Lately for the last year i been a target of a spammer selling ingame currency for real money i hit ignore and another user with this website keeps targeting me and ignore is not enough
for this suggestion i ask for a ingame harassment report cause if a person gave ya the same ingame mail with the same message for like 10 times it should count as harassment
in my case i got the same ingame mail message 10 times from 10 different players
(back to my suggestion) when u click ignore a second window should appear asking "have you got this message before yes or no?" if u say yes then you will be taken to a harassment report part of the said suggestion asking for details and how often u got this harassment when you submit it will search the users on your ignore list and check the server archive if u got the same message then it will submit a report to a moderator to look into it asap.
this suggestion is to help root out players that harass you for no reason be it gold selling or just won't leave u alone what do ya think good or bad?
Hmmm, I believe the solution to that would require them to look for specific parts of the text that are always the same and at the same place in order to filter them out.
I'm not usre if when you report spam it just ignores the account or sends some sort of report for verification. I'm going to guess it's just the first option.
The most you can do is pull a support ticket reporting the violation with the users full name, not just the handle but also the @part of it. Other than that you may want to redo your privacy settings so that they just can't reach you.
It wouldn't surprise me if these vendors were using a TRIBBLE client that allows them to quickly create and delete characters so they can pop in spam and pop out and switch quickly.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
I have long been saying that the mail tool in sto is lacking in many ways.
one such way would be an option to only allow mail from certain contacts this would save the hassle of many of these unwanted spam mails.
you could easily add or remove contacts from your list as and when required.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Are you guys in big fleets or have a large friend list with players you don't really know? Because I don't get a lot of spam either. Maybe one email while I am online, but since leaving a big fleet even that stopped.
We all saw what happened the last time they tried an automated system to check text then ban people using RMT speech.
We don't need another fiasco like that.
Whatever they do there needs to be a human being reviewing everything to prevent mistakes.
+1 here.
If you want to know what happened the last time Cryptic tried to eliminate gold spammers, check my signature.
"Report as spam" works good enough. There is nothing you can do when it comes to messages from different accounts, since they are, well, sent form different accounts. If you want to scan chat/mail for certain words, banbot happens. When said banbot was out killing off random people, spammers just changed name of their "business".
How do they get your accountname? By seeing you at social zones. By joining fleets via accepting ninja invites (they join only to get a copy of fleet roster).
May 2013, automatic permanent ban for mentioning gold-seller sites pwebranflakes: this system is currently in place and working the way it should. moradum: I got banned for saying "I started my day with cutting off 3 MM off of the bottom of my cabinet"
Cryptic owns companies that sell you the ingame currency which you need to play the game more effectively & efficiently. So, things are hard to get for the reason of encouraging cash flow from you to them. You can report the spam, but it won't stop if it's them doing it.

I thought I destroyed Gre'thor :P

But since this game was released, I've only received these once, and that was in the initial week.
There must be some setting or something I do, that you guys don't, that prevents me from getting the spams...
LOL, written like that...
Anyway, in my case I used to get these mails a lot a few months ago. I got two this week, but before that there were months I didn't get any.
Ain't Nobody Got Time for That

Sadly, Cryptic and PWE can only "cut the weed, not root it out" as it were. Simply put, it is the nature of the beast.

Why are you not rejoicing?

One does not simply destroy Gre'thor.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.
