That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Er, no, try again. I think you will find it is when these lot start their working day !
ANd we the customers have to fit into their working day it seems. Funny for a game that runs 24 hours a day and crosses many time-zones. Staggered maintenance would be a start, but I expect it asking too much of the Cryptic/PWE employee's.
Its good you dont care.
Think about what you're asking:
"I want these people to wake up and go to work early because I don't live in their timezone, but I HAVE to play video games RIGHT NOW."
As a business, they provide a service to you if you so choose to want that service and pay for it, (or not, after all no one makes anyone pay to play this game anymore). They are by now means forced to change to YOUR schedule just because you want their provided services, but live somewhere else.

I completely forgot about the weekly maintenance today, and logged on to level up my newly made Nausicaan privateer, right as login was aborted. How's that for timing? I saw the notice on the launcher, but it was time for maintenance and the light was green, so I thought it might have been delayed. It was, by like 2 minutes. :P. Time to eat bacon and watch Star Trek I guess. Play Dom Jot human?!
Dang, was really hoping they would have fixed the kits/modules in the exchange. Still a lot of good fixes though...as long as they don't create more along the way
But the grapes have been absolutely superb. There was a mixup and we got Smirk's shipment of peeled grapes. Absolutely divine. Sometimes I forget how splendid Risa grapes are.
Darn it, do I have to order ANOTHER inspection of the shipping service...
Well, at least it was a small and fairly pleasant mix-up.
How is the bedchamber? Is it luxurious enough? Are the gold threads in the curtains holding up well? Is the 18'x18' mattress soft enough? Are the chambermaids appropriately servile and...attractive? Are the various LCD HDTVs functioning properly and getting all the HBO channels plus BNN (Ba'al News Network)?
Hang on, just checking my list to see what needs to be checked off here before I can count that palace towards my Nepotism Quota...

Awwww, bad timing I suppose.
Dom Jot looks wonderful, but if my skills at billiards would be reflective of it, I would fail miserably. :P

This isnt really relevant to todays notes but wanted to let you know Trendy that the texture loss bug was fixed perfectly last week. I shall lift the bacon restriction ban to the west coast and in fact increase the supply just for Cryptic studios, Well done. All this bacon talk, must now go make some!

I know some of my minions were very distraught over the bacon restriction. Thankfully, as I get most of my Bacon from my personal Bacon mines, I was not affected. It is good to know that we came to a solution over the matter. :P
Everytime cryptic gives you something for free, even if its only because they cant sell it, you are happy and everything is ok.
No, actually, i'm not happy. Free ship slots don't make up for the bugs, and at no point have I said that it does.
Cryptic needs to fix the bugs, but like some people here, i'm a realist - these things don't happen overnight and sometimes, bugs are so elusive that they may prove an issue for years. Others get pushed back because they're less important (Marauding boff customisation versus, say, game crashes).
What i'm also not is ungrateful. Cryptic gives me two free ship slots and doesn't put them behind a 15-day grind and I think that's generous. They didn't have to give anyone free ship slots, just because they aren't selling doesn't mean that it automatically makes sense to start giving them away. They still make money off them, even if it's not as much as they make from actual ships.
You're complaining about getting something for free. If Cryptic had said they were increasing available ship slots and weren't giving free slots away, you'd probably complain that they weren't giving free slots to all players.
As I say, you're finding things to complain about where there isn't something to complain about. Free items are not something to complain about.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
There needs to be a bacon mine in STO. We need to be able to mine for more than just dilithium. Can't eat dilithium for breakfast, after all; it hurts when you bite down on it.

why not put a farm on it, so people can get lots of bacon lol.

Is this the latest trend? Someone complaining about the time of maintenance that has been the standard for how long now? My goodness it's like the first patch notes they've read, or else they would notice someone makes this silly post fairly frequently now.
Oh and to l30p4rd, classy remark about Americans. I can only imagine your QQ if an American made a similar remark about your nationality on here...
That has to be some kind of running gag here... The answer is known for years now:
No, the point is that it always happens when it affects the fewest players. If you graph out the number of players currently in the game over the course of 24 hours, you will come up with something that is roughly a sine wave. Our maintenance happens at the lowest point in that sine wave.
And I forsee a 'I'm a paying customer' themed response. Because being a 'paying customer' apparently means that you have the right to make completely unreasonable demands. and hold ridiculous expectations.
All are paying customers... So choosing the timeslot with the least population on the servers is just a good decision then.

If Star Trek Online was an Open-Source (GPL) Game, we would have a low-grind fork.
I know I can't log on atm, but was hoping to get the update downloaded (like I have other patch days) but I get "unable to authenticate". I hope that's not a unforeseen patch-day issue.
Edit: got launcher to launch after 10mins or so.
Hmm, tribble server is working!
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Everyone knows that Bacon harvested from the field is stringy and far too lean.
"Queen's Bacon" as it is known, can only be found in very rare ore veins. This superb-standard Bacon must be harvested deep below the surface of Ferenginar to yield a truly decadent meal.

Right in the middle of the European afternoon AGAIN.
I take it here in EU we now have to assume everything will be done at a time that is convenient for muricans ?
More like convenient for Cryptic. And they happen to be on the west coast of 'murica'. I'm only 2hrs ahead of them and I'm finding the time inconvenient too.

I still have problems with the mac client, the textures are killing me.

Exactly why it's so annoying to see every week.
Yep, don't blame Cryptic in the slightest and I would do the same thing.
