Confused again.

I know this is the third time I have asked this sort of question, but I am not really that much the wiser, now, anyway.


Brandon - PWEBranflakes - Felczer does what, exactly, now?

Captain Smirk (what is your name, sorry?) is Community manager for STO (keep up the good work!), so is he basically PR?

Laughing trendy ... what does (S)he do?

Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

I hope STO get's better ...

    Brandon is senior community manager, which means he trains and supervises all the other CMs and helps them out. He also does limited CM duties across all PWE games.

    Let me clear things up for you! :)

    So, many moons ago, when the planets were still young and the sun made of Columbian coffee, lived a man named Brandon (BranFlakes). He cared for STO and oversaw it grow and grow!

    Eventually he needed help as STO was getting increasingly bigger. So he found Trevor (CaptainSmirk). Trevor was perfect and well dressed. Trevor assisted Brandon with content creation. All was good.

    But then! *gasp* Brandon was needed. All the other games needed one to care for them and watch them grow. Brandon then became the official Lead Community Honcho. Trevor took over full responsibility of STO. .. until...

    Me! They opened up a dark Eldrict portal to find Morrigan (Laughing Trendy). She stepped out, bacon in one hand and coffee cup in the other. They had Morrigan help Trevor by doing content.

    So.

    Brandon - Lead Super Hero
    Trevor - Engagement Extraordinaire
    Morrigan - Content

    Hope that clears it up.

    I think I understand what you guys do, but your use of the term "content" on an MMO forum is pretty ambiguous. When most people use the term "content" in reference to MMOs they are talking about what the actual developers make(missions, various art assets, etc). Are you guys involved in the actual content creation?

    Sometimes I make pretty pictures. Sometimes I write things. :)

    To be clear, are the pictures you make or words you write used inside the actual game when people login, or outside the game in promotional articles?

    While I don't wish to speak ill of the...ascended, I've always preferred hot grilled slices of yummy pork (in sandwiches with HP sauce, if you please) to healthy fibrous breakfast cereals.

    But to be on topic, the CMs are responsible for the Public Relation and also handle most of the communication between us and the Devs.

    Here is an example of what I mean:


    Organicmanfred: Hey guys, I can't log into the game. On the character screen I get a time out. I am a paying customer so do it fast.

    Worffan: keep calm, the Devs do their best. Trendy, please tell the Devs I love them and want to marry everyone,

    Organicmanfred: Worffan, don't embarass yourself.

    PWlaughingtrendy: I have enough bacon for everyone. Thanks for the report, we are investigating.


    Trendy grabs the telephone and dials 0190-666

    "RingRing"... Cryptic Studios, Tacofangs here. Wha'sss UUUUUUUUUP?

    Trendy: uhm.. hello Mr. Tacofangs sir, CM Morrigan here

    Tacofangs: ha? Who? Ah yeah, the woman. What da ya want now?

    Trendy: ahm Mr. Tacofangs sir, players have reported time outs on the character screen

    Tacofangs: don't ya think we do not already know? Tell those %%#%* to wait or do $¥~~> until we have found the problem. And if they start to complain again tell them they can go *#}$<* and kiss our |}>$##. On the double now!

    Trendy: yes sir

    Trendy response on the forum

    Trendy: the team is Investigating and working on a solution. They want to say thank you for your understanding and patience and can't wait to have you back in game.

    Fairly certain the content she creates are blog posts and associated screenshots, and other promotional materials. Some of it might end up in-game as load screens, but that's about it.

    Hmm. You have an interesting perspective.

    I work with coordinating multiple sources. I tabulate data from community and other sources. I use those findings to help better facilitate communication about those issues. This might mean devs, engineers, or what have you.

    In turn I work with those sources to bring communications to yall. Blogs, posts, news. I'm your girl for that. I do so usually in the form of posts and blogs, whereas Smirk works more often to engage with you actively through other more direct mediums. Still, I post often here because I like to.

    People thus far, including Cryptic, seem pretty receptive to my communications. They know that I better facilitate helping all of you. Ultimately the players are our number 1 priority.

    Also I have never been referred to as "The Woman". :P
