3 Simple changes to finally fix escorts

1. Add engine power consumption to dual cannons and dual heavy cannons - just like Quad Cannons. -5 for Dual Cannons and -6 for Dual heavies sounds perfect. What it gives to balance? Escorts will be forced to invest to engine power, or giant salvo of 3 Dual Heavies will partially immobilize them (reducing defense), Escort pilot will be forced to choose optimal angle of attack, Escorts will be more focused on hit-and-run tactics.

2. Add All Damage Multiplier to all escorts: x0.95 To regular Escorts and x0.9 to Escort Carriers. It will finally give Escorts some kind of drawback for their superior mobility and increased survivability (due to bonus defense). Escorts will have superior damage-dealing capabilities anyway, so this change is making escorts only little closer to other ships.

3. Make Attack Patterns effectiveness dependable on AUX power. ATM Escort can max Weapons, put rest to Shields (with EPtS escort have 100-125 shields...) and still have enough engine power to get max defense. Why this is happening? Because NOTHING escort need to attack, is critically related to AUX power. Making attack patterns dependable on AUX will make piloting dumb-escort little more challenging and will put more variety into game. Let say actual Attack patterns effectiveness will be the same at AUX 75 power level. Players who invest into AUX over 75 will benefit this change, while players who ignore Aux will be penalized just like Cruiser and Sci pilots in similar situation.

These three changes combined should finally fix escort balance problems.

    Have you been buried under a rock for the last year? Escorts Online hasn't been a thing for nearly a year. We're in Romulans Online now. Nobody cares about Escorts anymore. Get with the program.

    Hate to break it to ya but my fed escort runs 125/125/125/135 in combat

    seriously it does with every buff running and while firing. (i can make this last for about 20 seconds out of every minute, with resting power levels that still leave all power levels over 75)

    While we are at it we should fix the Klingon bops.... May be remove some hull and a weapon slot or 2.

    Also the scimitar desperately needs a buff...

    Wonder why everyone is so concerned with Escorts and Romulans...

    The real problem is Science ships... Those things are epicly overpowered.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
    Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    Guys guys guys guys. You really just don't see the real issue right here do you?

    All these ships are pretty common to achieve, hence why they are so weak. More uncommon ships get a little stronger. But the king of damage, tanking, supporting, area control, debufing and looking epic is on a limited stock that will never be refilled again.

    I present you, the Tuffli Freighter. And I have one. If any ship here need a desperate nerfing, it is that ship. Massive hull for its level, full universal boff seating, great tanking capabilities. It sacrifices on turn rate, but nobody here need that anyway.

    A2B Scimitars and Galors are now science ships ? Good to know XD !

    But yes, the game have been A2B battlecruisers online for some time.
    Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

    You are right, but that thing is so utterly op, I wouldn't know how to fix it. We can only hope it will never be given out again.

    Escorts are already easy to kill. I am saying this from experience as a pilot of all three classes. If they put power from engines to the shields, then they will already be slow, thereby lowering their defense. Now you are asking to Nerf them even more.

    Cruisers can tank good. Does that mean that you want to reduce their turn rates when they fire weapons? That will be just as unfair.

    All of the ships have their weaknesses. Escorts are easy to rip through their hull. Cruisers have slow turn rates. Science ships mostly use their Aux power, so they will need to sacrifice their weapons, shields, or engines.

    If you try to increase the weakness of one, then you will need to do it with others. Even the Scimitar have the worse bleed through. With the same BOFF skills, and same build on a cruiser, the Scimitar will go down faster. Even it has it's weakness.

    As is, they are as equal as they can be. Some may have a strength that you may see as unfair, but the ones that use them may see a weakness that is unfair, as you may have seen with whichever ship you use.

    *blasts a GW3 at a Voth Battlecrusier........and sucks in a ton of frigates...and a crusier* hmm yeah totally OP XD

    and yes i DID just do that above hit not 4 hours ago lol...and that was in my atrox that was slotted with shield regen consoles and not grav consoles

    You all beat me to it, but I retired my escorts months ago...

    I pull them out for fun once in a while, but I don't even PvP in mine anymore.

    Then Raptors and Destroyers would easily trump Escorts. Bad idea.

    No, Escorts need an ADDITION instead of a subtraction. Especially something to distinguish themselves mechanically so people will stop using "escort" synonymously with "tactical ship".

    I think "Escorts" need something to allow them to "Escort" better.

    It is a shame that Sensor Analysis just became a toggle, because the first thing that comes to mind is allowing an escort to select a friendly target, toggle an effect on them, and get a bonus... But... Sci just got that... :mad:

    With the obvious kinda out of the question... we need to have a more firm concept of what an Escort is. As Orangitis says, currently Escort just means Raider with no flexibility, cloak, or flanking bonus. Oh, and a turret! :rolleyes:

    Escorts don't need nerfs any more. If anything, they're one of the games greatest assets because they take a lot of skill to play effectively with their limited arcs amidst the insanity of gameplay. I flew them for a long time until I just found them too annoying to play at their best.

    "Got all those cooldowns rolling and that cannon scatter volley ready to seriously rip some neatly clustered enemies apart? Good! Guess I'll blow those ships outwards in all directions DERP!"

    "Blew up that one ship in a swarm with your rapid fire cannons? Great! Now we're going to auto target some ship behind or to the side of you with just your turrets and burn through your abilities charges... never mind that huge swarm of ships still in the 45 arc of your duals."

    Just... really aggravating. And having to reach out and click on the next ship I want to gun down with the mouse pointer once the first one goes down. (or a LOT of tab targeting). I totally could put up with all of that and still do very well with my Escorts. I just no longer feel the incentive to. It's better just to run a cruiser with a FAW build and pierce through the bullcrap and shenanigans. Players can't aggravate me with their excessive badness now if they tried.

    I did not say that. "Escort" in-game means something totally different than what players use colloquially.

    I believe that canonically, the only reason that Starfleet uses the word "escort" to describe most of their tactical ships is because they wanted to use a more "peaceful" word that "warship". As I understand it, at least.

    Which granted is strange if you look at the Hirogen Escort...

    No worries... The Vesta is actually not threatening... So sure... we can leave that eye-hurting thing alone, along with the other uglies.

    Make sure they clean their teeth, use mouthwash and go easy on the axe.

    A good haircut goes a long way and shoes......shoes, not sneakers.

    And make sure they watch Midnight Cowboy first so they don't get disappointed.
