Well all I can say is get your popcorn ready. With the rate of whining, ranting, and overall discontent, can you imagine what we will have on the weekend? BUCKLE UP!!
Psst - English is the only allowed language on these forums...
This is basically a hint to go back and edit your posts before I get to them

Hi Captains! We've got an ETA to share. We're looking at about 50 minutes (give/ take a few) before we get you back in. Thanks for the support.
Cheers,

Might one inquire, what sort of technicians Cryptic has on their payroll? This sort of thing happens EVERY major update. What happened to all those shiny "Server stability fixes" and what not?
This is most likely a software issue, probably caused by the update not being tested properly on the workload on "full throttle", especially if many people are accessing the new content (the mission on the star) simultaneously. Tribble might be able to provide SOME experience, but that is far from an actual simulation of the full workload because not many people are online.
The guys from EVE online had the following solution:
"Mass tests"
These were held on "singularity" (that is EVE Online's test server) and each participant received 2 million skill point to allocate on the test server, allowing the player to safely try out stuff on the test server.
Solution for Star trek online:
Hold something similar where lots of player participate and are supposed to access specific content (on the test server) to see how many players accessing content ACTUALLY affects the servers. This gives a lot better information than some internal testing.
Rewards for participation?
Dunno, doesn't have to be something big.
For example Dil, marks of your choosing, something like that.
It is a win-win solution.
Mass tests improve the general performance of new content upon release day, people will like it more and are more likely to spend Zen every now and then. Also, if something goes wrong during the mass test, it is a lot easier to fix it than to do it post-release like now
Oh yeah cause of course many MMOs dont have issues with their larger content patches... oh hmm nm
Actually there are several that do not have these types of down times after content updates and a lot are from PWE just seems the Cryptic part of PWE is falling down on the job here.
And every single time there are crashes and massive bugs to be fixed.
Do you people think you will every get it right the first time anywhere in the future or do we all have to wait for your more competent replacement to take over?
problem is im unable to be near a pc for most of the month, no hard feelings or anything. im sure they are doing their best.
I feel like at this point, we should at least be treated to a cute little screen of 2 targs having a tug of war with some frayed cables pulled out of a smoking server box, while Scotty stands over them facepalm-ing and elevator music in the background, with a caption that reads "Technical difficulties-- We're giving her all she's got, captain!'
SECONDED! Would be a change to eternal login screens.

Relax people.. Geez. They finally give us something we've been wanting for years and it looks more like a shallow pool of piranha while they tailor the update.

The difference between Fallout: New Vegas and Star Trek Online?
