As an Australian, Melbourne does get butchered often by foreigners. Sometimes it's painful, sometimes it's funny as hell.

The official pronunciation is 'eee-poe', as I pointed out here http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=13869571&postcount=30 with a confirmation last year by pwebranflakes.

Nice to see I'm not the only player who is being driven crazy by an NPC that keeps pronouncing it wrong. :P

    That's how I feel, though I don't know Spanish.

Every time I hear 'epohh' mispronounced I want to punch the NPC in the face, but I can't.

So I just wait for the snowman overlord to show up every half hour and kick him right in the snowballs. :D

It sad to see how little Rihannsu value proper pronunciation these days! I was in the Azure Nebula a while back, and the commander running the operation there, she said "day-lan warbird"!! Can you believe that?!

I always said ep-oh. Or rabbit.

As for the topic, I don't understand why the drama about it. Why don't you just say it's a bug in your universal translator or whatever ?

I'm more concerned by the incessant voice over spam under the gazebo that drive me crazy. Eepoh or ep-oh, I don't care.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

As an Englishman having been brought up in Australia, but now living in England only five minutes from a village called Melbourne; it's no end of confusion for me remembering to separate "Melb'n" and "Mel-born" in my head...

Pronounce it however you want. The official way to pronounce it is demonstrated by the annoying Romulan chick in Q's Winter Wonderland.

By the way, has anyone noticed that the text of her lines is misspelled exactly in the same way that she mispronounces it? It's spelled "epohh" but her text line is spelled "eppoh". I'm thinking someone misspelled the word in the both the script and the text line and she just pronounced it like it was written.

Funny, assuming it's the Dhelan you're talking about, I pronounce it 'Dee-lahn'. Strange galaxy this is.

you say tomato I say tamato you say potato I say patato...

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
