Isn't the whole point of these changes that we've been asking for to encourage funner more balanced matches and to promote growth in PvP?

Yes, but the fact that you can team and play with a friend does not change the fact that they are "encourage funner more balanced matches and to promote growth in PvP".

haha yep, or maybe we will just run 2 man teams of my build, and keep the single rider queues full of glorious cheese

That's an interesting take... I plan to target every decloaking bop I see. They tend to pop before a second round of cannon fire leaves my ship. :)
unless the bop buff turns out to be better than expected, i wouldnt expect many in the queue. about the only thing i expect to see uncloaking are romulans.
Your used to playing against the ones that are currently entering the FvK que... those are mostly farmers I hate to break it to you. The farmers love FvK right now. Most half decent players that pug stay out of FvK mainly because 9 out of 10 times if you get a game to pop you are the only fed playing on the team... the rest are really just rushing in as fast as they can to blow up and get there reward.
oh i can tell the difference! i know when somebody is actually trying. granted, i havent bothered with the queues much since LoR apart from the occasional fleet-made c&h. perhaps it really is that bad now.
I had to many of those matches on my klinks. One of the biggest reasons I barely play my klink toons anymore. Cryptic did a real number on klinks they gave them to many reasons for Fed players to not que against them. First it was stupid pets, then terribly balanced cstore consoles, then unbalanced Fleet weapon procs. To many reasons for people to not play them.... it has lead all the Vs Klingon stuff in the game being a Farm zone.

This que change has me excited to start playing my Klinks more again. Now with a mixed que there won't be the issue of facing multiple farmers in everything you do anymore. Klink challenge should go up a nice amount which will make them fun again.
revisionist? feds are the ones with the spammy annoying pets. feds have nearly every single kdf console available to them, in addition to the romulan consoles, etc. feds have a great proc too! having systems go offline while under focus fire aint fun.
the real reason feds begged for FvF? they didnt like dealing with cloak.

in any case i know full well i am painting a big target over myself, but its only feds, right? thats how worried i am.

and on a less abrasive note, i do think that pairs being able to queue together is going to be more good than bad. greenhorns that end up on a team with a pair have an increased chance to not only see, but experience cross healing, perhaps for the first time. somebody will heal them or drop them a team! they will see some kind of coordination, from calling targets for focus to a dbl-team alpha. it may even be their first time to ever be on the same team as the opposite faction. if this is happening on both teams how can that be bad?

Siphen pets where the origonal joke pets. :)
    - They fixed them... and then released
Leech console which was Klingon only for over a year as I remember. Then they gave that to feds and...
    - Released fleet Disruptors which are still a pretty big joke... guess we will be seeing those in the ques now.

I still consider myself a Klingon player even though I pretty much only PvP with my feds for a long time now. I am happy I can play them now. I am simply saying the feds that stopped quing for FvK have always had a reason or two to not que depending about when we are talking about. Cryptics fault 100%.

Not to mention that if you see someone new in the que that asks for help... you can que up with them and run a few with them to help them out with some pointers ect.

Unfortunantely that is an aspect that somewhat died with the forced auto-teaming. In the old days, when one had to manually assemble the team at the beginning of the match, players would often stick together for a few more rounds if the team had performed well.

Did I mention that I miss the old days?

The only promise of abuse I've seen with regards to this is a couple fleet members I ran into the other night promised that "If we end up on opposite teams, we'll just cloak and afk the entire match"- that's the biggest concern I have, honestly.

It's not the kdf fault it's just that bad fed players enter the fed side of the queue ;)
I hope that the devs will implement a system someday that will allow some difference in picking a team with a diverse career choice. Its not good to have 5 tac on a team, or all eng lol. Premade use 3 sci 2 tac mostly that needs to change. By putting a limit or something :D

Hmmm.didn't think of that sorta shenanigans, this could happen regardless of 2 man or not.
I think they need to abandon the whole idea but keep the kdf merge until they have matchmaking. I have a feeling the 5 man Q's will be empty.

I have that feeling too, but lets see. I've often come against 2 or more different premades during my normal pvp time. Let's see if those same premades are up to fighting other premades or if they just like pugstomping. Only season 9 will tell :)

EDIT: also, the "premade" queue isn't really the premade queue. It's the old queue we've always had, and I plan on queuing for it just the same as before.

Thank goodness in the Star Citizen Universe we are members of The Inquisition!
No evul Klinguns or poor Feds out there, only The inquisition brothers!
By the way, Stol PvPers...join "The Inquisition", the most feared SC Organization...join us, and you'll never fly alone!

    i cannot wait until SC!
i suppose sc is the major reason i have stopped caring about sto pvp and all its ancillaries. im just killing time waiting for the dogfighting module to drop.

Yeah, but that's not really a PROBLEM. If two groups insist on being together and won't fight without being on the same side, so they warp or AFK, the balance isn't disturbed by it: Each side will be down by the same number of guys. So it won't be 5v5, but so what? It was too crowded that way anyway. 4v4 is fine, too.

Two guys from a pvp fleet working together really is all it takes to ruin a pug. I'm against allowing pairs as well.

What does Kerrat have to do with the queues or what I said? A situation like 12 on 1 is not what would happen in a queue that didn't allow pairs or groups to enter it. If a ton of people quit you could get the same odds but why would that happen with any regularity when groups or pairs weren't allowed to roll everyone?

Regardless of the queue rules two people could enter this queue and have a 50/50 chance of being on the same team. Why are pairs of people such special snowflakes that they should be allowed in both team and pug queues? If you're worried about a pug queue being so popular that team queues would suffer for it I have a hard time feeling bad when the majority in such a situation had become so tired of premade domination.

You're fighting a losing battle. I tried to do the same it went nowhere. People won't really address the issue, you just get accused of not wanting to teamwork, just fly around kirking it. Or that it's an mmo, people play with friends etc... You see a disconnect? I do too.

There are many reasons why two friends or fleetmates may team together, training, testing, practice. So now two people constitute a premade. Soon I expect people to cry for an unaffiliated queue so only folks not in a fleet can queue.
