Ship tailor - ship pattern colors not working.

I submitted a bug report in-game for this one too, but just pointing this out as well. I have tried three different toons and multiple ships. All pattern colors default to black/grey and you cannot change the colors. You can select different colors in the UI, but all you end up with is black/grey on the ship itself.


Also, type 6 ship skin has never worked for the tactical escort. At least not for me. I own the basic ship, refit, and retrofit and I've never been able to get the type 6 skin to work on it if I change any ship parts from the refit look. I own all versions of the long range science vessel and the type 6 skin works for that, incliding mixed ship parts, so this problem is specific to the tactical escort. I've submitted a bug report or three on this in-game as well.

So two problems I've run into for the ship tailor. The type 6 skin has been a problem for months. The pattern color not working seems to be recently, since season 8 at least.

    There's a workaround for this. If you change the ship parts preset (on the far left, where it lets you choose between Intrepid, Cochrane, etc.) and then reselect the one you want, it unlocks the colours so you can change them.

    I hope they fix the bug, though.

    Click a button on the far left under 'Template' then try again. If that doesn't work or isn't available, click the 'Randomize' button a couple times.

    I just hit randomize and let the tailor reset my boat. Seemed to fix the issue and it allowed me to reset the boat as I had it before.
    I need a beer.

    The easiest way I found to fix this is to switch the ship skin. For instance, if you're trying to customize the soveriegn, switch to the regent or majestic skin and then switch it back.

    Changing ship skin didn't work for me, but the randomization button did. But if you click "undo" to go back to what you had, it breaks the color selector again. So essentially you have to click the randomize button to reset it, then change everything back manually to what you had before just to use the color selector with your saved ship costume. Workaround that it is, it will be nice when this is properly fixed.

    Unfortunately, I still can't use type 6 ship skin on my Defiant / tactical escort with mixed ship parts. And that was trying to use the random button and switching other things to see if that was a workaround too. I guess they just haven't re-skinned some of the Defiant ship parts for type 6. :(

    And doesn't look like the Caitian Atrox has a veteran skin to choose either. I guess that's another ship that was put on the backburner. I know they have their hands full with content and other bug fixes, etc. Players like choices and customization. Perhaps they'll get around to it sometime this year. For both of these two items as well as fixing the pattern color selector.

    You might want to bring up the Type 6 skin issue as a separate topic in the "Art" subforum, just to make sure it gets noticed.

    As for the Atrox...I don't think any "alien" ships have access to the Veteran skin.

    That sounds like a good idea. I've submitted a ticket or three about it, but alas it seems a useless gesture. Perhaps I'll give that a go. Thanks much.

    Too bad the Atrox doesn't get the veteran skin. I bet it would look great. Oh well.... :(
