Hey I have a new idea for the Zen Store. Since Caitians and Ferasans get to have tail, why not the alien species that players create. Another alien species is this one pink dude. You can find him around New Romulus. Anyway, this would really cool to where you give an alien a tail and then edit it. You could edit the length, size, width, etc. So, yeah... I just thought it was unfair that only certain species and an NPC got tails. Hope the tail option gets added.
Nice new quality of life feature. 2 per ship is a nice start.

I'm just wondering though if that "32 loadouts max per account" means that the loadouts are tied to your account or not, because that would barely leave one for each of my 32 characters...
You can buy an add-on in the Z-store up to 32 extra ABOVE the 2 per ship. So in your case, 64 loadouts for free with 32 more for your other designs. 96 in TOTAL.

Right, I forgot that the 2 free was per ship. Thanks.
Its very nice, although im not sure its working quite right yet. my bridge officers dont tend to swap over as they should and the power trays still get a little messy when switching around, but its better and quicker than before so yeah, good additions.

How can you possibly have 32 characters? Surely you don't play them all? Sounds like its time to do some deleting.
So far I haven't experienced any glitches, although I've only been experimenting with 2 of my toons. It's neat - i have to say it's not only handy, but it's almost a necessity.
I have found that i am updating the saved loadout often. Switching doens't seem to be a problem.
You CANNOT (unlike Bran suggested) discharge a ship and reclaim your loadout slots. Which is to say, you can discharge a ship, but doing so fubars your loadouts beyond measure.
I saved a loadout on my Tal'Shiar Adapted Destroyer (on tribble); then docked and discharged a random ship. Upon return to space, tray and boffs were horrible messed up (as expected). So, full of hope, I tried 'Equip loadout.' System said it had loaded the saved loadout (had to switch ships before it would even offer me the re-load option); except it hadn't: still the same messed up tray and boffs. And to add insult to injury, now my 'Equip loadout' bar was totally greyed out, with nothing left any more.
As I predicted, the devs didn't really create a meta-record for the loadouts, but instead just strung a few existing things together (several of which have always been broken, like ship discharging).
Those of you whom this system is working for are fortunate, but I wouldn't get too used to it. This is not working for me AT ALL. I launched into space, saved my loadout and switched ships. When I switched back the whole thing was chaos. My BOs were completely messed up (some weren't even the right BO at all.), my toolbar was pandemonium and reloading the loadout did nothing.
I'm personally going to be avoiding this new "feature" like the plague. If what Meimeitoo said is true about discharging ships, this is going to be ugly.
At this point everything is so buggy and rife with old messy code it kind of scares me for the future of STO. I can't name one system in-game that isn't currently broken. Sad that I feel relieved when there's an Elder Scrolls beta weekend, their beta has less bugs than this four year old game.
Devs: Do an entire game update that just fixes bugs please, Delta Quadrant can wait.
this new feature together with ship swap are going to be a definite time saver, and you can move a lot of your consumables from your inventory to ships you rarely use and when you need a top up a few clicks and your consumables will be moved into your ship and presto your ready to battle again.
a 5 star feature and no mistake.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Deep sigh.
Reclaiming loadouts was referring to getting back slots you bought and added to your ship. Each ship starts with 2 loadouts. Say you bought a pack of 10 from the C-Store, and added 3 of those Loadouts to your one ship, so you have 5 loadouts on your ship, and 7 others from the C Store you can use on other ships. If you discharge that ship, you should go back to having 10 extra loadouts you can assign to other ships.

That may well be true (haven't bought extra slots yet). But my point was, that the very act of discharging a ship totally messes up the assignment of loadout slots to your existing ships. This is probably due to the (insane) manner in which loadouts/trays/boffs, etc, are tied to the 'physical' location of a ship in the list (no one at Cryptic ever heard of a pointer list?!). Once said order gets disrupted/rearranged, all references to loadouts gets screwed up too. In my case (on Tribble) this resulted in loadouts appearing greyed-out upon load (presumably for lack of a previous association with a ship).
Tl;dr: you may get your initial 10 extra slots back, but find the rest inaccessible. Not a very good deal, IMHO.
apparently the devs have never heard the phrase "It's not broke, don't fix it." was this "feature" really in demand? seems like the manpower to create this broken nonsense could have been used for...well FIXING BROKEN STUFF

Well, to be honest. I am LOVING the new Loadouts... when implemented properly. It will save me tons and tons of Dilithium, not getting Borg set copy Nr. 25, or my 9th Plasmonic Leech.
I say this is a good time to fix the 'ship order' issue, as loadouts are tied into that too. When all fixed, the loadout thing might become the next best thing to sliced bread!
Just want to say, this makes everything so much less time consuming and annoying.
Ship swapping, which can take 5-10 minutes to setup as you switch weapons, boff stations and doffs, now takes only a few seconds.
Loadout swapping can take almost just as long (like going from a PvP cannon build to a PvE beam build).
Also I assume this means an end to that old bug where you'd lose your skill tray if you dismissed an earlier ship (as long as you have a loadout saved for that ship.)
Thanks devs!
(PS the only problem with the system is the old bug that wouldn't load all your boffs when you have more than a certain amount)
ty so much lovin this question will we ever be able to click on our character then switch ships like in this list or still go to ship chancer no big deal just curious

Nope still bugged. I dismiss an old ship and the new loadout system won't load the correct skill tray for my current ship. It'll load the the correct equipment, boff and doff setup, but the skill tray is a total mess.
Wish I knew that before I dismissed a ship, now I've got to spend 30 minutes sorting the skill tray out again. Then I've got to redo all the loadouts which will probably me another 15 minutes.

Ah well, I'll know from now on.
Yep. Posted my preliminary findings (on Tribble) earlier in this thread, and found the very same thing.
Honestly, the rigid 'ship order' thingy needs to be finally fixed. It's always been (wilfully?) ignored; but now, with the loadouts, the matter has become accute again.
I cant seem to find an answer on this. How do you reclaim a load out slot on a Lobi, Lockbox, Fleet, or Event ship? Is "dismiss" the same as "delete"?
You can't find the answer, because there is none. Or, rather, you won't like the answer: your lockbox ships et al. will be gone, lost for ever, when you discharge them. As far as Cryptic is concerned, see if they care: you want your ship back? Just buy a new one!
Seriously, this is another area of the loadout system in serious need of a better solution.

So, just to be clear. If you buy more gear load out slots and then apply them to a Lobi, Fleet, Lockbox, or event ship, you CAN NOT get them back? (w/o deleting the ship forever.)
Would be nice if some Dev would chime in a say if this is working as intended. Because, if that is the case. I won't be buying any. I like the idea of the new system. I like the price point of the slots. I like that they are account wide. However, most of my ship are non-reclaimable. This just seems half finished. or designed to cost more for players with end game ships.

Sure why not... Would work nicely for aliens specifically, so I am in for tails and wacky ears for the C-Store.

Well done Cryptic. Well done.
Create your loadouts.
Save.
Repeat.
(Edit as necessary, the Save as)
....
Now your inventory doesn't get mashed. The components switch between your ships from the shipyard.
This is amazing.....

All of my ships are highly role-specialized and there are only a few that will have a toggle for PVP|PVE or special NWS builds. I can wait.
Where we would equip something and it would take a few minutes for it to actually equip:
I was thinking to myself, Won't this make it worse?
Not complaining or anything, as I'm totally lovin this new feature myself.
