Who wants a mirror oddessy

gibbonigibboni Member Posts: 29 Arc User
edited March 2014 in Federation Discussion
After seeing it in the revamped mirror incursion I thought to my self wow I would like to get my hands on a mirror oddy or even just a mirror oddy skin.

So who else wants one or thinks it would eventually be a possibility for cryptic to make it possible.

    If it's:

    1. The Tactical odyssey
    2. FREE
then yes I want one :D
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

I'd like to see a Mirror skin as an unlock for all ships, even if it was a C-Store unlock.

As for a Mirror Odyssey, I'm all for it. Let's get a Mirror Oberth while we're at it.

Because a Mirror Oberth would be adorable and evil goatee-worthy.

They could do it. It'd be based on the free version they gave out and not any of the c-store ones. But yeah, they could do it.

I never understood the fascination with mirror skins. It's just some yellow blur slapped on the standard hull.

It's the Star Trek equivalent to the red stripes that make cars go faster. Only in this case, yellow blurs make your ship porportionally more evil.

And we all know how evil has a direct relationship with epicbuttkickness.

Or even better, all red with white go faster stripes.

That would be divine on my kumari.

A MU Odyssey... Sounds intriguing. Maybe they can make it a skin unlock in the C-store, like how they used to have. Of course, then people are going to want a MU Bortasqu' and a MU Scimitar... Wait... that sounds pretty cool!

Me neither. And once again it's that weird fanservice time-limbo: The yellow markings were not present on 23rd century mirror ships, yet for some reason in 2409 they decided in all their wicked evilness "Go back to yellow stripes!".

I know this not the right place for that but: The Mirror Universe has been completely overused and it's original, rather cool purpose was abandoned long ago. Let this stuff just vanish in some "transdimensional rift", please... :D;)

The kumari I'm flying right now that I wanted to paint red is the Valkyrie.

This image being posted in response to something I said about red paint is being construed by me as somewhat of an omen...

Edit: I think I broke english. My bad. I can't think of a better way to rephrase that.

I wouldn't mind a Mirror Universe Odyssey. I also wouldn't mind a Mirror Universe Miranda either.

Of course, neither of those will happen.

I don't even use the paint job on them or the prefix. I Just like how they offer a cheap and fairly effective ship for people that may not want to use the endgame ship they get stuck with. I have used a few on the character's I have had. I always enjoyed the Mirror Sovereign and Mirror Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. There fun, useful, and offer player's with little to no cash a way to have something else for their toon. That to me is the Spirit of the Mirror Universe ship's.

Actually, the change to the yellow colors was because players were complaining that the mu ships didnt look like mu ships, they were indistinguishable from standard starfleet ships only in the fact that they had purple warp nacelles.

The yellow blur isn't always the difference sometimes the difference in the ships look is dramatic. Look at the Patrol Escort. In it's mirror version it looks like the Prometheus. And sometimes that aesthetic is far better then the original.

I would like to get a mirror skin for the chimera, I want to see what the mirror version looks like.

That's my point. They shouldn't be yellow anymore. But as tenkari pointed out, originally the yellow WAS gone and MU ships looked like regular ships with a different purple) warp nacelle glow. That would have made sense, yet people once again complained that the MU ships don't look like those in ENT and tadaa: wonky, nonsensical fanservice so we have outdated designs in "2409".

well, there's a good reason the 23rd century enterprise didn't have those yellow markings...another model would've had to be made, and back in those days, star trek didn't have a very large budget

come to think of it, was the enterprise itself even seen in mirror, mirror? if it wasn't ever shown, who's to say it wouldn't have had the yellow markings

We see the ISS Enterprise http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/ISS_Enterprise_%28NCC-1701%29

Even the remastered version doesn't look vastly different from the USS Enterprise, which is the point of the MU to begin with, by the way. So, once again the budget argument doesn't count - canon is 23rd century MU ships don't have yellow markings (the reasons are pretty much irrelevant at that point). So going back to those stripes, as inconsistent as STOs future vision of the Terran Empire is, makes absolutely no sense and is a pure ENT reference.

Hmm, wouldn't think it would be too hard to do a Mirror version of the basic Odyssey (and Bortas), just swap the BOff and console setup between the basic Odyssey and Bortas, slap some yellow paint on them and done.

If you really wanted to get tricky, play with the classifications and swap them as well, battlecruiser Ody (can use cannons) and standard cruiser Bortas (I don't think KDF has any cruisers that can use all 4 commands yet do they?)

No, because all KDF ships of similar class are classified as BattleCruisers, which makes them unable to use Command: Attract Fire by definition. Same goes for the Avenger. It doesn't have Command: Attract Fire because it's classified as a BattleCruiser. I have no idea what their excuse was for the Gal-X, but eh... *shrugs* Hope that answered your question.

My 2 cents on the subject. First the yellow stripes should stay, The majority of mirror universe fans love them and i include myself as well. Actually i keep mirror advanced escort in my ship slots, for the only reason of the mirror material use on my prime universe fleet patrol escort. About the mirror Odyssey - Yes i believe they will add it, possibly in the next lockbox. Lets think for a second - The newest mirror ship is Mirror Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. The difference between it and the prime universe is that 1 ENG console slot is transferred to TAC console slot and BOFF swap. The prime ship cost 200000 FC. Now what is the problem to do the same with the 200000 FC Ody?. Since the Ody is Mirror Dreadnought they may transfer one console to tactical and do some BOFF change as well - just like with the Heavy Retrofit.

Now that I think about it there is also that mirror time ship Mobius class so any mirror ship doesn't sound to far of a stretch,

The only one left I would want is a mirror nx class maybe a torture chamber console to go with it :) mhuahahahahah.

Only as an unlockable skin for all ships. No need to create new versions of all the ships we already have.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."
