Actually DHC can work pretty good, you can still get a pretty decent crit rate with a romulan boff and 2 spire tac consoles which fighters can slot, 1 crit from a DHC wipes out their shield and most hull, the second hit will usually kill them at that point, then since nothing is on cooldown you are free to continue shooting your next target.

You are thinking to much like a big ship, you need to think more like a little ship.
Fun so far, you really just need to go in realizing you are going to die. I've had like 6 matches and they have all been fast with scores like 15-8ish.

I wish all pvp was like that really. Close, fast matches would be fun.
More and more are battlecloaking it up, but tbh, things like the Nibus and tetryon lettuce are far more powerful than specific ships or professions (except tac)
All these Support Fleets and other abilities that spawn ships make shuttle pvp maybe horrible.
That needs to be adressed too...
Yep, craziness.
All clicky-consoles are going to need to be rescaled. Nimbus Pirates spawn in at full strength.
I loaded up GPG, Iso and SIC on a Sci in a Delta Flier with Sci Team and BO1. Throw in a Tet Cascade and Sensor Scan, and well, got 3 kills on my first attack.
Thats it ! That needs to be adressed. Thats killing shuttle pvp. And it should be about real shuttle-pvp-balancing
I agree, I've been saying that cheese would be an issue in shuttle pew since they announced it. Loaded up on it myself to see if it was as bad as I thought it could be. It was.

Cheese is the answer. Cheese it up.
Maybe it will bring about some balance passes, but at worst it will be fun to decloak ISO-vape a whole team of shuttles from a Rom Scorpion.

Its more fun without cheese and still doable. I only got to do 4 matches before being server went off today but did pretty good with just DHC, my consoles were 2 spire crit tac consoles and a dil mine eng console. Lots of fun dogfights if everyone plays in fighters like this and you don't need to wait for your consoles cooldowns to get kills.

I think his point is that there will always be people who do it to gain an advantage. If enough of us cheese it up Cryptic might do something about it.
I think in shuttle-pvp it will be very clear (compared to the other arena) how balancing and certain skills/consoles/traits/passives come to their functionality and wanted and not wanted synergies..
Maybe shuttle pvp is a good way to determine whats working and what not, and maybe how this could work in Big arena ! Some day...

yeah, I was in a few matches against some pandas before the third server crash. I totally got what you were all doing. It was a lot of fun but those ISOs really do hurt. I think I even saw horizon using TIF at the end lol. Good times.
the stupidest thing is nimbus pirate and fleet support, because....really? no one thought of that? lol It's like dumping a citadel ship in the middle of an arena match with a tractor beam of doom lol.
I dunno, I think cheese is probably the essence of Shuttle PvP right there. It's not really a problem if EVERYONE does it. It's not meant to be starship combat. It's about fast kills, fast deaths, and if you load up on long-CD cheese, you might not be able to make enough people dead before they make you dead.

Very true, I was extremely vulnerable after I unloaded. Nothing left but a sci team and a rommie cloak. Died a few times myself too. Still though, If I can trade 3 kills for 1 death, it's a net gain.
It hasn't even been 2 days and people have already found horrible flaws with shuttle pvp.
I think many of us posted that this was going to happen the day the patch notes went up for tribble. It really only took a little thinking to figure out what was going to happen. I honestly don't understand how Cryptic came to the conclusion that PDS was the only console that was going to be problematic.

I think the guys are just not taking it too seriously.
Besides, once you remove nearly all of the functionality of a ship down to the point where even console slots for base functionality (Tac +Damage, or Eng +Res) are irrelevant - what else are you going to fill those spaces with than the toys that Cryptic heavily monetizes?
For all we know one of Shuttle PvP's sub-goals could be to help incentivize consoles due to how restricted "builds" are - if you can even go so far as to call them a build.
Shuttles have cheese built into their base sales point, with things like the Yellowstone coming with Tetryon Warp Plasma Engine clicky, or Temporal Shuttle Disruptor Beam Deflector, etc.
You don't even need a whole set to access the powers, you can add a clicky ability to nearly ever single item slot.

The truth, in a nutshell.
I think the PDS got called out because it's one of the few (or the only?* one that has the word "shuttle" or "small craft" in its power description. :P
I know a tac can boost ISO and a lot of other aoe powers and science can SS + TS for some great damage but...
Are engineers king of shuttle pvp?
you get 2 self heals and EPS that gets Synergy Amp going (acts like eptw1). I don't think they're OP at all. I'm still dying, but man, it's going well.
well, maybe they're just competitive Either way, I'm having a great time
