It seems like these guys are trying to get their last days of good ol' fashioned pug stomping in before season 9 hits. I thought to myself "well once it hits we can at least have some fun again flying solo". But no, I was assured by a premade last night that "we'll just all pair up and still ruin your day".
So my thought is under the new system that's exactly what's these guys will do. The fleets that love to spam the bs and stomp till the cows come home will just all hop on teamspeak, pair up as many as they can and hit the Q hoping they'll end up together. And with such a small amount of people playing they probably will.
So my message to AdjudicatorHawk or any Dev that will listen is to keep the PUG Q just that. PUG only. No pairing up please. The people that want to fly with a friend, or two, or four can do so in the normal Q that allows full teaming.

April Fools Right.
Do premades scare you so much that you are worried that 2 pairs may actually make it in to your match opposite of you?
So maybe they should only allow pairs in PvE queues since premades from DPS fleets make STFs so unfun.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
Have you even given consideration to the fact that their "Buddies" might be on the opposite side of the fence? Or that you might actually get paired up with a good team and learn somehting? I am yets to see a new player out of the box understand and implement veteran combat tactics. We have ALL suffered bloody beatings... you either learn from it and move on or you avoid PvPing. Here is a suggestion just because you are level 50 does not mean that you are great. Same thing goes with the lockbox ship just because you got one does not mean you got a I WIN button.
It takes consoles, doffs, boffs, specialized weaponry, and knowing how to pilot your ship just to take the battlefield. Time is what determines who gets better.... yeah I got mine handed to me until I made friends with top notch pilots who respected me for not whining or quitting just because I wasn't winning.
Experience will make you better, learning is a hard process.... but the taste of victory is worth it.

To piggy back. THe worst enemy in learning is yourself. When I broke into PvP I was an RSP chaining cruiser back in season 1.X. It is human nature not to deviate from your comfort zone. But once you get the "courage" to deviate and experiment it can be a rewarding experience and at the very least educational. Remember this once they break up the queues you may have build that will beat others of your skill level but you will find yourself against players that have been pvping for the last 4 years and they will roll you, most likely. Take the lumps ask the questions most of PvP guys will give pointers and advice if asked after a match.

With the way queues work they most likely won't be. I had a similar discussion with another player who intends to bring his premade into the pug queues, with him intending to queue two teams of two at exactly the same time, increasing their chances of being on the same team.
Seriously, what is it with these people, are they afraid of an even fight against another premade?
I am yets to see a new player out of the box understand and implement veteran combat tactics.
With exception of the best Premades, most of them tend not to use anything resembling tactics. Most of them are totally flumoxed when they run into another premade, because most of them were only interested in pug smashing.
That is unless you consider running 2 healers, 2 sci's and 1 escort a tactic, which is frankly a useless tactic for a pug.
Scimitar premades simply spam mass-FAW, no tactics at all
Experience will make you better, learning is a hard process.... but the taste of victory is worth it.
And against a premade that's nigh impossible unless they're utterly awful. Totally unfun. Which is why we now have these new queues.

I do not see how two teams of two queueing at the same time will have better odds of being together if at the same time 4 pugs queue. There are no fleets running with their tournament premades in the queues. A 5 man team from LF, or Pandas, or Hobos are nothing more than fleetmates that play together at that time when some one asks, "who is up for some PvP, X up in fleet channel." Many "Premades" as you put it are running less than optimal compositions. I will agree with you though about Scimitard builds. Most premades in the are just either looking for a good time or grinding or testing but nothing serious. The real premades will call out for privates in OPvP or TD.

i dont really care what the team makeup is. i simply plan to target the feds. i reckon many others have the same plan. feds=soft targets. the most efficient path to 15 kills is to target feds relentlessly.

the feds in kerrat seem to be higher quality than those i encounter in the queues. while a fed premade can be pretty nasty, fed pubbies pretty much just roll over and die if you merely target them.
They devs should just allow solo que-ing into the team ques(like it is now), that way 2 "friends" can que against 2 other "friends" or against full teams. The PUG que should remain solo and PUGly. This change is needed to help bring back the population to PVP, to justify further pvp improvements everyone is clamoring for.
With the proposed changes, I see no one complaining about taking their "dynamic duo' into the team que against more worthy team oriented opponents, because only the truly serious PvPer would dare to do so with full understanding of the odds stacked against them. Their (people who must be able to partner in a PUG que) cause seems to be simply about PUG smashing, and shifting the odds in their favor before the match begins, especially when the que type they desire already exists in the current pvp system.
Yes re-learning to fly solo in PvP can be scary (current pvp) for some, but we have all done it before, and especially if it is to further the cause, of improving the current state of PvP.

Again not 100% true. I am seeing I am scared of big bad fleets that PvP even two on the same team is too many. If me and you PvP solo most of the time but are tired of the ineptness of the pugs we have had on our team and decide hey lets hit the queues together so that at least we are on a team where you only have 3 kirks instead of 4 to make it little more fun there is no harm in that. The thing is most of the quese will be filled with Galaxies running BP and Aceton beam and other "usueless" powers and then the QQ will be they were owned in a match because their uber PvE build filed them. Those people will never be a part of the PvP community. Many that go into PvP to actually give it a shot think they have a solid build until they see someone running a better version and that is where the learning starts. What good are the pug queues if you have 5 strangers with zero want or need to assist any of their teammates except loose focus fire.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
I'm gonna ignore the trolls in this thread and those attempting to derail it.
As I stated in the OP, what I foresee happening is that out of a dozen people queued for a match, six of them will be from the same fleet with four of them ending up on a team together which in fact would lead to more pugstomping.
At this point in time, there is not a big enough group of people queuing up to disperse all the fleets and teams into fair numbers. Maybe in the future if more people are queuing they can allow the buddy system but for now it should be left out.
If there weren't so many trolls and people with a bad attitude in STO PvP we wouldn't need to worry about this happening so much. But the fact that people are already openly discussing how they will abuse the system is troubling. It's up to Cryptic to not let it happen.

I hear you and definitely agree. However, as a casual pvp player I've come a long way in a very short time. The last 5 matches have all been excellent. In the last one I dealt and healed 1.5 million each (in a free ship) and could hang getting pounded by the entire enemy team. I doubt I will ever be a top player, but I'm already happy with it. I kind of like the odd cheese for the visuals.
Point is this can be a great improvement as long as there's not a secret 4 person team exploit discovered. If I'm only going to be facing a 2 person team it can still be a good match.

Oh, this was me. Maybe I should give the statement more context (I probably should have been more clear to begin with).
As I've said in numerous threads about splitting the queues.. In a 5v5 arena, just 2 players working together against a true PUG group can still decide the outcome of the match. There are even a few players that can do it on their own. I did not mean to imply that I intended to drop into the queues with other paired Pandas simultaneously. I simply meant that I still enjoy playing with friends, and if there's only 2 people on the map working together, well, they usually decide the match.
This is what I get for using zone chat while inebriated...

Any two PvPers from a PvP fleet against a five man pug has probably 75% chance of beating the 5 man pug. Once a match starts it is easy to find the weakest link and then bang on it until the match is over. Or kill all 5 in a stagger and kill them as they come back to the scene one by one. Or wait for someone to go zooming around the map at full impulse itching for a fight and gank them while they have all their power in engines.
I mean what is going to happen when a hobo and and a panda are on the same team and the other team is 5 guys from 5 different fleets have little to no experience or only casual experience in PvP.

Your used to playing against the ones that are currently entering the FvK que... those are mostly farmers I hate to break it to you. The farmers love FvK right now. Most half decent players that pug stay out of FvK mainly because 9 out of 10 times if you get a game to pop you are the only fed playing on the team... the rest are really just rushing in as fast as they can to blow up and get there reward.

I had to many of those matches on my klinks. One of the biggest reasons I barely play my klink toons anymore. Cryptic did a real number on klinks they gave them to many reasons for Fed players to not que against them. First it was stupid pets, then terribly balanced cstore consoles, then unbalanced Fleet weapon procs. To many reasons for people to not play them.... it has lead all the Vs Klingon stuff in the game being a Farm zone.
This que change has me excited to start playing my Klinks more again. Now with a mixed que there won't be the issue of facing multiple farmers in everything you do anymore. Klink challenge should go up a nice amount which will make them fun again.
Playing STO while inebriated hehe well thanks for coming forward and clearing that up Brandon. Whether you meant what you said or not it still does make one think about what the other not so nice pvpers will do when season 9 hits.
Whether one or two people can decide the outcome of a 5v5 arena match is debatable and can depend on a number of variables if it were to be considered true. In my opinion, there is a difference between players influencing the outcome of a match and a stomping.
The former has the possibility of being a entertaining match for both sides, the latter does not.
I think we can agree that a two person team has a much greater chance to affect the outcome of a match than someone flying solo and along those lines it seems to go against what we're trying to achieve.
Isn't the whole point of these changes that we've been asking for to encourage funner more balanced matches and to promote growth in PvP? Does the potential for the two player buddy system to be abused merit the removal of it?
If the answer is no, then ok I'll be quiet about it and move on. If we can honestly say that yes it could be a problem, then we should ask for some dev consideration here.
