This is an unwanted fad that will quickly fade into obscurity. Shuttle missions are painful to wait for and not very rewarding on PvE yet alone on a PvP match (is that Dil reward going to be in the thousands? - doubt it).
Dedicated Small Craft? Are you kidding? I had to 'depressurize' my shuttlebay/Delete those ages ago to make room for ships that mattered. Sure you're giving us the option for more ships slots, but I'm STILL unclear as to how many, or if they're going to be free (which I also doubt).
Can we just have new PvP maps/payouts/maybe a different mode? Or finish stuff promised (BoP flank bonus for eg), please. Or better - can you please just set up PvP so I can host a match with OPTIONS like "Shuttles Only" or "BoPs Only" or "Cruisers Only" or "All Ships Welcome". Lack of these basic multiplayer choices (on an MMO of all things) is why PvP fails in popularity.
the pvp wrapers reward 1440 dil every 3 matches. theres even 'dailys' that cycle randomly that offer that same amount of dil, and 50 fleet marks on top of that. the rewards for pvp arent that bad.
shuttle pvp will be infinity more interesting then shuttle pve.
This looks like a great deal of fun, snd the perfect place to play with my Rozenkho temporal shuttle, as well as the various z-store and veteran shuttles I have. May even buy a Scorpion now.
What would be really awesome is eventually getting a map for the badlands or sone nebula even.

Sry guys, but why only one map? And why Craked Planetoid? There are some sprcial Shuttle-Maps like "Operation Gamme", "Vault", "Atmosphere Assault" and so on. Why we doesn't get this maps? Craked Planetoid are boring and not funny.
balance doesnt come into play in pve. you shoot nearly helpless balls of hitpoints called npcs, that dont fight you on your own terms like another player would. of course there would be no balance adjustments based on pve. the only time stuff gets outright nerfed tends to be when someone finds a way to use it as an exploit in pve, like tric mines 1 shooting STF gates. everyone weighed in to the discussion regarding some EPt skills getting buffed. pvp'ers did lobby most for there not being built in downtime wile cycling these skills though, so you can keep them on all the time. that black subspace console at the same time got nerfed in pvp, wile it got buffed for pve. the game has only been improved by balance passes like these.
are you really trying to compare, as if they are even, the only pvp development since launch to everything added to pve since launch? shuttle ques and kar'rat spawn point adjustments, to 8 and a half season of pve content additions? the only one you should punch for being a moron is yourself.
Stop being so butthurt. Really. There is a very real perception in the game that PvE can't have nice things thanks to the PvP community and your post right there encapsulates the reasons why quite nicely.
You guys think you're completely ignored by the Devs because you've had no new maps or new systems development and completely ignore that there is an entire class of skills (Science) that has little to no utility in PvE outside of healing because of the Devs actually paying attention to your little corner of the STO sandbox.
I don't deny that they could have and should have been putting a bit more effort into developing PvP for no other reason than to make it more accessible to the majority of STO players who aren't interested in the level of dedication (or simply don't have the time to dedicate) that you and your club of elitists require for entry.
As it is you are a bunch of elitist TRIBBLE who view the game through an entirely different lense from the majority of players who primarily play PvE and whose only interaction with PvP is yet another nerf of some cool new feature that makes it all but useless (when not rendering outright useless) for killing those "helpless balls of hitpoints called NPCs" and refuse to even contemplate that the majority of the game's players may not view those same NPCs as being completely helpless just because there's an AI and not a human in the driver's seat.
Wow, I'm not even a PVP player and would surmise the one butthurt is you, not him.
This might make me actually consider PvP on occasion. And the Point Defense change is a perfectly reasonable balance pass change. Heck I'd like to see a lot more consoles adjusted like this for small craft. They really have no place being on them at those power levels. So blaming the change on PvP is really kind of ridiculous. Did it probably get the change to occur sooner? Sure. Was it the sole reason for it? I doubt that.

The PvP community is literally not interested in opening it up to anyone who doesn't want to dedicate their entire STO experience to it. I actually started a thread once giving some of my own ideas on how to do just that and asked for suggestions from them. The response was "Nope, not interested."
It does not help at all that, like the more vocal KDF players they are completely unpleaseable (PvE players of all factions are guilty of this, but those two are the more egregious in my eyes) as nothing short of cutting away everything but their favored parts of the game will in any way come close to pleasing them.
Edit:
As to me being butthurt? I suppose I am a bit, but I'm just sick and tired of PvP players whining about how Cryptic doesn't care about them at all when theirs are pretty much the only voices that are listened to when it comes to balancing and tweaking powers and abilities and then turning around and insulting every non-PvPer who doesn't subscribe to the min-maxer mindset when called on it.
its pretty unprecedented that something having to do with pvp is introduced into the game. though its not an improvement on normal pvp like we have been waiting for, its a leap in the right direction. pvp, at least in a small way, is on the radar. i think at the very least this will draw people to pvp in a way nothing else could, being so approachable and mellow compared to hardcore tier 5 ship pvp. i think just getting comfortable with the concept of pvp will go a long way toward it being more widely accepted, and people giving it more of a chance. instead of swearing it off and going on about how broken and dead it is.
i think small craft cap and hold would be the funnest form of shuttle pvp, i hope that gets added too
I must agree this is a very positive thing.
Getting a dev to look at code related to PvP, and coding is awesome. It's getting in PvP-coding ship IMHO.
I'm also hoping that a whole new era of shuttles is on the horizon
One request: please keep the current PVP ship system in place and add the small craft on top of it. My fleet has, on several occasions, greatly enjoyed running "swarmer" events, where 5 or 6 shuttles and fighters take on one enemy starship (3 starship kills = win, 15 shuttle kills = win). Having "starship only" and "shuttle only" maps that automatically pull in the appropriate size default ship like it sounds like we're moving to would prevent this.

This sort of "Juggernaut"-esque gameplay is really fun. We'll try our best not to remove fun options from private queues as much as possible.

With the ship-swap and loadout systems in place, I imagine you could even make it a supported PvP mode, where the queue randomly selects one player from the queue to be the "Juggernaut" and the rest are the shuttlecraft...
