, of course.

I love how OP is whining about an extra weapon that basically adds one more weapon slot to his ship that no other ship will have or get merely because he can't remove or min-max it.

Holy ****, it's a EXTRA WEAPON. Take a similar ship with the same amount of weapon slots not counting the fused one and, given both are min-maxed out, the one with the fused weapon will do more damage cuz it simply has another weapon.

Who gives a flying **** if it doesn't match the rest of your loadout?

Besides what's already been said, let me add one thing:

With the advent of the Spire Tac. Vulnerability Consoles, you can now equip your ship with as many rainbows as you like. Please check this out yourself. Don't take my word for it.

View the full table From: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Advanced_Tactical_Vulnerability_Consoles

Effects available on Advanced Tactical Vulnerability Consoles.

    Mk XII Vulnerability Locater
    +1.6% Crit Chance
    • [+Beam]~~~+27.9% Beam Damage
    • [+Can]~~~~+27.9% Cannon Damage
    • [+Mine]~~~+27.9% Mine Damage
    • [+Torp]~~~+27.9% Torpedo Damage

    Mk XII Vulnerability Exploiter
    +8% Critical Severity
    • [+Beam]~~~+27.9% Beam Damage
    • [+Can]~~~~+27.9% Cannon Damage
    • [+Mine]~~~+27.9% Mine Damage
    • [+Torp]~~~+27.9% Torpedo Damage

And so, as you can see, by using these consoles, you can have many different types of weapons on your ship, and still have a leveraging tactical advantage. Even with a tailgun, which to me, is very very cool.

P.S. I am however using all Elite Phasers along with the tailgun on my shiny new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class. I also have the Phaser Point Defense System plugged in. It's a universal console.

    :D Happy Hunting!
