Give the OP a break guys, these threads are a little selfish by nature (I should know, I've made plenty of them myself). They're expressions of frustration as much as anything else. Me, I've been playing on and off since closed beta; and despite the huge number of ships that have been introduced over the years, I still don't have one that really suits me. I daresay the OP feels the same.
Think about it: a 500 or 1000 zen package that contains extra parts for the ship tailor for each design.
You could have different packages "inspired" but not EXACTLY like the different eras. One package with TMP inspired design, another with excelsior or ambassador inspired.
Cryptic makes money with minimal effort (a lot of the shapes are in the game, they just need to be rweaked and re-hardpointed), and we get more opportunity to have the ship designs we want.

Really, even after all this time and all the ships we have available?
Really, even after all this time and all the ships we have available?
What sort of ship do you think would suit you?
My problem with ships is kinda the same problem I have with ranks. I've never been comfortable with the idea of playing an Admiral, or flying the biggest/most advanced/most powerful ships. I like old ships, but anything that used to be an Enterprise has too much glamour for my tastes.
I've always felt that people who ask for T5 Mirandas and stuff were making unreasonable demands; but the truth is, if there was a T5 Centaur, I'd probably fly it.
I tried the Ambassador, and I really liked it (both its appearance and capabilities), but it is an ex-Enterprise, and just felt too big and grand. I'm flying the Mirror Cheyenne now, which is pretty similar, but I hate Galaxy era aesthetics; and I don't like how the other options for it are so... asymmetrical (that's actually been a pet peeve of mine since launch). I know that the Constellation may be coming; but that is one of the few older designs that I never liked, so that doesn't help.
A heavy cruiser skin based on the Excelsior or Ambassador, that I could use on the Mirror Cheyenne, would suit me down to the ground; but I doubt that'd ever happen.
I've always loved the Miranda and if they made a T5 version I'd definitely fly it. I agree the ambassador is a beautiful ship and I think one of the best-built models in the game, but currently I don't fly one. I also fly a Cheyenne, the retrofit version. More "Lost Era" ships - from the time between TOS and TNG - would really be cool.
Trying to think of what else might be good, but not as grand as any of the ex-Enterprises. I take it you like cruisers. Back in the day there were a lot of great ships made by players for Bridge Commander of Starfleet Command, but it's unlikely we'll see those. There were some early TNG "kitbash" ships, made from various parts of other ships, that I know people have requested. Maybe we'll get some of those.
Personally I'm always looking forward to whatever they release next. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't, sometimes I like it but don't buy one cause it doesn't fit what I want my characters to fly. The ship always has to fit the character.

Back when it actually was the C-store, there were such things. apparently they weren't popular enough and were discontinued because of it... like bridge packs. However unlike Bridge packs, the ship skins got repurposed for fleet use and removed from the store. Of course, back then the "Patrol Escort" was called the "Fleet Escort", which got changed when they added fleet ships to prevent confusion.
My interpretation of the whole thing is that you want them to make sleek, simple designs and that's it. If I misinterpreted you, I'm happily willing to admit it.
Also, how exactly do you know what the majority of players like? What evidence is there? Sales figures, polling data?
<Takes off innocence disguise>
Ok yea, I'll admit you got me there. I do like simple designs etc. Canon was essentially that, so that's why I'm asking for a continuation of canon like designs being created for the 25th century. so I suppose I'm no better than those asking for Maelstrome skins.
But then this is Star Trek... Why not continue on where it was left rather than remodel it?
And, yes. Over the years, seeing player made polls, requests etc; majority have been complaining about Cryptic's Fed ships looking like TRIBBLE.
Think about it: a 500 or 1000 zen package that contains extra parts for the ship tailor for each design.
^Yes, this would be great. They would have to be careful how they made em to ensure success though. With the tempest being released, I think they have the artistic skill to do this.

Got it in one man. Although I'm more frustrated about how Cryptic is trying to recreate prime universe Trek in their own image. Fed ships express this fact perfectly. What I would like them to do is bring in a more canon feeling. And yes this is a selfish thread, I'll admit. But I daresay I'm not the only one thinking these thoughts.

Well, about that, let's take another look at those shall we?
From the list on Memory alpha, I'm going to skip entries with an unknown appearance(and things from nu-Trek), and categorize the others based on how much I think they fit your ideal of perfection. This is based on the many comments you've made in this thread as to which ships you like or dislike.
not at all:
Aeon, Antares(DS9), Antares(TOS), Apollo(possibly a Vulcan design), Curry, Dauntless, Defiant, Erewon, Holoship(possibly the same class as Erewon), Huron, mission scoutship, Norway, Oberth, Peregrine, Prometheus, Steamrunner, Sydney, Tug, Wells, Winston, Yeager,
And I like those too. The ships I'm flying right now are a Nova, a Cheyenne and a Galaxy. But why should it be limited to only ships like that? Why not have variety so everyone is happy? Star Trek is about imagination right, among many other things, I say let the devs use theirs.

I like that idea.
As long as these (new) designs are just INSPIRED by other eras i think this could work.
When i was playing ST:Legacy i loved the Enterprise era ships.
They had more simple and more sturdy looking shapes, i really liked that style.

I don't mind the look of the Avenger i guess, i fly her myself.. however some customization would be nice, a skin or 2 or at least some part changes.. popular to contrary belief, she's a very popular ship so it would be nice to see something released for her..
You know I remember when this game was still in the planning stages and the first pics came out, I finally found a picture of a Fed ship Idea that was toyed with apparently during its I guess Alpha or beta, and I was sad to see the Costume parts weren't added to any of the ships we have. http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/425stoscrn642.jpg
This being a link to what I mean, I was thinking we'd see that type of hull design, it was sad when they didn't put that ship in I liked the Saucer section almost being an Arrowhead and yet Hollow

I would absolutely love that.

a lot:
Ambassador, Centaur, Constitution, Daedalus, Enterprise-J, Excelsior, Galaxy, Intrepid, Nebula, New Orleans, Sovereign, Springfield
Hmm... soo... my guess is that you only like something like 10-20% of the canon designs...
