I think that there should be two methods to get to Captain's Table, door on each social hub and Transwarp to Captain's Table. The space map for the Captain's Table is just too cool and it would be a shame to lose it.

    Very true.

My favourite place to take screenshots of my ships too.....

IMO, moving the Captain's Table door to the club accomplishes two things.

    1) Matches up better to Canon, which states that the entrance is just a normal door.
    2) Removes the eyesore nebula from the system map.

If you're in sector space, would it now be more clicks to get to the Captain's Table? Yes.
If you're already on ESD doing your thing, is it now fewer clicks to get to the Captain's Table? Yes.

Hooray! This is gunna b gud.

Yes, ideally, it would be a door on your ships, but that is not a task I can accomplish on my own, let alone with the relative ease of hooking up a single door in ESD. Every ship interior is different, and many are just Bridges. It would take a lot of work to hook up all of those maps with separate doors to the CT.

I really wish that you guys would make a bunch of Starship interiors, and theme a whole season around it. It could be done, and would make episodic content so much easier for you.

I think a far more reasonable task would be to add Captain's Table doors to most/all major social hubs. Qo'noS, The Flotilla, Risa, DS9, etc. Each could have their own door to the CT. However, I think it would be a hard sell to the design team to allow the CT to be a quick travel hub between those locations. More realistically, the door to leave would just take you back from where you entered.

That would be nice. I'm okay with allowing it to be a quick travel hub too, I mean if you've paid $200-300 for an LTS then you kind of deserve it. :P But in the name of reasonableness I would be okay with the alternative.

    :):) YES!!! :):)

May I suggest a couple of Starfleet security personnel standing guard outside of those doors? (And have the devs rotate those characters so there are different ones standing guard outside of the doorway every few hours.)

One of the characters could say:

"Welcome (rank) to the Captain's Table. Access granted."
    OR
"I'm sorry, (rank), but you need ____ to access the Captain's Table. Please visit ___ for details."

Nah man, the Captain's Table door is supposed to be entirely inconspicuous. Can't have guards.

That ought to be an interesting user experience for newbies and free2play players when toons go to the door... then disappear.

I think the Captain's Table should just be added to the ship's Transwarp list so that you can go there from anywhere.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

It's like Club 33. If you're important enough to know about it, you'll find it. :D

I was thinking that the ESD revamp (awesome work there BTW!) would be the perfect opportunity to work in a more canon-like 'entrance' to the Captain's Table (for those who have access to it) - like perhaps a spare door in the new Officer's Club - 'Club 47'.

And while I think adding the Captain's Table to the starship Transwarp list (again, for those who have access to it) would be the most beneficial way to access the CT, a door on the new interior of ESD sure would help too - and be right in line with the books. :)

(Plus we could get rid of the 'gas bag' space entrance floating over Earth that way too ;))

    Awesome idea.

Been waiting on a revamp or easy travel option to it for years now. Still nothing.

I would love this because then we could still use the ESD travel option they wouldn't have to do a major overhaul of coding for this to happen.

not as useful to the klinks or Roms, but it would be pretty cool to enter from the ESD and exit in K7 or DS9

In that case, maybe you should add a restroom to the club, then use one of the stalls for the entrance to the Captain's Table?

Read his post again, he doesn't think they'll allow him to make it a quick travel HUB like that.

wait, you have to go through four maps to get to the club? Strange, because on Tribble (where the updated ESD is), you just walk along the walkway to the right of the transporter, and bam, there you are at the area where the club's supposedly is to be.

Holodeck : SOL - Aenigma Nebula - Captains Table (sorry 3 right now)
Tribble : SOL- ESD - Deck47 - (Club 47) - (Aenigma Neb.) - Captains Table (4-6 depends on how they do it)

Do you have any metrics on how often it is used? I can honestly say that I have been there twice in my entire lifetime subscription, there is simply no reason to go there. If it was a quick travel hub then at least it would have some value.

    Huh???

After the CT door gets moved to Club 47, the maps would be like this:

SOL - ESD (walk up the ramp to the club, which will most likely be on the same map, just like it is currently on Holodeck) - Captain's Table. Why would you need to go from Club 47 to the Aenigma Nebula, if the door is moved from the nebula to Club 47????

YES! Thank you! Now can we have something similar on Qo'noS? For those who complain there's nothing to do there... yes, actually almost everything you access at ESD is accessible there without the crowds...

In reality there should be one on every permanent non-combat map.

Okay. What about the answer to the most important question asked multiple times in this thread? Why would anyone want to go there? From my understanding, there is no reason a non-lifer would want to subscribe to have access to it and there is no reason for lifers to want to go there even though they can.

Yeah Club 47 might be on the same map as ESD, but I assume you'll have to take the Turbolift to Deck 47 ... so it's still lot's of running ... even if it's the same map (tech-wise)

So for me, it's still : SOL - ESD - Deck47 - Captains Table (best case scenario)

PS : Transwarp to Aenigma Nebula ftw (at least as an additional option, in the future)

Well some might still go there, for Bank Access, Exchange etc (one more Loading-Screen to avoid ESD Zone Chat :P)... but I really see no reason to go there, if you have to run through ESD, already passing by Bank Access, Exchange and several other Amenities ... why not just stop there, and get it done ...

Other than "It's a pretty map", there is no reason any more ...

The entirety of the new ESD ground map is already on Deck 47. There won't be a turbolift to the Club, just a doorway.
