I don't like the idea of going from 24 traits to just 4 space and 4 ground... I just seems wrong.
I might have missed something but the new rep (Which I don't like) do we have to start the grind all over again? or is it ready for us in season 9?
The new Rep, currently called 8472 Counter Command, is the only one you'll have start from scratch.
Any that you've previously completed will remain completed when S9 comes into play. The only difference is that these older Reps will be brought into line to make them more like the Dyson rep.

have a layout for PvP, a layout for everyday but keep the rep system as it is now

Actually, instead of having to chose, you can build on the fly, to suit the situation... This will be beneficial to you...
It's basically the same as swapping out Armor consoles to match your enemies weapons.

Just to chime in...I am in favor of virtually all the recent reputation changes that have come or on thier way. They make the game MUCH more alt friendly which I have argued for some time can only make cryptic more money. A lot of the busy work has been taken from the projects in terms of commodities vs just paying ec. They are also making what I feel is a sensible change regarding rep powers. All good to me vs the alt grind hell that was.

Well you are assuming they are changing this to bring balance to PvP which they are not.
This is about Power Creep making it next to impossible for them to tune PvE mission difficulty.
See the last major STF.. Hive as it highlights the issue. If they make content hard it challanges the players that have all the gear all the rep and nice tight builds... On the other hand it annoys the heck out of a larger group of players that do not... and new players can't complete it at all.
Hive was nerfed I think 3 times. It is also the only mission in 2 years now that was released with out a Hard timer on it... they added hard timers because they know what rewards they want people to have after X amount of time playing... but there is no way to have a Set amount of time per mission with out a timer right now. New players take 10min to complete STFs still and sometimes even fail them... those of us with full reps and gear can pile through them in under 2 min on average. That is a major issue for a game designer.

thx for that post .. yeah i aint grinding for that **** maybe the ground gear like i did with dyson but all that extra **** can just kick rocks i have fleet gear for a reason .. because its worth it .. idk why they keep messing with things i like and not fixing or improving the stuff that i dont but i hear that with everyone on these post and in zone chats .. maybe season 9 will be the final season with the way things are looking for the game.
I've been on "STO" since May of 2010. I wish you would get your fact straight. Do I really need to take a picture of my captains log from in-game to get that corrected? :cool:
how is 4/4/4 better than 20 now?? Oo make it 4/4 and 16 as the 4 actives are mandatory and there are only 4 active powers
so we have 4 ground and 4 space compared to now 8 ground and 8 space.... (plus the 4 actives for both)
it still isnt better ..... yea i can no slot two T2 powers.. or two T4 powers of the same rep... great? Oo nah before i could have one passive for each rank for each rep and i still could chse what i liked more. now it takes away 8 choices for me. how the hell is this better as a player i now have to chose always some powers but not having all those i like. as i cant slot more than 4 space. and even with doubled buffs and whatsoever. nearly all my ships on tribble now have 4 k less hull or shields depending on which 4 passive space powers i got rid of.
I see why the OP may have asked the question. I got on Tribble and all the reps were reset to 0 with a newly transferred to Tribble character that has tiers on Live.
So if it's not resetting them to 0 even though what they will unlock is given, that means if you are tier 3 of one rep, you will have to redo it from scratch to unlock tier 4.
Cryptic better be sure about this not being a bug before it goes live.

That is not a bug. It has worked that way since Season 7 went live. Reputation progress is not transferred over to Tribble.
Don't sweet it is just a tribble thing. Rep hasn't transfered over to tribble ever.
When the devs said we should all go check it out this weekend. I was going to say something... then thought no if they said we should test it perhaps they have at last fixed that so the toon copy stuff works for rep. I haven't transfered anything since pre arc, so I figured they must have got it fixed.
Well seems they screwed that one up. I'm sure the op wasn't the only one wondering what was up.

So its not as restrictive as you are saying... you can also select multiples from the same tier that right now lock the other out.
They are also buffing some of the traits by a lot. In some cases double.
None of which is necessarily good without major second and third steps.
ATM, this is unchaining Aux2b from Ep2X all over again......
