Scheduled Maintenance (January 30, 2014) - The Launch of Season 8.5 [Complete!]

Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, January 30th, at 6AM PST (click here to view in your timezone) for our weekly scheduled maintenance and to apply the Season 8.5 patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to only last for 4 hours. The test server, launcher and access to manage your account may also be unavailable during some portions of the maintenance.

For information about Season 8.5, check out these Dev Blogs.

Reminder! As tomorrow is patch/ maintenance day, it would be best to claim your Day 3 Giveaway items well before maintenance starts so you don't miss out!

    So I assume all the bugs in the revamped Klingon War-arc have been dealt with without even ONE more push to Tribble? ... ... ... ... ...

    Ohhh... Time for one of these:
    • Random rage
    • Ask why there is a patch when there was already pre-patch
    • More Random rage
    • Demand for compensation for "lost time"
    • Point out how WoW and EvE never have this much downtime
    • Complaint that "all this" should have been part of original Season 8 release
    • Complaint that there wasn't enough time to get the accolades from the old missions
    • More Random rage
    • ... And again
    • Wild claims that the Devs should be fired
    • DOOOM
    • Epic antigrind complaints with no reasoning.

    What did I forget?

    (The ones I originally forgot in Orange)

    Oh... I actually agree with the "no grind" statement, but I am sure people will push it out of proportions... added pr request.

    I see the pre-patching is already going. Which is good, as it'll mean I'll be almost good to go when I get home from work tomorrow.

    Only I usually get home from work at the same time the servers go down for maintenence, lol.

    Hey Brandon why no Dev Blog on the changes to the Hourly event calendar being removed and what we can expect with the Weekend events and what happens to the rest that are being made Daily's ?

    My Apologies if its covered in the Patch Notes but inquiring minds want to know as for many of us the Hourly Mark Bonus events were a time of great social interaction and Mirror is the only way (At least for most) to level that 4th or 5th Toon :)

    Edit:- to explain Mirror being the preferred Option as although the Episode missions are great the First or second time through but get Old fast as there is not many ways to do them other than liner :)

    Yes more info if you have it please... I guess there is probably a blog planned since we haven't seen the 20+ you have made yet. I use mirror for level 50 xp and starbase stuff.

    What time before 6 AM do you guys put out the free rewards of that day?


    This kind of sounds like you're expecting it to break the game again, and to be honest, with everything that is still broken, it seems very likely.

    Have the Devs been listening to the feedback about the Anniversary event?

    Will you guys ever make the Borg skins full body for the people that bought the LTS'? It's kind of aggravating that people are paying that much, and can't even get a full skin for it.



    I'm serious about that second question though, because i would like to claim any freebies before any possible game breakage. Also, i look forward to seeing the patch notes for everything that is included in the season 8.5 update.

    Wraith, today is Day 3. The daily freebies (a lvl 10 Fed ship, and a lvl 20 Klink ship) are currently free in the C-store. Since that's scheduled to end at 10am PST tomorrow, and since the maintenance is scheduled to overlap with that, Bran's recommending that everyone collect their ships before the maintenance starts at 6am PST.

    Looks like you got them all. Oh, wait. You did forget a few.
    • Snotty comment post reminding everyone else, again, about how much money I've spent on this game. Which means the Devs should do what I ask immediately.
    • Ragepost complaining about no T5 Connie being part of Season 8.5
    • Ragepost complaining about no battlecloak for Feds being part of Season 8.5
    • Ragepost raging against the previously listed rageposts.
    • Trollpost (such as this one right here) mocking previously listed rageposts.

    You forgot the Dilithium/Zen raging :D

    Can't believe you forgot it actually, the rage about the cost of things that are only optional at the end of the day or even unnecessary for gaming happiness ;)

    So far that would look to be the trust and good will of the player base.
