It's been quite the eventful year don't you think?
1. you just graduated from the academy and you're thrown into a war with the borg. You join up with a fleet and drive the borg back, earning your name.
2. You join in the Klingon war, fighting a dishonourable ambassador, destroying a planet killer in the process and single handly defeating an undine, delivering the kill shot when your fleet arrives to aid you.
3. You save a station from soul sucking ghosts... travel back in time and get insulted by mccoy while sharing some booze with scotty
4. You raid the Romulan empire, killing innocents and getting drawn into the civil war. Eventually killing Sela's right hand man.
5. You hunt down the True way, capturing a changeling.
6. You retake ds9, twice...
7. you take on over two thousand dominion warships
8. you lead a strike deep into undine space and borg space.
9. You TRIBBLE off the romulans by destroying their research technologies... again...
10. You travel to the Delta Quadrant, discover an Iconian plot
11. You defeat an Undine invasion
12. You're there at the table ending the Klingon war.
Not to mention fighting a mirror invasion, helping the romulan republic thrive and so on...

All that in less than 1 year!
Honestly I didn't like the 2010 introduction. Before that it was open to interpretation how far we got.
Some assumed real-time, which would put us into 2314 right now, I personally assumed that we covered at least 10 years within the game.
1 year is just ridiculous.
They either shouldn't have implemented dates at all or make a schedule based on the mission.
Klingon arc 2409/2310
Romulan arc 2411
Cardassian arc 2412
Breen 2414
ect ect
Replaying old mission or participating in any content related to events in the past could be handled similar to reruns.
Just because I watch Mission Farpoint after First Contact Farpoint doesnt suddenly take place in 2374.
Indeed, when you sit at that table with Tuvok, you're supposed to have spent YEARS as a warrior, fighting the Borg, the Klingon, the Romulan Empire, the Voth and the Undine. You're addressed as an admiral, at the same level as Tuvok. He does not speak to you as a subordinate or superior, but rather as an equal.
Sorry no uniformed force in their right mind is going to promote a cadet to an admiral in less than 10 years. It's insane regardless of raw talent. Sorry that JJ verse TRIBBLE of handing Kirk the Enterprise straight from the Academy, completely assinine. Why I like the prime universe better. Granted it took Kirk a while but he made captain by 30. Youngest in history but he paid his dues. And stayed a captain for atleast 10 years.
For me atleast 10 years passed from the start of the game.
2409. Stopping the borg around vega.
2409-2410. doing the early missions up to Kuvang'Mah where you meet Miral Paris
2410-2412. Klingon front dealing with B'vat up till you do the temporal mission with the Ent C.
2412-2415. Dealing with the romulan arc.
2415-2418. Cardassian arc.
2418-2420. Borg and breen arcs.
2421-??? Solanee arc.
Sorry for me it's around the year 2422. 13 years later. I could POSSIBLY see a cadet going to Vice admiral in that amount of time given the resume of the HERO(which is us).

How do you get such inflated Numbers? Based upon your rank only?
Most Event Arcs portrayed can be realistically played out in 2-3 Months at most, some even in less (the whole Breen Arc, for me it surely always was less than a month).
I agree that just one mere year might not be enough but it's definitely NOT more than 5 years at MOST unless your Captain is a friggin lazy slacker.

Really, it took a year for each season on Trek, every week something happened in less than an hour.
Soooooo if you don't take summer breaks off and winter breaks like a TV show does, you can get a lot done in a year, and all the arcs are not that long that it would take you 10 years???
WTF are you doing that it's taking so long??? we have transwarpdrive, put the peddle to the metal.
Also to STO's credit unlike The New movie Trek where they promoted Kirk straight away to command the Enterprise as well as the most advance ship in the fleet, In STO they promote you to Captain of an old ship, and eventually as you progress give you command of better class starships as well as a Rank increase.....it's the least Starfleet can do for me saving the Galaxy.
Well, while the from-cadet-to-Captain-of-the-flagship-in-1-day-part is easily the most TRIBBLE part of a movie that could not be more stupid if it tried... pitifully it IS canon.

While this is only slightly less dump, in the beginning.... now instead we switch commands with in a year at least 5 times until we ultimately (mighT) end up at one of the most advanced star feet ships instead of being there instantly. TBH somehow that makes matters worst....

Getting posted to different places within a year is not really crazy, especially during wartime.

When we get a new ship... we don't get a new ship.
We are literally at war on multiple fronts.
Those ships lost their command staff and/or have been heavily damaged before, so Starfleet places their new star officer on board as soon as those ships become space worthy and ready for launch again.
Keep in mind most of those are literally old buckets or at least refitted ships.
It's not until we reach admirality that we get to choose our command for ourselves and pick a ship of the line.
Though in some cases not even those are available and Starfleet is forced to station us on commandeered ships from the enemy to put us back in space at all!
We are the step redded step child that inherits the three times over worn shoes from our older much better loved siblings. XD

The Next Generation is not Star Trek, TOS 4 LIFE, not that fake captain Picard, Kirk is the real Captain
Down with Kirk the usurper, PIKE FOR EVER!
