I can confirm that KDF captains also have the kit visuals, with some probably temporary low resolution textures, and a different set of colors for glowing bits from federation options.

I really like the current way of everything aviable from tactical, to engineering bits, and i really look forward using the science holographic shield visual on my tactical, and even some bridge officers, if we get the option.

I'd like BOFFs to be able to:

    - wear all Kit options in the tailor, no matter THEIR rank - make it tie to the player's rank, maybe?
    - have access to MACO/Omega uniform categories, or even all categories
    - earn an extra costume slot (for free, of course)

    Please Cryptic. This is needed.

Are the Armor/Kit visuals included in the costume tab at the tailor, or do they get an extra tab?

If the later, I surely would prefer an extra tab, some costume options already trigger more additional costume options and with the armor/kit options it would be to much on one screen.

They are on the "Costume" tab.

The glow options for kit pieces all use the Romulan glow palette. The Federation kits use colors not in this palette, such as orange (used in Engineering kits), and red (used in Tactical kits).

Please may they make these available.

I've also noticed that captains are missing a lot of kit options, even at level 50.

For example, some of the chest pieces are missing the final look from Mk X. The one I've found which isn't would be the Scientist one. (Although the Doctor one appears to be present, but the holographic bits on it aren't.)

Almost all of the other pieces with more than one or two different versions also seem to be missing their most advanced versions.

It's a bug. This functionality will return for ships.

What about armor? I don't really understand why it was removed in the first place. I mean, I'm glad options are being added to the tailor, but I liked being able to toggle armor appearance on and off at will.

Okay, this may be beating a dead horse, but.......RESTORE SHIP VISUALS!!!!!! Some people CAN"T STAND the Borgified look on their ship yet they like the Borg gear....Same with Dyson, HG, MACO, and others.

RESTORE our ability to turn the visuals of our armor on and off. There may be get togethers that some fleets might have that we just want an easier way to just disable the look without changing outfits.....Oh, wait, changing outfits won't even work without DISABLING the VISUALS OF THE ARMOR...

Edit: You can change the outfits, but then you would need to buy more outfit slots to get all the looks you want. It's really more of a pain than the simpler toggle button next the kits/armor/weapons

C'Mon Cryptic, get your head out of your butt and stop trying to take away what we like and FIX what we are complaining about.

On another note, ESD looks frikkin' sweet. Now, where is our changes we've been ASKING ABOUT for our ships engine rooms, and Trophy cases for our Romulan ships?

There may be more I want to say, but this is my first look complaints.

Quick questions since I'm popping in and out of the forums real quick so apologies if these have been asked before.

    1) Will the armor visuals include those of the Chronodynamic Armor seen on http://sto.gamepedia.com/Chromodynamic_Armor as either a straight up addition for all players or maybe an unlock for those that have it?

    2) Will the armors have or get an option to change materials like some uniform parts have matte and glossy? Some of the armors are reflective and some are not and I'm wondering if we can get toggles/options for these.

I love having moar costume options and as much as I hate new additions because of the time I'll be stuck in the tailor, I can't wait for them on live. :)

You're right. The work here is very important.

I concur with the requests for richer color palette. Players and NPCs should be using the same palette. Bad RPG that doesnt let the player blend in with NPC faction members.

I concur. Also, is there any word on whether boffs are going to have access to everything?

The silence on the official side of things keeps me less than optimistic about the answer to that question.

Well it seems like the answer would simply relate to the fact that our boffs haven't achieved the rank of Vice Admiral. Kit bits associated with higher stages of the level grind wouldn't be available to them.

But to that I say "Nuts to that, just unlock everything for everyone."

Please put back the ability to Toggle armour on and off on our boffs or give them their own costume slots. I love being able to switch between uniform and Armour when questing. I don't want my boff to tool up to a diplomatic mission in full combat gear.

I love that you have given us the ability to have extra looks to our boffs but please don't give with one hand and take away with the other. :(

I really hope that boffs not being able to use Omega, Maco and and other suit visuals, is a bug.

I'll be wanting a refund for the extra 4 of each Mk12 Omega, Maco and Dyson suits, if it isn't...

If it were up to me, I would implement both systems.

Add all the new options to the tailor so I can make nice custom costumes. Also leave in place the canned overlays so I can use body armor as an alternate appearance for my boffs (who don't have multiple costume slots to switch between).

While we're at it, maybe we can run some quick database scripts, like...

    IF Costume_Type <> 'Uniform', THEN set Costume_Type='Uniform'

Voila, no more KDF renegades bug, rep armor for BOFFs, Cryptic sells more uniform slots, everyone wins.

Having said that, if your guys hearts are really set on making this change, have you taken steps to prevent players who bought the Mk XII Jem'Hadar set from losing their special armor skin? After all, folks payed a not-insignificant amount of lobi crystals for that unlock. Likewise, will there be any relief for diplomacy BOFFs who may currently be costumed with their host faction's armor overlays?

Good point. Doesn't the new Hirogen ground armor in the lobi store unlock a special costume you can customize at the tailor? They should do that for the Jem'hadar Mk XII ground set upgrade in the lobi store.

The problem is that the armor visuals for the Mk XII Jem'hadar armor are not visible on KDF or romulan players, making their purchase for the outfit a waste. In fact, those 2 factions don't have most, or any, armor or kit visuals at all and have been requested for a very long time.

The armor and kit visuals being made into customizable costume options at the tailor was an awesome idea. I haven't tested it yet, but I've read that KDF and romulans can use them now.

There is a simple solution to that problem.

Find your character portrait on the screen in a ground map that has your health and shield bars. Right click this in the UI and you have an option to switch costumes. A new window will pop up with a list of all your created costumes. Make sure to rename your costume slots at a tailor so you can remember which is which. :) This will make switching to your armor/kit visuals costume much easier.

This feature has been in the game for a long time, at least since I started playing in Sept. 2012.

Seems to me, BOFFs wearing Omega/MACO/KHG armor can be enabled by simply enabling the drop-down selector. Simple filter will suffice for this: if the BOFF is wearing the armor (not the shield or weapon, but the armor), then enable the associated drop-down selector on that BOFF. At that point the player has the ability to choose to show the armor, or to show a uniform, or whatever other options may be enabled.

I just noticed this today on tribble. Went to edit a boff and noticed at the tailor that I can now choose M.A.C.O. in the dropdown in the head options. The helmet is there and so is everything else. Also I noticed my boffs can now use the armor and kit options at the tailor. :D

If we can't have the rep armor in the tailor for our boffs, can we please keep the ability to toggle armor visuals on our boffs at least?

I can't see how removing features people like is an improvement.

    I generally agree with this.

Regardless, I don't want the armor visuals to be removed from gear, because I and others use armor visuals on our BOffs, like the MACO armor visuals for example. Since BOffs only have one costume slot, this is needed to preserve their standard uniform appearance AND have access to armor appearance at the same time.

However, if we're given at least one extra costume slot (that we can swap on the fly) for each of our BOffs, then this isn't needed.

And as others have mentioned, removing armor visuals from gear removes appearance stuff we don't have access to in the tailor in the first place, so please...keep armor visuals, or include them *all* in the tailor and follow the suggestions quoted and otherwise mentioned in this thread.

Nobody said that. In fact a dev had responded saying that not being able to disable visuals on ship equipment was a bug. I haven't checked yet to see if it was fixed, but they aren't going to take that away.

    Proof http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=15957031&postcount=5
I was just able to get confirmation that the removal of the "Disable Visuals" feature from the Context drop-down on Space Gear was unintended, and it will be restored in a future patch.

Attempting to add Costume Overlays to our Ship Tailor is a ... problematic endeavor. We've discussed it in the past, and it's not completely impossible. But the time investment is rather enormous due to all of the different moving parts involved. I wouldn't anticipate seeing such a feature any time soon, if ever.
