So I rolled up a new Science officer, and my plan is to have her fly a Vo'quv when she's of the appropriate level. Just wanted to pick the collective brains of the Vo'quv captains here, what ships did your character pilot on his/her way to the carrier, and what drove the decision?
Thanks,

I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)
You're right, I was just hoping to get ideas from folks on what they did. My initial plan was to fly a chain of BOPs up to level 40, then make the cold-shower transition to the carrier.

I went the BOP chain.
Fly dangerously then sit comfortably...

Just stay in your starter ship until you reach level 40+, then buy Mirror Voq. Doing otherwise as F2P is a long-term mistake you will eventually regret, since it grants no long-term benefit.

If you only run the starter B'rel from 1-40, you're in for a bad time unless the character is relegated to leveling up by doffs.
I'd level in either battlecruisers or BoPs... the former will keep you from getting too used to flitting about the battlefield, the latter will help you refined your Boff choices for the carrier.
You can also get the Hegh'ta at 40, then buy the Mirror Vo'quv.
I would go birds of prey or if you got some Zen and don't mind doing it, Dacoit and Corsair flight deck cruisers.
Otherwise I'd stay with the BoP. Least they got universal bridge officer slots.

Actually, I have the Dacoit. My first forays into carriers were with an Orion guy with whom I tried out the flight deck cruisers. It never worked out for that particular guy for other reasons, but I bought the Dacoit, and enjoyed it enough that I skipped a rank, and didn't even mind it for the time I was in my 30s.
Hmm, food for thought. Thanks.

I mostly flew escorts from 1-40 on my sci captain, blasting things with pure cannon firepower. I used the free ob carrier from 40-50 and until I could afford better.
I think you can get a 1 bay carrier at lower levels, but I can't recall what sort of officers they use nor what they are good for.
Just use the free ships they give you at each rank up... I prefer the Raptors over the Battlecruisers or Birds of Prey. The Birds of Prey with the Battlecloak I passed on... I use FAW with Torp Spread, clears trash a lot quicker when doing the dailies. Raptors has 2 Tactical Bridge Officer Consoles.
If you have Zen buy the ship that has the Leech... I'm waiting for the next sale to buy one.
I actually already own the Vandal (the Nausicaan ship that brings the Leech), the character is currently flying a Dacoit cruiser; she's level 30 and I'm having a hoot.
