While blasting through Nimbus last night, I received several Mk V and Mk VI kits and modules.
To my dismay, I couldn't equip the Mk VI kits or modules, because both of them listed "Captain" as the required rank.
Last I heard, Mk VI was usable by Commanders/Subcommanders and Mk VII/VIII were the ones that required Captain/[Rom]Commander.
I've also seen this with random Mk X kits and modules dropped in the FE and endgame content (mostly STFs and rep grind stuff). Mk X is requiring RAUH/Subadmiral II instead of RALH/Subadmiral I.
I've also seen some Mk XII stuff (again, just kits and modules) requiring Vice Admiral/[Rom]Admiral instead of RAUH/Subadmiral II. Not sure if it's all of those or just some.
Sounds like a requirements pass needs to be made on all of the new kits/modules.
FWIW, old kits are unaffected by this.
Noted on both Fed and Rom characters; haven't played KDF enough lately to notice. This applies to both random drops and mission rewards. Sorry for misleading title.
Comments
The Mk V and Mk VI kits I got both had the same number of slots IIRC, as did the Mk XI and XII I saw, but required different ranks.
If there are some supposed "Mk VI" kits that are actually Mk VII pieces mislabeled, that might explain it, but why would those be dropping for a Commander/Subcommander?
Mk II, IV, VI, VIII, X, and XII are all affected.
That, the crappy rate of module drops, and the inability to purchase most modules on vendors, is hampering the new kit adoption rate among sub-VA characters and driving up the price of the remaining old-style kits on the Exchange.
Please fix, guys.
I can verify this and it's not just the drops, it's all kits that I have encountered, including the episode rewards. Posted about it here http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1103091
