Odd Texture Issues Appeared Today

So I run STO on a couple of different partitions on the same machine (one Mac, one Windows 7) and have had a few weird graphical issues today.

The first was in PVP where I noticed some power effects came out very basic, mostly squares and the like - I've seen this before so didn't think much of it, and as I was on my Mac partition thought little of it - beta and all...

But when I booted into Windows I noticed that I was getting black patches of skin, on myself and other Player Characters, did a reboot through came back and all was fine, then after a zone all my human-esque skin came in blue.

Anyone got any ideas? Might go away tomorrow, but I just thought it worth enquiring just in case.

Yep, you have the missing/simple textures bug now.

The power effects coming out as simple squares and the black skin is a giveaway. Both symptoms of the texture bug. Relogging will keep it away temporarily, but other than that there is no permanent fix. A whole bunch of us have had this since S8 launched. Welcome to the club I guess lol.

Whoo I always wanted to be in a club :D

Before I trawl 28 pages of the other thread (I'll do that after work!) is it account based or machine based?

Right now it seems to be machine based. Several people in the main thread have switched to other machines and had no problems. The large amount of different machines affected though makes this bug rather weird. It doesn't seem to target any specific setup. Some (like me) have lower end machines and get this, while others have top end rigs and still get it.

As of right now, the only thing that we know is that exiting to desktop and relaunching temporarily fixes it. Last word from the devs was that they were still investigating it but couldn't reproduce it. That was about a month ago. So who knows at this point what's going on with it.

Turning off my AMD Overdrive (Overclock feature) fixed the issue for me.

For me it did nothing. But it would be strange if it was the solution, as the problem is not exclusively on AMD/ATI cards.
