Pants-suits are not formal wear, they are business wear. I want a real fancy dress for my ladies, not...what they have now.

As for skants...they're canon, they should be in. Even if they weren't, options are options.

If you're going to pick a fancy dress at least pick a nice one, not that frilly monstrosity.

Other than agreeing with a suit for females (not a 'pant' suit though, pants are underwear in Britain :P), 'sides I wouldn't call it a suit unless it cam with trousers anyway.

But can we have a no tie option for males please (and not those weird string things either)

    Also, waistcoat not vest :D.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I would support formal attire for female characters, you know a nice blouse and suit jacket with a mini skirt, and give the girl a choice of some killer heals too.
    mini skirt
    mini skirt
Enough people have responded to this fool's second sentence already, so I won't bother quoting it.

Your outfit idea doesn't sound like formal attire to me. Just a response which sounds typical from the Many Men Roleplaying Girls bandwagon who don't like the idea of a woman actually wanting to look nice instead of looking like something found in a corner of a red light district.

Personally, the only reason why I haven't brought the formal attire outfit is because for me, it's just another outfit pandering to the sad need for sexual gratification in pixel form for people like you.

I was thinking about this the other day, why is there no female suit option? Seems like it would be pretty simple to include in the pack.

And besides... The dresses clip through the skin so bad I never wear them on my toons anyways.

yeah that whole formal wear stuff is a bad design. it needs time back in development and i really dont like the dress for the female character, its just horrible to look at and that stupid cutaway around the legs, bland color of the dress as well. the tux is not much better with the tie and certain head movements creating clipping issues near the collar bone area, very little color adjustment can be made to it.

there needs to be a bigger array of options for formal wear and you can make your female toon look sexy without revealing anything towards that end. but yes, if your going for a formal look with with skirts, anything just south of the border is a no-no, just north of the knee is more reasonable and respectable.

Suits for the ladies, yes. Skirt... Glasses.

    Oh yeah

Oh, and +1 for the Starfleet TNG Skant for males. I just want to hear the howling of horror at ESD all the way at Qo'nos.

I find the slut-shaming here pretty offensive.

I think I'd prefer that no resource is ever assigned to this kind of rubbish.

Seriously, it's Star Trek Online and you want an artist spending time making ridiculous contemporary formal outfits rather than working on alien designs, uniforms, armours etc.?

Some nice, professional looking female business attire would be nice. Especially with a very short skirt to unprofessionalize it.

That... doesn't make any sense. This conversation doesn't have anything to do with mimicking sexual characteristics.

Yes, I have. But that's irrelevant to my post. Again, this issue isn't about mimicking sexual characteristics.

I agree a nice skirt, matching heels scoop neck top or lovely lace trimmed blouse with a blazer . or a gorgeous loose off the shoulder sweater matching necklace with starfleet pendant.
Party dresses are nice.. but not every outing needs a formal party dress.. but a nice sexy casual outfit would be very sweet.

The most you can hope for is gender neutral selections. This isn't a public venue and no matter what may be politically correct in this confused real world we live in, what happens in the game is controlled by people who might have more conservative interests. They simply don't have to include things that they feel the majority of their audience may not be comfortable with.
Star Trek Online will not benefit from ugly men running around in lacy gowns, but a woman in a suit has no uncomfortable sexual overtones to make investors cringe.
That said, they would need to redesign these clothing options to fit the female body shape, it isn't simply a matter of just turning on an option.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

Huh...? Those seem too synonymous to be used in that context.

That would imply that it isn't the fault of the ones that are cringing.

I could live with that if the devs could.

    Inb4 Gorn in cocktail dress.

Don't be absurd, Gorn would look much better in a sundress; it would suit their figure more.

Conservative and confused are hardly analogous in any dictionary I've read.

Hardly, of course they are at fault, but they are also calling the shots. We aren't talking merely about Cryptic or PWE, but also CBS who has the last word and these companies have shareholders and have to worry about their public image.
People can talk about how everyone is so enlightened in the future and how cross dressing is completely normal and acceptable, however never do you actually see it in practice save for one glimpse in one episode in all of the movies and TV series in the entire franchise. It doesn't really mean that it doesn't happen, it just not something that they chose to highlight in the show.
I can support a female suit option because I think it's sensible, the other suggestions I don't support because I know they are motivated by people that just want to look absurd.
This is Star Trek Online not Saint's Row in Space.

I'd like to think that the term "cross dressing" would effectively be nonsensical, as clothing wouldn't then be attributed to either sex. But that's just me.

I don't understand your logic in assuming that people want to dress in a way that creates that opinion from you personally.
