One of my favorite parts about STO (and maybe in general), is the amount of Voice Over (VO) I've seen recently, it really really adds to the experience and one day, I hope - everything will be.
Another one, is the upcoming "re-design" for ESD, while creating new content is good, revisiting and improving on older, more 'dated' things is a lovely touch. This really, and I mean really really really gives me a lot of pleasure knowing that other places may receive the same treatment one day. It looks beautiful.
Speaking of redesigns, I've love to see planet textures be updated please. Earth looks a tad, blocky... even on max settings ah well.
And, the last, you know it... THE FOUNDRY. Players can do so much with this, I've seen a lot of creative content and it brings so much to the 'end game' for players to do and stay playing. Despite the rocky relationship with STO and the value of importance it may or may not hold, it allows us players to create what we'd like to see. (Eula depending. Hahaha XD)
For example, the mission I'm working on currently is a holodeck simulation based on a 'what if'. "What if the Undine successfully invade the Alpha Quadrant and start bio-terraform Earth for their own content? What can you do in this situation? What should be done... what shouldn't be done".
It will be titled "- The Omega Initiative -", but due to the current 'state' of the foundry, I doubt it'll finished when S9 hits to the standard I'd like it by. >.<
The people in my friend list. It sounds a bit silly, but it really is. The main reason I play this game is not for the grind, but to play with the people in my fleet and its allies. I have fun with them, which is all I seek in a game. And especially in an MMO, you will need to find good people to play. Otherwise you will end up complaining about everyone and their mother due to all the PUGs you do.
On the other hand, I really like tanking. Yes, I know, there are people here cutting through dreadnoughts as if they were made of butter. I don't like that difficulty (very easy) setting. I prefer to enter combat in my 6k Excelsior, make a charge on a group of 3 Typhoons, 2 escorts, 1 science vessel and 6 Miranda's and take all that damage, while slowly butchering all of those enemies. (ofcourse with people closing rifts and eventually helping me kill the enemy).
That it's based on Star Trek !! seriously.. there simply is no other game that let's you experience lots of the Star Trek universe like STO (even with all its flaws) does.
"We might get pretty singed at that range, but not as singed as they're going to get. Engage."

Yup this for me too
Even with he graphics issues/game play issues/support issues (delete as appropriate) I still love the game.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
If this weren't Star Trek based I wouldn't be here.

STO has given me the chance to emulate what I've seen and loved on Star Trek.
I've loved Star Trek mostly for it's space battles and STO has given me a platform to emulate those battles. STO and Bridge Commander are pretty up there and I would like to see some sort of mash up of the 2 but that it a want not a need.
As well as someone mentioned, it's the people I've met over my time playing STO that has made this an even better experience. Meeting like minded people and playing together has made the grind in the game less painfull.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
It's Trek based, but it also has some really neat features. It's not just "your ship". It's your ship, your ship's captain, your captain's bridge crew. It feels more personal, unlike other games in the same genre, such as EVE, where it is just your ship, and your actual avatar - despite the high quality - might as well be irrellevant.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

Sorry, but i dont care how many cool features STO has. A game so buggy as hell like this, the only thing good it has, it is the Star Trek universe, thats all.
I played millions of mmorpgs and im gladly will return to some of em before playing STO due to so many bugs and fails. The only thing keeping me playing is the Star Trek ambient. There is nothing else different from other mmorpgs.

I very much enjoy the whole Star Trek genre and "feel" of the game. I like the ability to customize ships, builds, crew members, not just in selection but in appearance as well.
Some people complain about "the grind" but for me, anything worth having is worth waiting for and working towards. I like being able to go to the c-store to buy things I want when my impatience sometimes gets the better of me or when I want a certain item or ship or "bauble" that I can't grind for.
And please forgive me, I like to pug. I like to meet and play with new people, especially those from other countries and I like picking up new ideas and tactics from observations and/or chatting.
I could write a 1500 word essay on what I like about the game but those are a few of the highlights.
The only thing I don't like about the game is the thought that one day, it might end.
The fact that you can fly your ship, and have ship combat - IN SPACE... I started playing SWTOR, and it's like "space, what's that?". - so +1 Cryptic, you are better then Bungee.
Mol'rhian ~ the scenery and audio is simply beautiful. I remember just how astounded I was when I first set foot there. Otherwise, the ability to fly a Cruiser and unload a Torpedo Spread on a bunch of targets with their shield facing(s) down, destroying them simultaneously.
There is also the ability to create and customize myself a crew.

there are lots of things i like about sto but this happens to be top of my list also, as it happens now i am this far into it i realise that i would be an awsome game even without the star trek backdrop.
i just glad that being a trek fan made me give the game a try otherwise i may never have known what i was missing out on.
happilly now i have come to realise what a good game this is and being star trek based is just the icing on the cake.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I'm most grateful for the foundry since that's given me some IRL confidence. But its maybe 3rd on my list personally.
I think I'm most grateful for giving me a Trek outlet that's (a) faithful to the source material whether that's deadly serious missions to outrageously campy ones [Hey, the camp was part of Trek's charm too!] and (b) an option that's not the Novelverse (which I feel has jumped the shark and become a circle of self-congratulatory writers) or the JJ Verse.
Free flow between space and ground within a storyline, where both systems are sufficiently deep to sustain an engaging encounter/storyline even in isolation.

Mine Trap Supporter
= having your own complete crew.
A pity that this feature isn't build upon at all.
I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

TRIBBLE Hydra! Hail Janeway!
This is the core reason I play Star Trek Online. I'm the type of person who appreciates the smaller things in life.
And the Star Trek MMO that I have waited for... is one of the pinnacles of the modern day.
It's 2014 and I can log into the universe of Star Trek Online and fire up my warp core and go to any various places in the Star Trek Universe.
This is the kind of reality we fight wars for. Respect it, admire it, and never stop looking to change and improve.
I'm just going to piggyback on this response. I like MMO's, I like Star Trek, and in this game the two meet. Faults and all, I love it.
As of the present, I'd have to say all the time I have for breeding and training Pokemon?
I thought WoW's forums had angry elitist snobs, but I never could have imagined the level STO forums has.
To crush the Klingons, see them driven before me, and to hear their lamentation of their lack of content.
