you know it's going to be a vulcan. You may get a trill or a human. You would not expect a Terralite, or an andorian, both species not known for tact - one will insult you and the other would challenge you...
Actually, you might very well expect a Tellarite. They love politics and debate. Some of them DO have the tactful trait.
but the romulans send one scimitar and she says nothing?
Duh, one Scimitar is worth probably 5 Fedlings! Would you rather be backed by a 30K DPS Scimitar or 5 3K DPS Fedlings?

That is true, S'taass is unexpected. When you go into a Federation meeting, you know it's going to be a vulcan. You may get a trill or a human. You would not expect a Terralite, or an andorian, both species not known for tact - one will insult you and the other would challenge you...

You go to the Klingons, you expect an older klingon who, if you're not careful, may duel you. So you have to talk honourably, take care not to insult their honour and do not talk nicely. Basically you need to be able to hold your liquor, do well in a duel and talk tough. A gorn... you're not sure what to do...

Add to that, can a Gorn even show facial expressions? Aside from the tone of voice you really don't have any way of knowing what they are thinking, if a gorn is bored, ticked off or just TRIBBLE with you lol

With one important difference, a Vulcan wouldn't use that to unnerve you or just mess with you. A six foot three one hundred and thirty pound Vulcan is sitting across from you, or you have a seven foot nine four hundred pound Gorn sitting across from you.

Which poker face is going to make you crack sooner? Add to that, like all lizards, Gorn don't have to blink ;)

S'taass I find intresting and the more we find out about him and deal with him the more I like him. Sure he may be for Gorn back to being independant, but he knows that not viable now and pushes to increase the standing of the Gorn within the KDF. He may have his own agenda, but he dosent betray hiscurrent standing at all which is very nice.

Now as for Koren the more I have to deal with her, the more annoying she gets. Hell was hoping she would actually say something nice when do to defend Qo'nos on my KDF, but nope, I dont't even recall her acknowlding me and called the USS Voyager an outdated relic. Consindering she called an Intrepid class that and my Fed flys an Excelsior class, which is ancient compared to an Intrepid, almost makes me wonder how much insulting she would if she had dialog for using that old ship.

yeah she said that wile my KDF flys a B'rel. i was like yeash hate to hear what you have to say about my ship LOL

my fed also flys a galaxy which is about 5 years older then an intrepid

I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

I wouldn't say that. This might be true in the period we know from "The path to 2409" lore, but since the game started up until now things have changed apparently.

First, Worf is sent to be the offical Klingon representative on a launch of the Iconian gateway on Mol'Rihan. Granted, this could heavily be due to his previous experience in the area.
But then, they give him the lead in a project to design the newest, most powerfull KDF battlecruiser and they give him the honor of naming the ship class after his father - Mogh.
I think it's safe to say things changed and in time, probably even J'mpok realized that Worf's heart is with the Empire and accepted him as an asset even though he is a gin'tak of a Great House that declared vengeance against the House of J'mpok.

Yeah the almighty scimitar the most fragile capital ship in the game

As for Stass, it is odd that the Personalities aboard the Borta'q were so varied.

The Orion Doctor, pointed out to my Orion KDF officer that just because he put on the uniform that he was not going to spew on about Honor and adopt a ridiculous growl.

And the Gorn, science officer was very intellectual and calm. And Best of all what got me to make a KDF Klingon character was the Koren's rather SANE first officer from the Klingon commoner class.

It is weird having every KDF officer act like insane nobility except Worf, Alexander, and D'
vak, and of course the Federation Klingons.

It didn't suck his soul, the whole getting old thing was in his mind, which was caused by the Lethean telepathic attack.

Essentially it was his mind manifesting the damage that the attack had done to him in a way Bashir (and the audience) could understand and relate to. (and it tied into the plot somewhat of him talking to Garak about feeling old at 30)

Its also the same telepathic attack that revealed the infiltration of the house of Konjah by the Undine when it forced it to assume its true form.

But how is Rapture really all that different from mind drain of the Remans or whatever Batazoids get. Mind meld is basically touch telepathy so I understand Vulcan's not being psychic infiltrator detectors.

Rapture is an STO thing, the attack against Bashir and Kor had to touch them both times, and with Kor had to get him drunk to get close enough to do it.

Letheans must be telepathic at range to some degree like betazoids though as the ones that exposed the Undine in the house on Konjah, sensing him while walking down a street. (path to 2409)

yep. definitely no refit done there. still had one of those nanite torps in its magazine. that wouldnt have been there had the systems been updated.

Say what? The Gorn and the Orions are the oldest of the interstellar civilizations in the Alpha quadrant (Followed by the bajorans and vulcans) And both have been acknowledged as civilized though alien. Well the Gorn are, the Orion's civilization is so similar to Terran that they love 20th/21st century popular culture.

some Fed players who only play the game my state that, but not long time multimedia trek fans.

Funny thing too at one time if you were a KDF player there was a high chance you were a good player and not one of the typical fed rainbow player throwing discoballs everywhere.

Although I like S'taass :) Although with the war in theory being over with when it comes to marauding/doffing and the nausicaan/gorn/orion mix in the KDF where does that leave them?

I seem to recall some flavor dialogue in an earlier 8472 mission that implied that the players weapons were already modified like that for fighting 8472.

The Orions are supposed to be close to Earth, relatively speaking... so it is very possible they're getting our broadcasts from the 20th/21st century by the 24th/25th.

Although, Ive always wondered why the Gorn dont get a special bonus/advantage agaisnt the Voth. They're BOTH races of friggin dinosaurs.

I didn't expect so many postings when I started this topic :D Some good points have been made, although ultimately I personally would rather see a Kllingon ambassador and consider S'taass behaviour not helpful. That has nothing to do with "specism", though, I just don't like the "Red Confederation" faction theme and think the "Klingon" factions should reflect a loose alliance or client relationship much more as opposed to a happy family where even Orions suddenly quote Khaless. I like Gorn in general, although the STO Gorn look nothing like Gorn. They are modeled after the hideous american Godzilla rather than the Gorn we saw in Star Trek. But that's another debate :D

That's the old Gorn we had in STO, they were genuine. But I guess the people in charge in their "infinite wisdom" wanted Godzilla because it's "kewl'. I have nothing against the new Gorn look, I'm just still pissed that they lied about being able to make a chocie of how you want your Gorn to look - the old way or the new way, which never happened, the old Gorn were just taken away.

    I don't like S'Taass either.
Hes an opportunist, no backbone, pretends to be a Klingon while he really isn't... Constantly just ******** around and playing the tough guy while there is no thought put to anything he says.

And in the recent FE... well after 4 years hearing him nothing say but how strong he is, how the Klingon empire doesnt need the federation, how they are worthless ect ect ect.... suddenly he says "We always respected the federation SO MUCH since the days of kirk".

Hes an unsympathetic character. But, unlike ppl like Shon... he is kind of realistic in his inconsistence. After all people like he exist. Far to many of them TBH. While Shon is just a poorly written gimmick. So lets keep S'Taass around as the disturbance he is. Kill Shon instead.

Yeah, although you can sometimes still spot the original Gorn in the faceless randomly generated NPC crowd if I'm not mistaken :D It's a shame, really.
