I'd be ok with some system native to Federation ships that would go hand to hand with what the Federation is suposed to represent in Star Trek. Like some innate sensor mechanic or sth.
What bugs me is the constant complaining on the boards for Fed. cloaking. I don't want to see that happen, from a lore perspective and for keeping this game resembling Star Trek.
It would kill any will I have to play my Fed. characters if Fed. ships start getting cloaks, I kinda like staying true to ST and posing around like a white knight when I'm on my Fed characters. Plus it would further kill faction diversity, which is a very bad thing IMHO.
I don't really feel that my Fed. ships are missing something, but if they really need to gain something - it should be tech native to Starfleet, not ripping-off the cloaks from the other factions.
This a agree with for the bulk of the Federation ships. I do not think everyone is saying put cloaks on all our ships. I think its more.. We have THREE ships that can cloak.. make it innate.. they are flavor ships.
Then buff and give something flavor wise to the rest of the Federation ships. Bring them up to par with the othe factions through something that's Star Fleet..
I proposed a test to determine your argument's validity.
You have yet to carryout said test or except it.
I now believe your argument is nothing more than a ploy for you to try to get you way.
*Hands kelshando a tissue.*
I will not make it simple:
You want to cloak?
>Roll a Klingon.
You want to tank?
>Roll a Human.
You want hit and run?
>Roll a Romulan.
You want to crit hard?
>Roll a Romulan.
You want to be the hero?
>Roll a Fed.
You want to cry about not cloaking?
>Roll a Fed.
Curtain faction do curtain things. Please get over it.

Curtain factions have unfair advantages over the other. There bias get over it.
lol I find that last "fix" rather funny. What are those mysterious advantages the KDF has over the other factions that make it so OP and unbalanced?
Seriously, in this time and age of STO, to complain about the KDF having advantages is so old-school, but hillarious nevertheless. The last debatable advantage the KDF has left are frigate pets for carriers, which are not even KDF exclusive any longer for those that have a bit more EC.
The only faction currently having unfair advantages is the Romulan one, because of the Boffs and their stacking as well as having every single ship in the lineup with a 2-piece set.
Some might even say that the - 40 power is not much of a penalty for the built-in singularity abilities, which is true at least for the T'varo - I've experienced myself.

Ya well its the same old Klingon players arguing that cloak is just fine.. there is no advantage to cloak.. you have 5% more hull as feds.. when they darn well know its hell of a advantage being invisible to your enemy. So had to add that last one
I do not think I have seen any MMO that has done stealth in a way that didn't give way to much advantage to the stealth class... the closest I think I have seen with balancing a stealth class would of been war hammer online and that was do to the timer limit and the longer your are stealthed the less effective eyou are coming out of it. Meaning you had to time it well to use.

There is an advantage to cloak - the opening strike. There are also risks that come with the cloak. I currently have 5 Fed. ships that have no issues detecting stealthed oponents, only 2 of which are science ships. When I see the cloaked ship, she's gone - that's the risk.
You wanna' know what runs with no risk under cloak? Scimitar. Yet you claim that the KDF is OP compared to the other factions.

feds tend to have the better Shield modifiers and certainly the better Sci. It is a distinct advantage to be invisible to your enemy, an advantage to feds do enjoy on three ships.
Stalkers in CoX where fairly balanced in my opinion.
Klingon fan boys IQ's must be pretty low... I never said Klingons were op I said cloak is a unbalanced vs federation ships and that fed ships are not compensated for it. It's you Klingon players screaming its fair, its fair..
That the ONLY 3 ships that feds have that get cloak should be innate just like ALL other cloaking ships.. or have it as a device.. that giving up a console is not right.
All I did was point out the flaws in the logic when you Klingon fan boys came in screaming its all fair like you have for years. You know its not fair.. and it was you guys that started whining when mass amounts of feds all switched to Romulans for their cloaks.
No where did I say give all fed ships cloaks. Only that the 3 ships feds have get there cloaks just like the rest of the cloak capable ships do.
The thing is I have two level 50 Romulans, two level 50 Klingons and three level 50 Feds.. At least I can admit to where there is a bais.. such as space traits.. the fact that you fan boys are so vocal against any balance change (ad have been for years) shows that you are bias and not looking at objectively.
But yet they'll roll a Romulan and still complain that the KDF is OP :D
Or maybe they want to use Federation ships to be on par with Romulan and Klingon ships so they do not have to use Romulan ships.. I know balance between faction... its shocking!! :P

Hey, if innate cloaks are that important to you, you'll play a faction that has them. Otherwise you should probably just adapt to either using a console slot or not having one.
Or maybe they want to use Federation ships to be on par with Romulan and Klingon ships so they do not have to use Romulan ships.. I know balance between faction... its shocking!! :P
There is only one thing true with your misbegotten thought process, is that the KDF & Fed lineup is not on par with the Romulans. The KDF & Feds however, still go by the balance they have with each other.
You want parity?
There is no 5 TAC Console KDF BOPs, Raptors, Destroyers... While the Feds have how many now for years?
There are 2 KDF Sci Vessels, the Veranus, the DSD. This is in sharp contrast to the dizzying array of effective Fed SCI Vessels, to include the Vesta / "Besta" and a Sci Vessel to cater to every playstyle you can prefer.
Up until the recently with the Mogh, the last endgame KDF C-Store ship was the Bortasqu'... from years ago.
Or, how about this... let's talk about the parity in the number of playable ships between the KDF & Feds. Yeah? Okay?... LOL, didn't think so.
On and on.
Come back when you know more about the different factions in the game. Until then, stick to what you only know of, the Feds. And keep your ASSumptions about things that you don't know about to yourself.

Nice little tangent.. on nothing..
Ships balance has nothing to do with ship numbers.... and we can play that game.. lets look at elite fleet weapons shall we...
Again you keep bring up the Klingons.. your guys are so butt hurt that you seem not to be able to comprehend that its a Cloak issue not a Klingon issue. Cloak is much more effective then 5% hull.. not sure why that's so hard for you to understand. Then you bring up Romulan battle cloaks.. that just compounds the issue even more for Federation ships.
I will agree that Klingon C-Store ships are pretty darn lacking vs Federation ships.. but that's a different issue. Having one problem doesn't justify a balance issue with a different problem.
PS... as I already stated I have multiple 50's of every faction.. l2read

Cloak is certainly not a Federation issue, however. It's not a problem for Starfleet because it isn't Starfleet. There's nothing inherently non-Klingon about Cruiser commands, but when it comes to Starfleet heroes sneaking around like a Romulan, it doesn't make a lot of sense.
Battle Cloak is even more different. With my Fleet Hoh'sus, the hull difference is more like 33% if you want to compare to the Fleet Defiant, which is truly an apples-to-oranges comparison. I don't spend my time measuring against Romulan ships... but if you wanted a Starfleet battle cloak ship, it wouldn't be the Defiant as it is, just taking the Klingon Birds of Prey as an example.
And if you indeed have multiple level 50s across all factions and love to cloak, I would say that you have your solution already.

I do not know how else to put it I AM NOT ASKING FOR FEDERATION CLOAKS...what I am asking for is balance between the factions. The gear scoring for a cloak is rated way to low.. that's what I'm saying. 5% hull is not compensation enough for cloaking. Not sure how more plan I can say it.
I have said I believe that the THREE yes the grand totally of three federation ships that can cloak should have it innate just like all other cloaking ships. Or at least it changed to a device slot.. that giving up a console is to much. If 5% more hull is the factor for a cloak vs a non-cloaking ship giving up a console slot is even more of a sacrifice.
Playing all three factions I have found the federation ships lacking compared to Romulan and Klingon ships of the same tier and class. Federation ships shouldn't feel inferior they should feel special in there own right.. and they do not.. there lack luster.
I will agree the selection of ships is much great then the other factions.. especially in sci ships. That too should be addressed. It's high time Klingons got a truly dedicated sci ship. More ships does not mean more effectiveness.
If cruiser commands were federation only then I wouldn't be saying a darn thing.. that is federation.. it feels Federation. I think that Cryptic should look at adding something that Federation flavored that's just for Federation ships.. and only there ships. Right now its pretty stale..
Let's put it this way: Anytime you ask for Federation to have improved cloak on existing Fed cloak type, even making it innate, you ARE asking for cloak on Federation side.
From the PoV of KDF, we see Federation is the most unbalanced faction, since they have ships for every purpose other than cloaking, which is not much since you have the most powerful single hangar ships (Vesta series), best cruiser (Gal-X), tankier Battle cruiser (Avenger), best escort (Andronian Cruiser) to cover that up. Not to mention numerous science ships.
How about a challenge yourself? Play KDF or Romulan all the way to 50 and play a few elite STF, and then continue this discussion.
Best cruiser.. the galaxy x? ok stop reading right there.. for one its a dread.. not a cruiser.. and its not near the best... Andorian is a escort not a cruiser and its not near the best.. Ar'Kif or the Jhas get that medal...
and as I have stated before I have 2 level 50 KDF and 2 level 50 Romulan, 3 level 50 Federation.. so maybe you need to read some more and look at it objectively not from only 1 faction point of view...

Every faction should have a strength. Fed should be more about tanking and maybe science.

Please oh please tell me where in its description does cruiser appear for a Andorian Escort? Here is a hint... it doesn't. Andorian Kumari Escort, Andorian Charal Escort, Andorian Khyzon Escort... there is no cruiser even mentioned in there description.. I know I own the set. Now that that mistake is fixed for you.
Let me ask you something....
What special thing does a Federation sci ship get that sets it apart for other faction science ships?
Answer: Nothing the base ships are the same across the board. Sure there are more sci ships for the federation with consoles and such.. the base ships ability they are the same
What special thing does a Federation ship get that makes it tank better?
Answer 5% hull so pretty much one weapon cycle worth of health. Not much of a compensation for anything active power related.. like Klingon cloaks or Romulan battle cloak and singularity powers. Please do not bring in boffs.. as stated before I believe boffs are unbalanced between the factions.. but that's a different issue.
This is what I have been saying.. you apparently didn't read it or maybe skipped over it.. there is nothing special about federation ships. They have no special skills that give them any sort of flavor. Giving them a shield harding buff on a cool down with a interesting visual or a sensor lock ability giving them 5% more accuracy against a target... something that gives federation ships unique for them. I mean Star fleet ships when saying Federation.. not referring to Atrox or Andorian ships.

I did. You just don't see them as special, but they are, as in better with aux power in science. Vesta is even better in that it can be everything. And I saw you say do not bring in boff, but I will, because its boff that actually account for the ship's power, more than its base type. I use my Vesta more as an escort then the HEC, thanks to configurations and their consoles.
The problem is not so much as fed gets "crappy" ships. The problem is that the game is so DPS focus that science that cannot counter. The problem is that you want to play with gimmicks, which is perfectly understandable, instead of boardside beam array. However, if you play feds as intented - either shoot and brave through ala cruisers and escorts, or supportive and debuff in science, then Fed has better ship for their specific roles. Until the Dyson, KDF only have Gorn ship, which does not hold much of a candle when compare to Fed in science ability, and they have no cloak too, while Roms have even less science ships than KDF.
When I want to play battleship, I play with my fed char. When I want to play carrier or raider, I go to my KDF. If I want to be the stealth master, I go to my Rom-Fed or Rom-KDF. I play the best of their strength instead of wishing they are all one character on one faction.

All based on Androian cruiser Canonical name too.
