Club 47, lets do this

ok I understand you guys dealing with working out the bugs from S9 update and you guys are busy, but im seriously thinking about club 47, and its new location in Earth spacedock, Awesome job btw and ftw, so lets make it more FTW by putting the new Club 47 on the Upper deck, overlooking Earth out the back windows, with the front of the club with huge glass windows, and Lighting effects and good music we would have a super great club 47 for our new ESD, Please do not put the new ESD on the lower floor, it would look like total crud, iv had many people say Upper floor overlooking earth is nicest place:)

Tacofang has it scheduled for some time before Season 10 if things go well. There is even a door for where it is supposed to go on that spiral ramp when you go right from the Transporter. As to what it might look like and what view it will have, then Tacofangs is the only one that might know.

The door to Club 47 is already there, halfway up the ramp in the rotunda to the right of the transporter room.

Depending on how they choose to set it up, it could probably have whatever view they please. There's nothing else there to get in the way.

I think it should be moved to the 'open starbase project' ghetto that they keep posting about.

The new ESD is bad enough as it is without being made worse with a "dance club".

Haters gonna hate. The new ESD is awesome.

Oh, you mean like the old ESD? Like that dull gray starbase we know and love?

Soulless? Have you actually walked around ESD to gander at the minutiae? The signs, the symbols, etc?

The new ESD is far from soulless, it's pretty much a character in it's own way. It's alive in a way the old ESD wasn't; it's simple, straightforward, displays Federation arrogance (though not meant in a 100% bad way) and it's fairly stylish for what it is.

i expect to see, a small corridor either side flanked by small open spaces and some sitting places, inside i expect to see white walls, 3 levels high, a big gap in the middle between the door and dance floor with elevated walkway for people to chat and relax with a small lounge place to sit on the right and a bar on the left, and then ramps going up into a dance room with a small bar on one side and a dancers pad on the other that changes direction, going upwards or downwards. expect heavy bass music, club like, energetic. inside i hope to see the likes of aria t'... anyways.

Well, nothing is finalized yet, and I haven't started working on the Club at this point, so I'm open to suggestions.

The initial/current intent is to have it placed behind the door that is currently in the spiral ramp room, to the right of the transporter. There is a door halfway up the ramp, inset into the wall a bit. That's the intended Club entrance. I'd expect it to get jazzed up a bit when the club goes in.

My plan, and very rough whitebox, is to have the club split into two sections. A more relaxed, loungey club where you feel like you can actually talk to someone, and a proper dance floor, where the dancing happens. The bar would be in the middle, separating the two, facing both ways to serve both sides.

The lounge side would overlook Earth, and the dance side would overlook the docking bay. Though there is more room there than we probably want to fill up with club, so one or the other side would likely be looking over other stuff between it and the window.

The plan is also to move the door to the Captain's Table to within the club somewhere, and remove the nebula outside.

That's really, about all that's planned at the moment. So, feel free to make suggestions.
*NOTE* - This is a case where a dev is LISTENING to your suggestions. This is not a guarantee of action. I am not promising that any suggestion will be included/incorporated into the final product.

When you say "put it on the upper level" . . . where? We don't want to just take over the Mezzanine with it. That would kind of ruin the view, from above and below. I guess it could be at one end of the Mezzanine or the other, but that seems like a long way to go to get to the club.

The general idea is good, although I have to concur: The entrance might get pretty busy, so the door within the spiral-rondel thingy should be enlarged OR you make Club 47 a two-level area (one level for lounge, one level disco) and have two doors to it: The one on the mid-level of the rondel, and a second one on the ground level.

I also like the idea of overlooking something else between the Club windows and the actual windows to the inner spacedock. How about an Arboretum? Might also be easier to build than most alternatives and also takes up less CPU power than texture- and light-effect-rich technical areas etc. (no matter what's going to go there, I also hear people crying and complaining as to why that area is not accesible -.-)

Also be sure to include this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gLJvAV2Z6nk/UCHwwkE3R4I/AAAAAAAAER4/KU5ec9Uq1ss/s1600/AIP-2012-08-07-21h50m54s50.jpg
(I know it's actually a bar ON Earth, not the spacedock, but it's a classic :) Not necessarily as an interactible game, but just as an animated decoration)

I'm glad that this ugly Aenigma Nebula thing is finally disappearing. Please make sure to also hook up the Captain's Table to one of the unused doors within the Blood Wine Bar in the First City, so the KDF can get rid of that nebula, too...

One final thing: Posted this before... A pass on Earth's texture would be awesome. It's been the same, unrealistic, blocky texture since game launch. There are so many much better alternatives, even within the STO-texture-size-limitations. (http://eoimages.gsfc.nasa.gov/images/imagerecords/74000/74418/world.topo.200408.3x5400x2700.png)

Jazz is a must for the lounge. Maybe some Andorian blues?

Actually might be cool to have different music types each day of the week. Jazz, classical, Maybe even a lounge singer that can take some requests?

    Think Vic Fontaine here...

And maybe some Klingon opera. Like the theme from "Aktuh and Melota"?
Nothing breaks the tension better than a tankard of warnog - except maybe a good brawl...

    so I'm open to suggestions.

The big one for me is a few pieces of random music.

A similar style bay window like the one on the captains table for a good view of Sol and maybe a bit of the station we are on. That bay window had a wide viewing angle.

One thing that would be nice is a lounging area in the back of the club. Not with the standard chairs and tables but a bit more loungey with sofas (not that layout). Not everyone wants to be dancing all the time. After a long journey a bit of R&R after the entertainment would be nice. Or maybe a cozy area to entertain some one from the dance floor.

Also as for the door to the captain table can have feel a bit more VIP feel too it? Like red rope across it with an Orion bouncer? Place at the back corner out of the way of traffic?

Finally the temperature on the rest of ESD was a bit chilly. No jacket cold but more sweater cold. Can you turn up the temperature a bit in the club?

I found a sign last night that explained what to do in the event of a decompression event. Depending on your biology, you have 8-30 seconds to deal with the loss of atmosphere. So, tap your combadge three times to activate the distress beacon, and then follow the lights to an EV suit.

This is why I run around in my Sentinel EV suit. Take that, explosive decompression.

I'm liking the split section/level idea. Making the door in the back of that rotunda a load entrance makes it possible to have pretty much any area layout you want that would conform normally with the interior of the new ESD so that's probably a good idea. It was nice being able to see it walking by in old ESD but it seems to make more sense from a texture load point of view to make it totally separate from ESD main area now.

I like the idea someone else had of using/creating textures from the earth club from recent movies in a new Club 47 theme...possibly since it's going to be a split area you could use the traditional textures/colors everyone remembers from old ESD club 47 for one area and a new set for the other area?

I also want to put in my vote for rotation of music in some form, not sure if player selectable would be a good idea...maybe on a purchase or tip to the DJ to set new music? But definitely at least a rotating selection of music. Perhaps most could be drawn from existing game resources so only a few would need to be some kind of new music that fits a dance/casual club theme.

Thanks for asking for input Taco....it's nice to know you guys want our opinion on things before they are planned out and such. :)

ok since your doing the club from scratch could you place maybe a relative of guinan behind the bar and inside the club a veriety of different diplomats hanging around give it that more lively feel to it rather then that NCO club feel ...it would be a great place to go to walk up to a vulcan or andorian , ferangi ,klingons ,maybe even xindi and be able to get lore about where they are from or what made them want to join the federation . maybe forr 100ec we can buy round of drinks at the bar and all npc raise there glass and say thanks something fun yet small . this could go towards diplomatic xp ....
