Please extend the Winter Event!!!!

I know its kind of early for this but still I'm gonna start this thread to keep a record of all the interruptions and bugs that are going to happen while the event is up so there is enough data collected to make a strong petition for when this is necessary.

No event has ever gone by without several interruptions that would make the regular player not being able to achieve its goal without having and extension. In my case I set my goal to get both breen ships on a single event wihtout having to pay lobi since it's mathematically possible.

As of today I need 1000 hours of uninterrupted and bug free event to be able to complete that. Your 42 day period gives me 1008 hours to be able to do so but already your 30 min extension into your maintenance its taking away 15% of the spare time I had.

So I'm just going to keep adding up to see how many hours I will lose to cryptic's server shut downs for maintenance or other stuff.

    It runs for 25 days, not 42....although I agree, since most fo us aren't (or at least shouldn't be) playing STO during a family holiday

    Doesn't the event run from Dec 5th (today) until January 16th?? That's 42 days if my math isn't wrong

    How the fudge do you need 1000 hours to get the reward for something you can do once every 20 hours?

    OMG the thing is not even live yet . patch extended another half hour .

    lol maybe OP has a point hehehe they are hitting bumps on just getting it started.

    well now its a 1 HOUR extention, it was supposed to be back up at 1PM EST, now its 2PM EST, that happened last year too..why can't they get it right!!

    Why do you need to play it for 1000 hours? That is virtually 24/7 until the event ends.

    since when does 35+ =25?

    you only need to RUN the event 25 times to get the ship without purchasing photos.

    So you're going to log on every 20 hours to get this? Good luck getting both from absolute scratch.
    There is also lobi you can use to get the photos required...

    heh, there is a problem with your logic. Yes, you can only do a run every 20 hours but you dont have to play the game for the time you cant do a run. All your 1000 hour calculation does, is give you the minimum amount of elapsed time to get the ship once the event goes live. And honestly that isnt even correct. As some will use lobi to get more photos and some will have photos saved from last year.

    25 runs of the Winter Race. You get to choose which ship you get.

    Are Q photos account bound or character bound. The latter would truely mean you wouldn't have enough time to acquire both ships if you ran the event every 20 hours.

    The event runs for 35 days, not 25. But, players only need to play it 25 days, to get the ship.

    35 days*24 hours=840 hours

    840 hours/20 hours (how often the mission cycles)= 42 runs.

    42 runs * 40 pictures (which is how many you get per run)= 1680.

    yes and no. it hasn't started yet because the maintenance was extended. it's set to be launched with today's patch.

    Also 42 runs during the Featured Episode event just concluded = 630 Lobi

    630 Lobi at ~4 pictures per 5 Lobi = 504.

    504 + 1680 = 2184 = no problem (if you're insane enough to do it.)

    However, the truth of the matter is, the event isn't designed with the idea of making it possible to get both ships in one event. The fact that the OP wants to do so, is just an example of his not understanding the concept.

    Wait til next year when there's three ships. People will be wanting to extend the event to a couple of months.

    If the event is supposed to begin at 1800 UTC on Dec 5 and end at 1200 on Jan 16, then that would be a total of 1002 hours. However you do not need 1000 hours to get both ships, only 980 hours, since you do not need to worry about the 20 hour cooldown after the 50th run. So even with the hour of extra maintenance, you've still got 21 hour of spare time. Good luck!

    Yikes maintenance has been extended another hour - I expect another 20 days added to the event!!!:rolleyes:

    Of course I know that I don't need to play the game non-stop, just to log-in a few moments b4 my 20h timer runs out and re-play the race.

    What I meant is that if there are interruptions either scheduled or not that will happen in between my 20h timer resets, then I won't be able to collect the amount of photos necessary to complete both breen ships without paying with lobi for the remaining photos.
