And don't forget the "to be continued" at the end either. If that was just part of a storyline how the heck are they gonna surpass part one.
That FE will and must go done as one of STO's finest moments.
STO gets a massive round of applause from me.
It would have been, but can we REALLY award The Best Mission ever to an ep that takes you OUT of your own ship when the action comes, and puts you into the latest ship they want you to test drive and go buy? For that reason, I must disqualify it as THE best. Without the bait and switch move, then yes, it was the best ep so far.
Cryptic, enough now. No more car lot test drive missions. Stop taking MY ship out of the star role in these missions. Its getting REALLY old now. I havnt and wont buy any of those test drive ships. I know some will, but Id have to assume most Captains dont like their own ships having to sub out and go to the bench when the Best Cryptic content action scenes start up. WE are the heroes, and OUR ships are too. We are a team, stop separating us.

I hate to be the one raining on someone's parade, but the carebear attitudes here is causing God to go into convulsions.
The story was OK but there was a few lore flaws where the math didn't add up and cannot add up that was discussed in another thread.
What they are excelling at most is getting trek actors to do the voice overs. This adds a level of intense immersion that everyone can relate to and that is their strong point.
However, what the game needs is more story, a story that can be played as a team or multiple teams much like 8.0 was. Those are the stories I'm looking for -- those that have epic multi-player battles at the end that offer risk that is equal to the reward.
Said NO to Arc. Gets punished by not being given a free outfit, free lobi, and free shuttle. Now forced to use Arc's site when trying to get to STO site. Still not rewards for beta testing the Arc website by force. Bravo Cryptic.
First time since I don't know when, but hell that was a good story thank you Cryptic !!!
I really love to see more on this story !!!
Really hope you won't stop here because this is exactly why I play STO to have fun and with these story's I have FUN.
You may want to check out on space suit design it's a bit clumsy to navigate with !!!
Greets :P
I agree 100% loved the story and having a familiar voice was a great touch.
And the biggest issues is the suit nagivation. One burst = 10 bursts to stop...except when it doesn't. One burst = 1 meter of movement, except when it = unlimited movement. Firing jets up...make you sink...except when it doesn't. Very strange. Gravity seems to be a random vector and intensity.
Still aside from the suit, I still liked Step between the Stars...
So now, in addition to channeling Gene for the rest of us heathens, you're also God's personal assistant?
Whenever do you find time to play the game?
I only play assistant when the balance of carebears reaches intolerable levels :P

If it's Teevok's mission, how come I'm the one doing everything?
Well i thought every thing was left up to me was because i out ranked him so as one ep of star trek stated when in a combat situation protocol states the highest rank of officer takes command. This mission is going to be for lvl 50 players when the events over.
Thats my take any way.

Seriously. What was that about Cryptic? I could maneuver the jetpacks on Risa with great accuracy. This should have felt the same more less. If you saw the space inertia coding wasnt working as well, should have scrapped it and used Risa coding.

I just figured the jet unit and suit was getting pretty trashed at that point.
Notice that the jets only fired for a short time even if you keep pressing the control and St. Elmo's Fire kept intermitently flowing over the suit.
Especially as the Undine voice was so whiny, teasing Tuvok to try and provoke an outburst.
Don't forget, "Many have tried, none have succeeded."
To be fair the Undine don't stand a chance of getting Tuvok to react, the poor guy had to put up with Neelix for close to 7 years so any Undine attempt to make him tilt is just going to look amateurish in comparison.

I'm still having issues with Tuvok subverting my orders to keep the dam gateway closed. I wanted to kill that little pipsqueak the moment I saw his sorry TRIBBLE hiding behind that crate. The fact you don't get the opportunity enraged me :P No where in the story line do you need this sack of cow TRIBBLE like Tuvok says -- you match a few shapes, fuse a few consoles, and viola, station gets shut down. I have moral issues with this character that most people that's been in IRL battle understands -- if you're not willing to fight for the air you breath, you don't deserve it. How I loathe cowards like that -- and yes I realize what he was and the role he was playing, but I could have gotten along better with an Undine than that pipsqueak.

You are wrong there.
It is mentioned in A Step Between Stars that the Jenolan Sphere disappeared when the network was reset to safe New Romulus.
As mentioned earlier, this contradicts a pre S8 blog.
Heh, thanks. :P
Well, apparently Cryptic has a slight problem with continuity (not that it changes the story, though).
I'm just curious how the devs will handle the new status quo. The Alliance fighting the Voth all fighting the Undine.
Given how FEDs are at war with the Empire, yet they collaborate against Borg, Voth, Elachi, Tal Shiar, ... it wouldn't be much of a stretch to have the Voth allied with us against the Undine while still fighting us in the Solanae sphere. :P
It's definitely getting hard to keep track of different factions (I hope the devs know where they're going).
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Well, as I really don't feel like re-reading all the blogs since pre-Sphere of Influence release, I'll take that as correct.
All that would change is the Undine had even more time planning and studying as I don't think it's been mentioned specifically thas us resetting the gateway network was the reason for the Jenolan disappearance (correct me if I'm wrong here). It simply must have been one of the presumed Iconian servitor races that deemed it 'useful' to remove the Jenolan sphere out of Alpha quadrant.
A continuity error in Star Trek?? Say it ain't so, Joe! :P
I didn't saw klingons as bad guys there. Koren (I believe that is kdf captain name) is just representing interests of kdf. She was acting like real klingon, it would have been bad if they all agreed at the same moment. You have to have in mind that they are still at war with federation. We will see how will negotiations go (smoothly or there will be some undine problems) . Can't wait
Great story, hope there will be more FE per year. Thank you for all work you done to make it.
In regards to Koren's behaviour at the end, I think it's best explained by this line:
First time since I don't know when, but hell that was a good story thank you Cryptic !!!
I really love to see more on this story !!!
Really hope you won't stop here because this is exactly why I play STO to have fun and with these story's I have FUN.

Greets :P
all he said and more, plus tim russ is a really nice guy and an awesome actor.
tip: when using the space suit press b to get shooter mode then point the target in the direction you wish to travel, this is the method I used with the jet pack on risa, only problem is you have also got the lack of gravity that makes it a little more finicky but you want a real life experience, now you know how hard it is to maneuver in space with no gravity its not something you will get the hang of over night.
hell ive been living with gravity all my life and I still come unstuck with that sometimes, just think how long it will take to get used to having gravity removed.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Wow. What a great, fun, well done story!! Kudos, Cryptic. You hit it out of the park with this one!!!! Tuvok was amazing. Very cool. Top notch production, from the VO to the visuals. The Enviromental Suit reminds me of Daft Punk! I had so much fun playing this the first time. Please, keep them coming!
And don't forget the "to be continued" at the end either. If that was just part of a storyline how the heck are they gonna surpass part one.
That FE will and must go done as one of STO's finest moments.
STO gets a massive round of applause from me.
if you think about it its been one big long "to be continued" since Season Seven: New Romulus was released on November 13, 2012
the story has moved on from the discovery of the iconian gateway on new rom onto the dyson sphere now on into the next sphere and to follow hopefully beyond the sphere and into the delta quadrant.
I think the story tellers who envisioned this deserve an Oscar for their imagination and I cant wait to see where the story continues.
this as a whole is equally on a par with any of the big budget trek movies and we get to play the lead role.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I don't know if the story was fun, english isnt my main and I usually skip text and cutscene and go straight for the gameplay. In that matter, well... Was ****.
Nah.... wasn't a case of liking, you guys most def surpassed yourselves with this one. If this is the route for STO in 2014 all I have is one word ..... WOW
Now Cryptic needs to get Robert Picardo and Jeri Ryan to come in has the Doctor and Seven to help create a way to detect Undine infiltrators in the next FE.
The climax could be that once their detection method is finished that it's revealed that J'mpok or at the very least one of his top advisors was in fact an Undine infiltrator.
The above could help the Feds save a bit of face and show the Klingons that even they were not completely safe from the Undine.
The road for peace between the KDF and the Federation will begin to be paved.
This is a very good idea imho.
I don't like J'mpok one bit. To me he's not a good klingon leader, but just a dumb, warmongering brute.
And I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the only one who misses Martok and kinda dislikes the current STO version of the Klingons.
Martok and Worf - those were/are real warriors, bold, proud and considerate. Hell, even Gowron was more likeable than J'mpok..
Just how many players were put off and don't play KDF because the Klingons are depicted as a bunch of triggerhappy, bravado spouting morons?
I mean, yeah, to a degree this is what makes a Klingon, but not in this magnitude.
(PS: I do play KDF. But I support Worf and stay clear of J'mpok'ish attitude.)
Thank you for being one person who has the capacity to post something positive.
It is a really fantastic episode.
that's not quite true, I have seen many people praise this episode, I myself being one of them.
it may be you mean there is no other player who has created a specific thread to do so but I have seen loads of posts saying how good it is within other threads.
especially ones mentioning how the story changes depending on what choices you make that is completely new to sto.
having said that I don't know what kirk2390 is on about starting his posting "First time since I don't know when,"
did he not play the mission Sphere of Influence, featuring Michael dorn as worf, that was not that long ago and was also praised for being prity awesome.
actually Sphere of Influence went live on 31 Oct 2013 so only about 4 months ago.
and what about Temporal Ambassador featuring Denise Crosby also a prity awesome episode only 1 year ago.
personally I would rather have one or two really good missions like these a year then loads of mediocre missions that you play through in no time flat.
I also like how all these story's are linking together to make an on going series, you had the cut scenes and missions from the romulan rep which culminated in the finding of the gateway on new rom, then you had Sphere of Influence where you stepped through the gateway and ended up in the first Sphere, then you have the cut scenes from the dyson rep that brought you to the point where you get the mission a step between stars culminating in finding the second sphere, im eager to see what happens next.
I don't know who wrote this story line but if you play through it in the correct order it is comparable to a star trek noval.

STO never cases to amaze me. They always seem to be one of the few MMO's which really goes all out for content rather than profit.
Love the new episode, great job guys
I quite agree with your comment there, its a pity other players who complain about them only being interested in lining their own pockets cant see that.
personally as a ftp mmo I think sto is second to none.
especially when you consider that about the only thing you cant get for free by converting dilithium is a lifetime or monthly sub I happen to think they are the greatest and the most generous game makers ever.

No not that turn son, then it would be like DS9 where they think it's the Chancellor and they discover Martok was the shape shifter that would not be good...
OR MUCH better than J'mpok:
WORF.
Meaning the Undine are responsible for the reopening of all the gateways and moving the jenolan sphere to where they needed it. This would also fit with the Undine too being manipulated by the Iconians (as well as explaining Michael Dorn's less than perfect voice over work).
Plus a mission where we rescue Worf from an Undine prison would be badass.
I'll say this because I'm not sure from previous posts people noticed it.
The Jenolan Sphere jumped to where it is now right when we discovered the Solanae Sphere. Which is a couple months back in game (or at least weeks, the Gold was depleting resources).
Apparently, the Jenolan sphere ended up close to Undine infested territory. When they realised it, they sent the 'NOT Doc Cooper' to study the Solanae sphere. He discovered he could make a connection between both spheres --> fast and easy travel for whole squadrons.
And here we are.
.
I recently replayed Sphere of Influence. Guess who I found working to get the gateway back online? None other than Dr Cooper himself. Well played Cryptic. It seems pretty clear the Undine knew they needed to find a gateway to access the spheres.
