Forget about a new minifaction from the star trek team

Capt.Smirk stated on mon. 16 dec. 2013 titled 2013 REFLECTIONS that the "First true expansion to STO, The Legacy of Romulus was fantastically successful... your enthusiastic support has put another expansion on schedule for late in 2014." NOT HAPPENING. The Technical difficulties of even a mini faction ( no independent fleet content ) are unsurmountable with the current star trek team. This is in spite of the extreme profit a new minifaction would bring to STO. I believe it will happen eventually to grab all that profit but technical difficulties are technical difficulties. So expect reworks of current content for the forseeable future. FOR THOSE WITH ARC SEE POST 7, ALL OTHERS SEE POST 17. RESEARCHING YOUR FACTS CLASS IS NOW IN SESSION. (or just post something with no research )

    It has already been stated, a couple of months ago in a Podcast, that the next Expansion Pack coming out near the end of this year WILL NOT be another mini-Faction.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Now try adding some source links for what "Capt.Smirk" is supposed to have said, along with some type of reasoning as to why YOU think another mini faction may not show up.

    Then we might have a discussion going.

    Expansion packs always deals with new factions, new classes, or a level cap increase. Since they claimed no new faction this year and STO won't add new classes, then that means the next Expansion will include a level cap increase.

    not really, most expansions for MMO's just add new missions or other stuff. in this case, they are adding the new rep related stuff and some more FEs

    All that is said in the 2013 Reflections about the expansion is "Your enthusiastic support has put another expansion on the schedule for late in 2014. Planning is in the early stages, so there is not much to share just yet, but we’re really hoping to provide something big for you all." All it says that they plan on doing an Expansion for 2014 not what the Expansion will cover. If you are referring to a particular post made by a dev, then you have to provide it as proof.

    From what I remember from the Podcast the new EP will be an expansion in the Delta Quadrant. I am assuming new Missions, new Sectors, new STFs and FEs.

    And yeah, I would not be surprised to see a slight Level increase - not with any tech increases but with new Captain's abilities - such as commanding a Fleet of ships.

    Now, if you want an adult discussion on something, great - I will happily look over your source material, your links and consider your logical reasoning. So far, you have not provided any of that.

    You came here, typed up a wall of text and left it at that. And you want me to take you seriously ?

    My 2 year old, in the middle of a tantrum behaves in the way your opening post reads. So why should I treat you any different to my 2 year old?

    Go back to the "kindergarden class" you mentioned - as, it would seem you still have a lot to learn , including how to spell - kindergarten (well, according to Google Chrome you got the spelling wrong - as a Brit, we don't have or use that word.. so I'm taking Chrome on face value here, that you got it wrong).

    I agree. Expect reworking of current content ( a new terran invasion grind, sorry we just did that, a new terradome grind? or whatever they have in the game.) Little cost to update old stuff and they will live with the whinning. ( I almost put winning, freudian slip or ?).

    Thank god for that, too much grind for me to bother with another faction. Been pruning characters as it is.. Waiting on a re-species and re-career token plus the ability to move lock box ships off a character to another one before I delete some others.

    God I hope not. There really is no point in that considering all the content, gear and ships that have been introduced for level 50. I see absolutely no point in increasing except to peeve off players. I won't go re-buying my fleet ships etc just because they have decided to increase the cap 10 levels to level 60. To be honest more than anything it will make me just cut my losses and say goodbye to STO.

    It's originally a German word, though it often misspelled in the US.

    Look at the various STO Seasons. If you consider adding just new missions and other stuff as an Expansion, then it cheapens what Expansions mean to STO. Season 5 introduced the duty officer system and the 2800 FE series, Season 6 introduced the Fleet Holding system, and Season 7 introduced the Reputation system and New Romulus. If STO introduced new zones, systems, and missions in regular Seasons, then an Expansion has to be something extra special and introducing new zones, new systems, and new missions is not enough. Although, I suppose introducing the Delta Quadrant with multiple zones, lots of new npc factions, and an Exploration System would classify as an Expansion.

    We do not know they are changing the history of the Undine. That is just your speculation.

    And, it is not like Star Trek never changed its history to fit its story needs. How did those Klingons get a Cloaking Device again? :D

    I really hope we romulans become a full faction that /acts/ like their romulan, I'm tired of being free labor for the Klingons and Feds with a vulcan loving leader, it ruins it for me...

    One of the main reasons Roms are not a full Faction is because Cryptic does not want 3-way PVP - whether it is too much trouble to code or they cannot code it. Thus every new Faction added to the game will have to be in an alliance with the Blue or Red side.

    I agree. But a new faction could be in the klingon fleet system with klingon romulans and fed romulan rebels with the feds, blue/red maintained.

    Sure, and a new Faction could be Cardassians allying with Fed or KDF to protect themselves from True Way and Dominion.

    Or a new Faction could be Liberated Borg allying with Fed or KDF to protect themselves from Borg and Undine.

    Or a new Faction could be Xindi allying with Fed or KDF to protect themselves from the Sphere Builders.

    Or...

    A new Faction could be anything, but Cryptic does not want to do another new Faction this year. Personally, I am happy about that as I do not need another race to level. I need more end-game content for all the characters I already have. :)
