I know this post will have a lot of hate to it ! So here goes , Get rid of the ice boots they have no reason to be in the game after the winter event and it pretty much makes having a tac with motion acc. pointless. PWE has made most winter summer event items dormant after the event ends so why not this item. It is pointless annoying and quite frankly has no place in sto ! Bring on the hate:)
I love them, and they're fun. Motion accelerator works in combat, too.
Zinc: The universe of Star Trek Online is shaped and changed by the actions of the players...expect to see new planets and races discovered that were unknown the last time you logged in."
I actually went and bought a pair today. I'd ignored them as trinkets originally, but after lagging behind those who had them in dozens of Dyson ground fighting events, I realized I needed them just to keep up.
If they are going to let us use the ice boots then I want the jet pack from summer event and the guns from the winter event and anything else that is no longer useable because the event is over. Ice boots need to go away period. I also have the boots , so this isn't because I don't have them!

Motion acc is useless for the speed boost, the only thing its good for is breaking holds and even then its cd is a tad long.
TL;DR Long live the frosted boots, they are a god send in the dyson battlezone
I have them as well, but I think it seems/looks silly to be running around the Dyson Battleground with them and therefor don't use them. Sure, other people zip by with them on - good for them; we're both enjoying the game the way we prefer it.

If there was a less silly way to speed myself up in the zone I'd be all over it. But until that day comes boots it is.

Why dont you quite then...and can i haz ur stuffs?
Frosted Boots are the perfect solution to a game that is highly unlikely to ever introduce mounts or vehicles unless a map is introduced to allow vehicles or mounts to work only at that location.
Yeah, running long distances once is doable, running the long distances twice, not so fun. Hence I love my frosty boots. Help me reduce running madness.
I joined the game just after Winter Event and I had to live whole year without frosty boots. Now I finally got them. And I tell you this: you'd have to pry them from my cold dead hands, err. feets

Going bit off on a tangent here...
Summer event and jetpack is such unique location, jetpack is a kind of mount.
Now thinking of rigged swarmer in battlezone, which you could mount there ... that would be cool, and you could fly over the chasm between park and outskirts for example, without need to go through the central hub.

Immersion kills fun. You want immersion, go play Bridge Commander. I for one love to run/slid sideways.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Not to be a smart butt here, but how does other players using something that makes them run faster than you like to go ruin your game?
The jet packs, I didn't get a chance to get them. However, if it were possible for others to use it outside Risa, I would be more then happy to let them use it.
After I got the snow boots, I fell in love with them. In fact, I pop'd them on when I went into the Battle Zone the first time. Even before seeing anyone else doing it, I realized it would help cover the large distances. It has also helped to make it to areas that were about to be taken back over, by the Voth. (Unlike people that collect the things needed to call in reinforcements, and will not use them, the boots have no negative effects.)
With a small group of 4 players, we could clear a map in the Zone in half the time with the boots. So, players that use them, they help all the players to progress faster in some missions.
They don't hurt anything at all.
Leader of Elite Guardian Academy.Would you like to learn how to run a fleet? Would you like to know how to do ship builds (true budget as well as high end)? The join the Academy today!
Alien ships in orbit at ESD don't even get me to blink. Now if I warped in to a bunch of galaxy class ships or intrepid class I would start to wonder
I'm just glad I'm not a brand new player fresh out of the tutorial, imagine what they must think when warping into ESD for the very first time and seeing all of these giant enemy ships occupying the space around your homeworld. :P

I have a better solution. Delete all of your characters.
I was sick of other players running past me. Love the boots. Before the winter event I even created a couple of new toons I thought I would use later in the year, only to get them the boots.
Yeah it's a bit weird, but so is ground combat firing weapons at each other at point blank range.

LOL have been playing for 4 years and you wouldn't have the room for all my stuff !
Maybe it's not the stuff taking all the room, but the ego. :P
We're flying Breen ships and borg-ified Tal Shiar designs while fighting dinosaurs with frickin' laser beams on their heads. Frosted boots are probably among the least silly things going on. Get over it.
One cool thing about the new event rep is that you can acquire the items after the event is over. If you unlock the store for the event... which characters created after the event don't have. But still, it means that you can get your frosted boots at any time, as long as you have the holiday trinkets to buy them, and those can be bought on exchange.

Some days I log in and think there's a Breen/Voth blockade at ESD. I guess Hirogen coming soon, too.
"Shields up, red alert! Oh...belay that, it's just the Chel Grett cruiser U.S.S. Louisiana."
On topic: We're fighting dinosaurs with lasers on their heads. Pretend you just activated your frictionless boots. Done.

well you have them, jets you can use on rise, and guns, well tough luck that they only work in side event, or do they...
Did the same
