I just wanted to thank the devs for adding this and giving us some real use for our shuttles/fighters. My Toduj, Scorpion, Peregrine, and Yellowstone were gathering dust, but I'm having a blast in them so far.
Main thing I like about it is its fast paced dogfighting, something that regular PVP has been lacking sometimes with so much FAW around so its a nice change of pace. If you haven't tried it yet give it a try, its great fun. Also with less console slots and no high rank boff abilities there is much less spam, no being scrambled for 30 seconds, no being hit with VM doffs, less subpsace and ams consoles bleing used. Nice to be able to play a match like this after playing a regular one with endless spam.
Cant get into game....is this in the pvp que now or elsewhere? Wish they had something similar for TOS era ships.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." - Rocky Balboa (2006)
Yes it is lot of fun .I intend to play it on all my chars with different shuttle's
"There already is a Borg faction, its called the Federation. They assimilate everyone else's technology and remove any biological or technical distinctiveness and add it to their own."

Yes. Id also like to try that because its something different and hopefully a little bit more related to fun than this serious Ego-Battle Arena sometimes is...;)
So, what kind of Teamsetups are all going to try ?
5x tractor ?
I hope there will be some good options to do different things in teams because we all are restricted to one or two ensigns !
Hope it wont be a thing like "two viable teamsetups" that make it !
Well the ships with innate tractor are good as you can use it for control or setting up alpha strikes, but I have been using the Toduj fighter myself, both it and the Feds Peregrine get innate cannon rapid fire 1 instead. Its working pretty good for me using that with 2 DHC.
There are other options too, you could use the Delta flier, instead of an innate ability it gets a ensign sci boff and a ensign universal. The captains yacht gets innate epts instead. Or the Stalker fighter is mostly invisible unless close by. Also don't forget the lobi shuttles either, they all have nice abilities and they still are for now at reasonable prices on the exchange, but that may change soon if this pvp gets popular.
Lets say, your facing a heavy tractor-beam-team. Youll want to fly with PH. So one ensign is gone.
Will it all be about speed, hold or firepower ?
I just hope it will be a playground with enough options to succeed. If it turns out that you cant do much beside some builds that work in teams, this arena will be dead soon. I?d really like to not see that happen !

The best way to prevent that, and the best way to make shuttle PvP fun, imo, is to just give us a set of Shuttle Only gear and make everything else unequipable on small craft. It's never made sense to me that Starship Gear can fit on a shuttle. I can pretty much guarantee that my Avenger's Warp Core wouldn't fit in a Yellowstone, let alone a Type-F.
Well I am seeing a little of everything so far, we will have to wait and see if it becomes a problem with premades all spamming the same thing or not. I guess if they are all running tractors then thats less healing they could have had if they were using delta fliers with 2 heals instead or less firepower then a Toduj, so there is a tradeoff, not sure yet if it will be a problem, we will see where it goes.

That really would make a big difference and could be very interesting. Some new options for shuttle-technology-synergies would be something that made shuttle pvp an own experience and not just the small brother of normal arena !
Looking forward to that....if that may happen ? :-)
i can see that tetryon plasma thing getting old p fast.
It was fun though, things just seemed to die at a consistent and reasonable rate. May be a v fast way of grinding dilithium if the queues continue to pop often.
That was a good first step, sets a good precedent.
I'm honestly worried about things like Subspace Integration, GPG, Iso and Tet Cascade combos, mixed with say a Beam Overload. Hold 'em, Blind 'Em, Damage the whole team and deliver the final blow to your target while the rest of the team is busy healing themselves (if they can with only 1 boff ability)
Thats something i was thinking about, sitting on my rom tac in a scorpion and coming out of cloak for Tet Cascade, Tet Luttice, Iso and maybe an overload, then disappearing with epte !

Pretty much what I'm hoping for. New toys to play with instead of just packing the deadliest or most annoying ones you have for your starships onto a shuttle that wasn't intended to handle them. Again, why can I put regular Torpedoes on a shuttle? Where does it store them? Are they replicated on the fly? Maybe they're just holographic.
Make the shuttle experience something new and interesting.
I think it will only interest me if you can also bring Tuffli's and Sulibans and other 'social' ships which abrely have any firepower, that would be even more fun.

That so feels like old skool
Good idea, this would be fair and make things fun. It would make a good tank/healer ship and anchor of the team. Maybe they could revamp these ships a little and give them a innate ability too.
Heres what wasn't thought out, Shuttle PvP. There are way too many consoles/missiles/whatever that just completely destroy a target in under 2 seconds.
Shuttle PvP will turn into beam overload fest, with tac captains having the stacking advantage as usual
I did that with a danube using the innate tractor to set up for a BO then firing a torp after in an in fleet all shuttle tournament in my Fed fleet, it works pretty good. Today I was just using a more basic 2 DHC build, and shuttle hit points are so low it cuts through them pretty quick too when using tac buffs. For the most part a few hits from any buffed up attack will kill shuttles pretty quick, but I like the fast paced nature of this combat sometimes as a change of pace and you have to rely more on reacting quickly to potential attacks and outmanuvering them before it hits you. A ship with innate tractor like a danube can't cloak so you can see them coming and be ready.

There is a tradeoff in the sense that shuttles only have very limited console, weapon, and device slots. If you take them all up with 1 shot type of weapons they have very long cooldowns and if the attack fails you are at the mercy of your would be victim so building like that is very high risk/high reward. My build on the other hand can constantly get kills using DHC fire without waiting for cooldowns and even without using CRF it only takes me a few seconds longer so while I have already been killed by those kind of attacks, there are times when it fails then the attacker doesn't have the firepower to match you in a dogfight then dies.

"high Risk" I just learned that they nerfed some things on shuttles according to a friend. But I recently shuttle PvPed so I don't know what has changed. Lets assume everything is basically the same.
That high risk you speak of, is very low risk. A loss of a console slot is like nothing to a shuttle and DHCs on a shuttle is a bad idea.

Its a new pvp queue event, like arena but only small craft and is cross faction which is also great.

yeah
at least they altered the point defense console
maybe they'll do it to others if it gets bad

Maybe this would also give us an option for some new bridge officer powers ? Only related to shuttles ?
