The ship looks wonderful and the transforming possibilities are making it an interesting one to fly if you have no access to a better ship.
For me personally this ship is a broken image of the recluse carrier because I am using a Cdr tactical on the recluse and the boffs are same. The difference btw both ships is huge. I lose Reverse Polarity (ltcdr ability engineer) in return of Lt science ability (which i dont need). Plus on the recluse I have 4 frigates stacking pattern beta like busses and you know...5 stacks would help the entire team plus they are using tetryon weapons to drain shields faster. Not to mention the 64k hull and 17k shields on recluse compared to 42k hull and 12k shields on dyson (due to solanae set testing atm).
Sadly, in the moment all sci ships get 2nd deflector slot and new items to place there (not just solanaee version) the dyson ship wont be seen too much around.
(Forcing cannon build due to the dhc is meeh, and if you dont transform and maintain sci mod only due to this fact...then u better get FLRSV or FRSV. Changing to tac mode, and loosing sub targeting and 33.3% damage from 10 stacks of analysis is huge impact for a sci...which role is to control/debuff instead of dps...right?:) )
Well ... I'm not sure what people are complaining about ... I have one on my Sci Rommie, and she loves it! Not only does it look gorgeous (especially with the Reman Shield) but it packs quite a wallop and can easily take a beating without dying ...
And it's a T4 ship not a T5/Fleet ship don't forget ...
I think some people are trying to fly her as an escort, which the ship simply IS NOT ... It's a Science Vessel with teeth ...
I did Starbase Defense yesterday (I know, not exactly difficult, but) and after the first wave, 3 out of the five quit the map, so it was left with me in my Dyson, and the other guy in a D'Dex.
We were able to complete each wave almost before the next spawned, and it was only at the end that I realized I hadn't even set Tac Mode to on!
So even in Tac mode, fly it as a Science Vessel (if you know how) and it's a great ship ... Maybe not the "best" but that term can apply to any ship that you like and performs well for you

Tier 5 is Rear Admiral. It is a Tier 5 ship.
It's not Fleet Quality. But the C-Store pack is supposed to be.
Got the Fed one today, new character designed for it so I'm still working on gearing it up.
Picked up the Romulan version a few days into the event (thank you account bound Lobi), and I love it. Loaded up with fleet consoles and Rom. rep weapons from my engineer's old DD, and it does pretty well in ESTFs and PVE. Being able to throw out drains and disables then kick up it's DPS when needed is very handy. Only "complaint" I have is that it's too fast for my Hyperplasma without the Reman set's effects and the Solanae set's too good a fit for the ship not to use it
So, for those who have it, what are the C-Store Set Bonus abilities?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Decked it up with Destabilizing Tetryon DHCs, the EPW, the Grav torpedo, the FE mission set, and 3 Dyson rep Auto-targeting +Cannon consoles.
It's my most destructive 9-console ship. Not quite as powerful as my Mobius but way more than my MVAE due to the fact it can flip between a science and a tactical build in a flash, instead of being an awkward mish-mash of both all the time.

Hmmm ... been running plasma's because I don't have any rep gear yet (only level 48) but Destab Tets, sounds intrusting ... might hafta give it a try ...
As for me, my OCD kicked in and I ended up grinding this. I like it, but I need to play with different things to see what works best as far as setup and bridge officer abilities.
So, for those who have it, what are the C-Store Set Bonus abilities?
The C-Store set set bonus is -1 minute cooldown reduction on the Console set. And it enchances the abilities of each consoles. You can see them in action in the FE, "Step Between the Stars". It's equipped with all 3 consoles (and at a guess): Proton Barrage (Tactical Variant), Shield Drain (Science Variant), and Shield Regenerator (Cruiser Variant).
i imagine it will the same for most tomorrow. the op has jumped the gun a bit.
well i have been doing it once per day and got my feds yesterday, i lost a day on my klink and rom due to server faults but i just got theirs a few minutes ago.
i will continue to do the event till it end just for the extra stuff though and i will probably keep the qmendation for next time.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Tier 5 has 3 levels: level 40, level 50, and fleet variants. If I had to guess the science destroyer would be a level 40 tier 5.
Pretty much how I view it too, which is why I originally called the Dyson a T4 ship ... Yes "technically" it's a T5, but realistically C-Store and then Fleet ships are T5 and T6 respectively IMO ...
I like the T4.5 designation though ... It kinda' fits as the Dyson does have more tricks than usual ...
I'd quite happily loose the front set of proton cannons, I personally think they're a gimmick too far on that ship. Had they not been there and the slots were more on the normal 3-3 range it would have felt better. I suppose it comes down to the fact there is gear on there I have no control over getting rid off.
Turn rate is a little sluggish, but then I suppose they want you to use the solanae set and also encourage you to get shot at, thereby increasing the turn rate.
But my biggest gripe by far is the fact they've made a ship that's the epitome of a 'jack of all trades and master at none' ship. Cannons off an escort, sensor analysis and subsystem targeting and secondary deflector from a science vessel and the hull and shield modifier closer balanced to those of a cruiser with a awkward turn rate. The only thing missing is a hangar bay.
This means that no matter how you build it, you're never going to truly get this ship up to it's full potential unless you choose to go all one way and barely down the others. As a result I have to say this ship is a bit of a disappointment, less is better in my book. Get rid of the cannons, and the extra weapon slot all together, get rid of some of the crew complement and a device slot and then up the turn by a couple of degrees.
That's what I'd do personally, I'd also lower the hull strength and put the shields up in an ideal world but that bit I'm actually happy to leave, it's not too shabby. Overall though I'll fly it, but I think my Nova will always be number one until they make something better.
Of course, see how the c-store ones turn out...

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.
The 10 console C store versions are basically a Mobius crossed with a Wells layout-wise. Effectively youll have a temporal ship without the temporal bonus to the TIF set.
They are going to be good, solid sci vessels, especially for those of us that already fly sci-scort.
My two sciscort captains are really looking forward to these (especially since both are romulans)
It might actually retire my fleet dhelan on Kailiana. We shall have to see.

Indeed. From my perspective, the Dyson is a Sci-scort that's between the Veteran Ships and the Vesta, where if flown in those ships before, you can handle her similarly. The only real difference is that she isn't as versatile in her BOFF layouts, but is with the Warfare reconfiguration.
And in weapon layouts, shes an ideal Hybrid that's best for a Hybrid weapon build, where you can have full functionality of all weapon systems.
Now we just have to wait for the C-store. I'm sure that's when we get the weapon sets added to it for the full bells and whistles.
I figured the Aves was going to be the most dangerous of the three, but I have to admit, the Drain-specced Nov I have is really growing on me as my favorite of the three. The penalty Warbirds pay in power is quite crippling for a tactical science ship with limited engineering slots.
Conversely, I'm able to run my Nov with almost full power to all subsystems, and could probably cap them all if I ran Energy Siphon instead of Tyken. Polaran DHCs at rapid fire with Tyken's 3 and all that room for Flow Capacitors is a very, very deadly mix that completely shuts ships down in a single volley(shields, weapons, engines, all of it).
I am seriously considering going for the Klingon C-store bundle(yay more money for KDF development!) when it comes out, but I'm still going to wait until I have a chance to try out my Particle-gen based Solanae and what the actual variants looks like first.
I picked mine up yesterday. It was not worth the grind. I'm still playing with it but most likely it will become a storage ship.
As a Sci I'm playing around with different full Aux builds. I've tried TB and ES powers on it. I'd love to see a Lt Commander Sci seat instead of the current Lt. seat. The permanent (non-removable) weapon powered weapon has been a build-killer for me. Running multiple copies of ES helps keep power levels up but not enough to justify keeping a part-time permanent weapon, especially since my weapon power is run at minimum.
At this moment I'm not using 2 of the ships slots, a 4th Tact Boff and the permanent weapon so I'm not inclined to use this ship at all.
As of right now, the secondary deflector is neat, I wish I could transfer it to another science ship at this moment. That said, while it is neat it is only a rare item and will be eclipsed by rare's and very rare's in time.
Since Cryptic is less likely to change the BO seating arrangement, I'd suggest making the weapon a unique removable item only usable on the ship.

Has the BOFF layout for the c-store versions been released? Did I miss something? Or is this just conjecture?
I think the only thing we can know about the boff layout of the c-store ship is that it's likely to have a commander sci/lt commander tac hard wired so that when tactical mode is active you get the commander tac/lt commander sci.
Overall, the science destroyers aren't bad (although I do hate the way we had to grind for a "free" ship ... that REALLY made me mad at the powers that be in charge of STO).
Still, there are a few things that the devs would have to change if they want me to spend money on the C-Store versions of these ships:
1) The cooldown for switching back and forth between science and destroyer/tactical mode needs to be removed completely or just reduced to a maximum of 10 seconds.
2) There needs to be an option for standard windows ... those light blue/turquoise windows are UGLY.
3) The engine trails for the warp nacelles and impulse engines need to have a toggle so the bright purple dyson visuals don't appear. Those purple trails/exhaust just don't look right on any faction ship FED, KDF, or ROM.
Keep in mind that I own EVERY ship available for EVERY faction (I'm a crazy collector of ships who drops stupid amounts of cash in this game). If someone like me is saying the three things listed above are enough to make me NOT buy the science destroyer packs then the devs might want to at least consider why they wouldn't be willing to make these changes.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Got mine today thanks to the free lobi. See ARC does have it's uses lol :P

I'll have it for my other 3 toons before the event ends.
For free stuff yeah, but I wont be putting it on any of my main pc's.
It will stay isolated on a VM for the freebies.
