Can anyone tell me if you buy extra character slots using Zen, do they get the same progression as the free slots you initially get e.g. do they get the free ship upgrades every 10 lvls and the DOFF packs as the character advances.
Reason for asking is, I got 2 new slots to start a Rom Chgaracter. Have played it through from tutorial to lvl 21 (to make sure it didn't happen either level) but have received no ship upgrades and only 3 DOFFS so far.
Is this normal, does everything have to be bought on extra slots?
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Deffo didn't miss anything, well not intentionally anyways. Possible that the character is glitched somehow? Anyways will see if anything clicks in after the maint. If not, wipe it and start again before it gets anymore advanced.
It is VERY possible to get to level 25 or so without hitting the first promotion/ship mission (which is the "choose your faction" mission).
Have you reached the point in the story to choose to be KDF or FED? If not, keep going. This is the unfortunate side effect of the ultra high XP event.
If you HAVE done this, you should have to return to the flotilla, talk to the guy at the desk, choose a faction, then you can go to shipyard for a new ride. From there I am not sure.... you may need to talk to the guy on new rom for the next promo which unfortunately may mean waiting to do THOSE missions as well to gain access to it.
I've seen several threads from folks not understanding why they aren't getting new ships for hitting lvl 10, 20 and so on
Welcome to Double XP.
I don't remember all the fun details, and I'm too tired to look, but essentially new ships are tied to missions, not level. So while you might be lvl 21, if you haven't progressed far enough in the mission chain to get the mission that rewards a new ship, you get no new ship.
I think it's the same with DOff's and BOff's too, but not 100% certain there
Double XP makes leveling brand new characters a pain, since you're usually still in your starter ship well into your teens and sometimes into your 20's. Cryptic KNOWS this and keeps doing nothing to fix it. This isn't the first double XP event where people have complained. It's not even the second.
Anyway, just keep plugging along, you'll get your lvl 10 ship soon enough. Hopefully, before you hit lvl 30 you'll get your lvl 20 ship.
Double XP seems more geared to lvl 50's than lowbies, which makes no sense to me. Then again I don't get the craze of "reality TV" either. Want reality? Turn off the TV and go outside! :P
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
I HATE experience events. Their only purpose is to gain extra experience for rep projects , fleet or watever. But using it to level a character is.. well.. .non sense.
I had so many problems leveling my toons with the expertise event... not only that. Levelling a character to 50 in 1 day??? seriously cryptic?? lol.
And some people wonders why the game is becoming so repetitive and grind based. lol.
Don't worry, it's not just your toon. It's caused by what I'd consider an epic fail on the developers' side and happens to almost every toon, as far as I can tell (from conversations with other new players). You don't get the ship at lvl 10, like you could think (as it says so in-game and is known for fed toons), but it is instead connected to a certain mission. 'Bigger picture' for Romulans, as far as I know. And 'Test the mettle' for Klingons, same problem there.
It is extremely annoying especially on xp weeks like the current one and a source of frustration for many new players, as far as I can tell.
And it's a known issue, there was even an official statement about it in another thread.
It's just, they don't do anything about it. E.g. simply putting a disclaimer in said mission's description (like they did for the Solanae missions, for example), which would be an elegant and easy solution to the problem. But they don't.
So, imo, it's not like some players claim over and over in the forums: They are nowhere close to luring new players into playing and paying for the game, they are actually scaring them away right from the beginning with stupid hickups like this one.
Crazy. But true...

Extra char slots behave the same way as regular slots.
