Indeed, crew size does need to become a larger factor.
I understand that desire that a lot of players have. But it's just not a good path to set yourself upon. Crew size in this game is a very broken mechanic and the people who can fix it, aren't the people who created the problem. So any fix will create more problems.
Conceptually I can sympathize with where you're coming from.
But realistically? It's pandora's box. Let's leave it shut.

Just no, no, NO to any and all ideas that suggest the devs even try to touch the crew mechanic. They'll break way more than they fix. We need to band together and prevent that. Yes it's a thread dangling on the sweater that is STO. Just leave it be!
I'm in two minds about the class, I quite like the concept and even some of the abilities and if the crew system it's based on were working properly and more abilities actually worked more based on the system I think as a class it could be viable as an alternative to straight DPS, certainly as a potential tank/healer/science substitute.
