It's what I do. It's what I just did. It's what I'm about to do again. It's being undisputed emperor of an empire that cannot be disproved as the most powerful intergalactic empire in the entire universe; I always win, and everything I've won will
definitely be won again... by me. It's my signature move, and thus, it's my signature. Problem, Sonic? Yeah, I mean you, Sonic, because you're being beat up, despite your being super. You can't even hit Shadow back, can you? Nope, he's too strong for you. Of course, I'm not Shadow, I'm the Super Emerald fueled fox that's pulling the strings; trust me, the fight would only be a few frames long if I were in it personally. Oh, and here's something for all you guys thinking you can win
Last Post Wins 3.0; trust me, I'll be around a long while after the sun has already consumed the Earth while I sit out with the forum servers on Titan. Yes, I mean Titan... that comparatively little moon orbiting Saturn. It's a nice little place in a version of our solar system where the sun is a lot bigger. I mean, Mars will last longer than your precious Earth, but by then, it'll be one hot planet... and I figure Saturn's moon will be
about the right temperate for a super-powered warlord. Oh, and trust me, I packed
a lot of rings, and I mean a lot. Trillions, in fact, so I'll never run out of rings to power my super form. Besides, if I start to run out, I can just chaos control more rings into my reach. It's quite easy, really. You should try it. Granted, you'll never have the 7 Super Emeralds that I have in my possession, nor the Master Emerald that I've got hidden away somewhere... absorbed into my body thanks to Sonic logic, but whatever. I win. Again. I'm not kidding, either. Just check Last Post Wins, and if the last post isn't mine,
it soon will be. Very, very soon. You can count on it. Seriously. By the way, if you're wondering, there's a really great Super Tails sprite sheet out there... somewhere... by some guy named shadow_91. These sprites are really great. Like, really good. Quality. Just like what I like to see in a sprite sheet. Also, credit to Joe T.E., his Sonic Battle style Super Sonic sprites have a great palette for a Super Sonic being beat up by Super Shadow, who's palette is from a Super Shadow sheet of unknown origin, but it turns out they were "borrowed" from a better sheet made by a certain Domenico. Oh, and the gif is actually a custom made super version of a similar gif, of which there are only 3 or 4 copies to be found by Google, and even then, evidently of an unknown source. Yep, it's one of those things. Stuff people have made, spread around, only for it to vanish and you to be the only person who still has a copy, not even knowing where it came from... like, literally at all. Oh, and anyone notice that Shadow's little chaos snap blast thingies are red and blue now? Yeah, I changed it. Problem, fans of purple? Yeah, I know you got a problem with that one, but you can just deal with it. After all, according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly... alright, alright, I'll spare you the entire Bee Movie script, just Google it if you want. By the way, ever wonder how your characters would've ended up if they evolved in another universe? Yeah, that. Think about it. Ok, so you probably didn't bother reading up to here, but whatever, here's a surprise for you guys over at ESD (RP) who were crazy enough to read this: Emperor Nat of the mcfreakin' Terran Empire is gonna be right all along! The universe is gonna go
BOOM! *Thumbs up to the insanity*

armitage would be my second choice, but i'd just buy the fleet version.
the multi vector kind of lacks behind the free breen cruiser.
I tried getting access to a tier 5 fleet shipyard last summer to do just that. Didn't get me any Fleet Armitages, that was for sure.
Winning.

The other issue with fighters is that if you have to go Full Impulse, they'll get left behind. You can call them back into your hangar, but the command only seems to work sometimes. Sometimes only a few get back inside. And when you hit the command, you have to wait for the ships to fly back to you in the first place. I just didn't enjoy it much, since it slowed me down. My teammates would fly off, and I'd be sitting there trying to shepherd my fighters back in.
Note that my experience is with Elite Scorpions. Runabouts are good pets, too, and tougher. Plus their tractor beams could be a poor man's Gravity Well.
They've improved Multi-Vector mode, so that might be fun to use, sometimes, to get your "pet" fix.
But yeah, those are just my complaints about fighters in general. The Armitage is a perfectly good ship, and like I said, probably technically the better choice.
I don't have any experience with the Andorian ships, though.
If you want more dps, get the Kumari. Nothing else comes close to it, not the MAVE and certainly not the Armitage. Fit threat reducing science consoles, and you'll have no trouble surviving. By the time you pull aggro, all the rats will have been long dead.
Best cannon damage, kumari
Biggest waste of money, Avenger just for the console
Most fun, for me anyway....fleet advanced escort with mvam console
You like cannons, go charal...kumari may have better dps but blowing up isn't all too fun
You like beams on escorts? Armitage hands down
You want more speed and turn rate while popping gws? Advanced Escort
The regular avenger is decent. But when already owning a fleet version and grabbing a c-storw version just for the console...huge waste time

Not that you would fit beams to either, but if you fit a beam kumari, it would outdps a beam armitage.
Cannons for both.
The exception is dual antiproton beam bank Kumari. You fill front with dual beam banks, rear with a 360 degree beam from mission and a borg kinetic beam, both are buffed by antiproton tac consoles, and the former works with beam bo abilities. Put in a mission warp core, and it gives a 2 set bonus of 10% antiproton dmg, which applies on top of total damage after tac consoles and skills. It's a monster. Mind the aggro.:P
Also works with bops, breen raider, and anything with high turn rate and no more than 2 rear weapons.
I've been flying this girl for a while and have been consistently impressed by her. She's incredibly tough, allowing me to get stuck in and survive some blows back, her maneuverability and speed lets me adapt to situations as needed, and the hangar bay has proven to be extremely flexible without having to completely rebuild the ship each time. In scenarios where I need to tie down a ship or delta's for debuffing with their tachyon beams, ect. ect.
She's capable of being a beam platform or cannons forward.
There's a certain sense of pride getting stuck into a fight and then, hanging in there as the smaller raiders have to flee.
Hope this helps!
~Cheers
Not worth using.
Best fed side dps...i think it's plenty worth using...
I'm assuming you meant kumari does the best dps in game vs any other? Ya...that's quite wrong...
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
I was referring to beam fit the escort, as opposed to beam fit a cruiser.
And yes, Kumari does do the best dps, not just among the 3 choices OP listed, but among every single ship available to him.
It is what it is. I fail to see why people feel the need to recommend the ships they own that fits their needs and not read OP's posts for what fits his needs.
OP "wants dps" "don't pvp much" and "prefer to run STFs." So the answer is to get a Kumari, fit dhcs, stack on the spire tac consoles, stack embassy science consoles, and enjoy cube bashing minus the aggro.;)
The kumari may have the best cannon dps, but all that aggro will mean a lot of time looking at a respawn timer
You forget yourself if you think I build for myself and push it onto others...
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
You forgot embassy threat scaling science consoles.
Not to mention beams grab more aggro, for less dmg. It's the opposite of what an escort needs. What you're pushing is a fail beam escort that will grab aggro in a sec and die. Armitage isn't a cruiser, it can't handle the aggro from beam arrays just because it has slightly more eng than most escorts.
Either way, my previous assessments are all the OP needs to make a decision. Question is if he knows and appreciates the builds and help I provide on the forums to be taken seriously
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
If you're referring to faw, there's scatter for cannons. For every parser log of beam spam in mirror event with or without a2b build, I can show you a log of scatter on gravity well at short range that shows far higher dps. Both are irrelevant.
Not to mention what parsers show is how often beam spam hits shields in all directions in an uncontrolled fashion, usually without killing much of anything. And uncontrolled spam hits generators, becoming a liability in STFs.
This is all before even mentioning beam arrays on escorts.
I prefer the beams for a couple of reasons:
1) The ability to remain mobile in encounters increasing my defense, particularly against the Voth, has proven to be extremely valuable.
2)Re-positioning based on emergent events during encounters and being flexible always appeals to me
3)The Armitage isn't maneuverable enough to bring the cannons to bear against some of the more nimble klingon bops ive encountered in kerrat, the beams keep the pressure on.
4) I can do all the above without having to re-build my ship every time I want to try a new facet to the game.
While I'm sure you can say you can do 20k dps wielding cannons with an Armitage, I'd argue that I'm hugely more flexible and durable with my build while still producing high-grade damage.
All beams on autofire and floor it for maximum lulz
Otherwise Armitage for a hangar, Prometheus for much fun (getting one myself soon).
Avenger and andorians are not in my list of things i enjoy.
I am Il Shadow and i approve these Shennanigans!

This thread was specifically written to help people make up their own mind. The ship you will prefer depends a lot of your own style rather than on anybody's advice.
A few questions to guide your choice :
1) Do you care for a carrier ?
2) Why wouldn't you try a gravity well on your escort/destroyer in order to keep the targets packed for a nice scatter volley ?
3) Does a 5th tactical console mean anything to you ?
4) Do you already own a free escort such as the Plesh Brek or Risan Corvette ?
You might end up with almost any of a range of 12 ships (not to mention the Klingon and Romulan options since you're a Starfleet captain), from the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer to the Risan Corvette... Find your own way, choose your own ship !
My replies are in red. From answering those questions, my opinion of ship seems to sway towards the Prometheus... vectors would act kind of like a frigate hanger bay, has 5 tac consoles on the fleet version, and could send out some pretty nasty gravity wells.
Well, thanks for the advice so far everyone. Well, so far I'm reading that the Avenger console is a waste, the Armitage would be pretty good with a beam build, the Kumari dies too fast (I know I won't be getting it), the Charal is pretty good, and that the Prometheus wouldn't be technically the best, but is very fun to fly.
So far I'm thinking that I might get the Prometheus, but I still haven't made up my mind. More input would be appreciated.
Winning.

Personally, I prefer the Armitage, but that is just me
avenger for console is "meh", console is kinda weak.
andorian stuff - fleet grade ships, but very glass canon like.
armitage was my choice 2 year ago on similar situation. sadly stupid pet AI has robbed my last nerves.
sadly prometheus also affected by that stupid pet AI while in separation mode, but instead of armitage no one force you to use separation console.
so i would suggest - get prometheus, dump the console from it and be happy for having "ship of choice" for no win scenario.
also fleet prometheus is 5 console ship for which you will get discount.
Does anyone have any advice on how to build it, or should I start a whole new thread for Armitage build suggestions?
Winning.

Don't worry, it's not like they were on Venus with a herd of Tholians or anything, they just like the extreme heat and brutal weather like acid rain and hurricane force winds as the norm. Oh, and definitely keep your eye out on any two-tailed foxes, because if they ain't glowing, they're definitely an imposter. Possibly an Undine, we caught one of those once in my place once. Oh, and if you find a two-tailed fox that doesn't like the cold... most certainly ask him to say sorry. If he refuses, DESTROY HIM WITH A DOOMSDAY MACHINE, BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH AGAINST SUCH AN OVERPOWERED IMPOSTER!
tr;dr, I am winning last post wins 3.0. Thank you for your time.
Build wise, it's going to be what suits your playstyle. Like I mentioned earlier this is a very flexible platform, and can perform well under multiple situations.
Weapons loadouts wise: (3DHC+Torp/2+KCB rear) work well with the ship, she maneuverable and you won't have issue getting her into position.
I started with cannons, but have since migrated to beams on account of facing -alot- more voth, and mobility is key with them. Here she works well as well. I use the Romulan Rep Set Beam array (no energy drain) on this build to help with the strain on your power levels you'll experience with running 7 beams.
Her bridge officer layout suites both builds and here again allows for flexible setup. She's an A2B capable boat, which can help with power levels if that's an issue for you. If you're not.
She struggles in the science category a bit, as you've only got 2 powers there, so not much to offer beyond the standard HE and TSS.
Tactical will flavor to your weapons load out.
Big caveat to all of this is do what you enjoy. The Armitage is a super flexible boat which combined with her maneuverability and hangar bays allows for you to respond to and overcome any situation thrown at you. She's fairly forgiving, packs a mean punch, and... looks pretty cool if you ask me.

Depends on what you wanna do for the Andorian escorts. I suggest you buy all 3 of them since it's interesting to switch around between the Kumari and Charal (the Khyzon doesn't really matter). The Kumari is full weapon power and doesn't do any healing (I'm captain obvious). If you often play in a team and have a healer to back you up, yes, the Kumari will do great. But if you don't, or you're not in a fleet, or you're often on your own in PvP, use the Charal. You can switch around (takes 5 minutes of work) to fit your need and play around to see what build/ship fits which situation best. Get all 3 of them if you're gonna buy one, it's only twice as expensive and you get a nice set with it.
The avenger has a lot of weapon power although it doesn't have the 5th tac console like the Kumari, or a Commander Tac Station which kinda backs it off. It also has a cloak which is a great device in Cap 'n Hold maps (if you're into that) to surprise someone and kill them in 5 seconds before they even realize what the **** is happening and start buffing (I've seen a youtube video on it with a Defiant, works great). Also, the Avenger has a better hull and more engineering abilities than the Kumari or Charal. The higher one (especially the Commander and Lt-Commander ones) can be used to deal damage (like Eject Warp Plasma III), but a Cannon: Rapid Fire III will always work better for DPS. The Avenger is a really good ship if you wanna fight a lot while you don't have team mates watching your back (because the PvP queue you're in sucks or you're protecting the Kang in The Cure or you're doing other missions or you're in a 1vs1 PvP... etc. ).
I've been looking at both of those and the Avenger is really nice and I will probably get that one, but the Kumari is definitely the best in DPS if you have a healer that's watching you. Don't go without any healing abilities though, because a healer is also limited.
The other two ships: the prometheus seems like fun and that's all I know.
